@@Kolamburoviv This laughable bullshit again? Bravo to Evgeny for his quad ,he just forgot to present properly the rest of his program. Rightful Gold for Evan, and no ridiculous whining can change the history.
I've been watching this performance since 2010 again and again. It's 2024 September, now. So many times, countless times. To my opinion, this performance is very strong and powerful. Well deserve the Gold medal on 2010 winter Olympic.
This is great! Beautiful program. I’m a bit new to figure skating, I have been watching for almost a year and I can name most of the competitors at Vancouver, yet I’d never heard of Evan Lysacek despite him being the gold medalist. Does anyone know if there would be a reason that people don’t really talk about him or if I’m just uncultured?
I'm fairly new to it as well, but I believe it is that he doesn't get talked about a lot. Some people found him quite underwhelming, not only because he didn't have quads in his program, but a lot of people didn't think he had any qualities that made up for his jumps. And there was a lot of debate about whether he deserved to win over Plushenko with this program. I lean towards him over Plushenko, although I'll admit this program doesn't quite stand out against other Olympic gold ones.
I have been watching figure skating since around the Salt Lake Olympics, and he is definitely not talked about much anymore. However, contrary to what the person above said, the narrative against him was 99% about him winning without a quad. Him lacking other qualities doesn’t really make sense (how would he win gold?) and sounds like internet garbage.
Evan didn't create the excitement or "capture the hearts" of skating fans like other champions have. None of his programs are very memorable. There is a lot going on in terms of movement in this program, but it just doesn't have that "wow" factor to it.
The closest thing (person) we'll ever see to Tom Ford or JFK Jr. on skates 😍 😂 I'm an American, but regardless of country, Evan is just gorgeous - how could we not love him?
Hey one question, why does men skaters get higher components score than women skaters? In this case the overall program difficulty (base score wise) is not beyond Mao and Yuna, and the execution is not as flawless as Yuna in vancouver. Do men skaters have different scoring threshold?
The factor is different. The component score is calculated to balance the tech score and it is generally assumed that the tech score will be higher in men's skating than women's skating. So PCS is multiplied by a set factor to balance it out - in 2010, the factor for men was 2.0 and for women - 1.6. Hence, Evan got 8.2, 7.95, 8.5, 8.35, 8.4 in the components (not a single 9) multiplied by 2 for an overall PCS of 82.8. And Yuna got 9.05, 8.6, 9.15, 8.95, 9.1 (three components above 9) multiplied by 1.60 for an overall PCS of 71.76.
Everyone saying that Plushenko deserved gold should rewatch the programs and try to be more objective. Plushenko came in arrogantly, with lazy choreography thinking he could ride on the coattails of his 2006 gold medal. And Plushenko had more than one visible error. Evan’s performance was clean and had way superior choreography all the way through. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that Evan was a pretty boring skater with minimal charisma or memorability. Plushenko does beat him in that respect. But that’s not enough to win an Olympic gold. Edit: Just adding that Plushenko also skated slowly and looked tired had a few really weak spins. The final combination spin was dismal. Just because he landed a quad, with a scratchy landing even, does not make his program better.
Yeah Plushenko deserved silver. He jammed packed all his elements in first part of program. The second half was basically fluff and not much skating. So even without the quad Evan deserved to win.
Not even the doping: after Plushenko’s terrible ice coverage 😭😭 Go Evan! We stan a tall skater who wins despite height being a disadvantage in figure skating!

My only question, what's with the snake design in his costume? I mean , I hope the USA team made him wear something else. He is handsome, tall, muscular then the costume gave a villain vibe. 🙊🤷🏼♂️
He deserved the gold here! Better performance and solid routine! But I will always love the charisma and effortless choreography Plush brings....he's just a natural on the ice.
Lysacek is one of the most controversial Olympic results ever. Years go by and the question mark keeps open, with many saying his gold was given and undeserved.
Победил тот, кто хорошо использовал правила. Лайсачеку тоже заминусовали два элемента, но он все равно выиграл тех. базой. Четверной тулуп не панацея для первого места, это было ей до 2002 г. при системе 6.0

Quads weren't popularized until after 2010, in Vancouver only Plushenko had landed them consistently. Yes he had that quad toe, but he had many wonky landings (particularly the 2nd triple lutz and the first triple axel), he was so tilted to the other side that you'd think he wouldn't make the jump
