Just a FYI, on these high efficiency inverter units you should insulate both refrigerant lines. When these operate in heat mode they can both create condensate on the small line as well as lose some efficiency.
I was surprised the board died like that but water is water at least you can warranty it. That Gree system must've done pretty good to keep up without needing a heat kit installed.
Old home week 😅 Glad it was easy to run down getting a board might be another deal with the holidays and a screwed up parts chain in general Riley is looking good though!
I my past experience, Mitsubishi makes the best, longest lasting units. Guess that's why they cost an arm and a leg. I've installed about a dozen LG's over the past 2 years with no call backs as of yet, but I know that won't last long.
@ I hope so! Good to hear. One of my competitors installed the LG ducted air handler when it first came out. He said the customer loves it. It’s a fraction of the cost of an ultra high SEER split system. The key being “installed correctly.” Purged, pressure tested and good vacuum pulled. Most don’t do that.
@ 100% purge nitrogen. Proper ductwork, pull a vacuum below 100 microns and setup the dip switches correctly. Weigh the charge in correctly and they just seem to work awesome. Especially in Indiana Winters
@@hvactech.florida5964 Are you sure about that? I know it's not a true mini split, but I was under the impression that they were inverter driven systems. It even states "inverter" on the shell. But, I've been wrong before and it won't be the last time!
dont know why you guys dont like mini splits, here in brazil its pretty much the only one for houses, have 5 on my house and none never had any problems, the older is 15 years, and i see it being a lot simpler to install plus you dont have air ducts. the most common here are samsung, LG, midea, komeco. but maybe its because houses here are made of concrete and a block similar to clay
Thx. Surprised at how dirty that outside of the unit got in 3 years. Must rain mud down there. 😂 Our Carrier mini split has been relarively good for its 1st 5 years, except for the lightning strike which took out both boards.
I remember watching the video of this installation. Sucks a board already went. Gree are know for their boards going especially the one on the condenser
Fun times! You were a lot younger when you installed that thing in the worst place in the world. But the insides of the unit are nice and clean compared to most of the cruddy junkers you work on daily.
Gree is the largest air conditioner manufacturer in the world. They mostly make mini splits for themselves, and other name brands. The name Gree is only new in the US.
@ivancook1247 I just used my sled past 2 days running 60 + feet of gasline crawl space pulled all pipe wrenches pipe hangers and fittings etc im 63 now sure is sweet sometimes gotta go under or over sewer lines
Pandemic parts! So many critical items weren't made as well during supply chain troubles. I swear that AUX heater plug looked burned - did water use it as a drain from above?
Wish you had come up with a solution. I have the same unit and not even 2 years old. It hasn't been working for 3 months and I'm on my 3rd ac tech and none know how to fix it. The air handler is working but not the outside unit. The exterior circuit board has been replaced twice and the fan motor ounce. My solution has come to tearing it out and replacing with another brand and suing Gree.
Gree Electric Appliances Inc. of Zhuhai, China. One of the largest manufacturing plants of inverter driven Mini's. Doesn't make them the best by any stretch.
If you don't see it as a financial burden or a money pit, you SHOULD NOT SELL IT! As long as you keep it sprayed for bugs, change the smoke detector batteries, and don't allow 20 dogs in cages it's pure INCOME! 😉
Thanks to that old installation video of yours, I now installed that voltage regulator/surge protector box for both of my inverter systems at home.
Just a FYI, on these high efficiency inverter units you should insulate both refrigerant lines. When these operate in heat mode they can both create condensate on the small line as well as lose some efficiency.
Nice troubleshooting Curtis, at least you were working in familiar territory for a change.
One job you can't complain about the installation nor do you need authorization for the repair.
I was surprised the board died like that but water is water at least you can warranty it. That Gree system must've done pretty good to keep up without needing a heat kit installed.
I cant believe that was 3 years ago! I remember you installing it and raving on the gree product…heck they dont make em like they used to
A belated Merry Christmas and a early Happy New Years to you and LT. Reilly. He's looking good.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!
Good job Curtis figuring things out thanks for the video
Great job, Curtis! 🤔👍
Thanks! 👍
We love Riley!!!
Well Curtis, i Look forward to the board update 👍 Au
Nice troubleshooting

I’ve installed close to 100 LG systems with only 2 callbacks in 3 years. I think installed correctly they are very reliable.

Boards and refrigerant leaks pretty much sums up 90% of minisplit problems. Thanks for the video.
It’s not a mini split…. It’s a split system… condenser is a side discharge. It’s not DC voltage

@@PhilipNation-xm5lhvery much like a mini split. Only uses a ducted air handler
@@HVACGUY Yep, thought it was similar to LG’s version of the same thing. Inverter driven condenser with an air handler. Still computer controlled.

Warranting a board that got wet. Because of poor manufacturing of the enclosure? Please explain?
Nice job
Thanks!

I remember the video of the install.
Troubleshooting video 👍👍👍
Bypass the board for the transformer power, see if everything else works ok. If it does consider a permanent bypass.
That is why I hate systems that use those boards. Give the less complex systems. They last longer (by far), but may be a tiny bit less efficient.
Now, how did they get that unit all the way over there.
Wasn’t easy
The KISS rule would prevent most of these problems.
I remember watching the video of this installation. Sucks a board already went. Gree are know for their boards going especially the one on the condenser
Nice diagnose

Not sure you where checking power coming off the board not going into the board .
I never heard of that brand here in California
They don't let you have anything
I was thinking about buying one of these units. Where do you get parts for them?
Same place you buy them
With these Gree units would you recommend having an element installed or just rely on the heat pumps during cold winter days?
Around here we don’t need the heat strips
Just wondering, which manufacturer makes Gree products? I read online they partner with daikin but johnstone says theyre unable to get parts for it
Gree is the largest air conditioner manufacturer in the world. They mostly make mini splits for themselves, and other name brands. The name Gree is only new in the US.
I thought Daikin was the largest manufacturer in the world?
I’m dogdin bullets with the heating 5 floors 171 rooms and just try keep tower temps and I don’t say to much

Something put the gree gree on ya. That is the thing about electronics, any little thing can mess it up. Good video

I see a Rinnai Water Heater, are you happy with its performance. We have the same unit for over 10 years, flawless here in Marietta. Enjoy your Work!
Loved it
I have never seen or heard of that manufacturer here in Michigan …. Stay Safe Curtis 🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼✌🏼🪚🔨
That's interesting, their known for mini split systems

Gree builds almost all of lennox's mini splits.
@ ahh OK
Never herd of that manufacture.
Once again , reliability and durability, sacrificed at the alter of efficiency.
Exactly. Everything is absolute junk nowadays.

Putting in mini splits almost put me out of business. They don't last and customers get mad.
