    Fantastic insight Bjorn! As always, great production, performance and tone. Yeah, the 77 Animals era Gilmour has always been the pinnacle tone chaser for me. I love the rotating speaker effect. I have a DSL RotoSim that I use and it just brings a whole other dimension to tone creation. I love how your phrasing still sounds so much like you and still makes me reminisce PF. That's the way it should be, not a lifted lick but a style that acknowledges and is still unique. Looking forward to the new album. Cheers from across the pond friend!

    Curious what gauge and brand of strings you used on this? They keep a great sound, even with the 1-2 step bends you masterfully play.

    Wow! Coincidence! I got a nobles mini just last week. Yesterday I was looking in a guitar store window and I pointed out a nice strat to my wife. She asked if I needed another one and I said no. As we walked away she said the strat I have is sounding very good at the moment. ITS THE NOBELS MINI! 🥳👍🏼🎸

      Yes, it's a really good overdrive. It has a character of its own and it's very easy to record.

    I really enjoy these videos where you explain how you recorded the solo. The Hagstrom Swede is cool. I used to have a regular Hagstrom Swede with stock pickups (2009). Are these pickups stock or 3rd party? The overdrive tones are great with a kind of slight fuzz vibe. Interesting that you record dry and add the delays and reverbs in post production. Do you record with the delay and reverb plugins already engaged to get the feel of those effects?
    Thanks again. The song is really good.

    • @BjornRiisMusic
      @BjornRiisMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Teh Norten Swede was a limited run I think a few years back. A take on the Super Swede. The pickups are custom wound for this guitar model by a Swedish guy called Johan Lundgren, who does a lot of custom stuff for Hagstrom and bands like Ghost.
      I record with a bit of delay and reverb just to make it easier to play and then I choose more fitting sounds and setups in the mixing of the songs.

    Brilliant has always! How did you have your dials set on the Nobel drive?

    • @BjornRiisMusic

      Thanks! Drive and volume around 2:00 and the tone around 10:00. This is for the Reeves amp so these settings might not fit all amps.

      @@BjornRiisMusic Many thanks! I’ll try these settings on my Amp’s clean channel as a starting point and work from there.

    Hi Bjørn, I hope this message finds you well. Quick question, at roughly 2:24 you mention that you “always record your guitars dry”.. is that statement true for the gain on the amp as well allowing you to re-amp the guitar as well as your effects (distortion being an effect), or are you referring to everything other than distortion? I’m new to recording and consider you to be the absolute best person to learn from. Thanks!

    • @BjornRiisMusic
      @BjornRiisMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      By dry I mean everything other than compression, overdrive, distortion and fuzz but also modulation - chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo, univibe, rotary. That's not really dry but I'm referring to reverb and delay. I don't line the direct signal from the guitar for re-amping. Recording without reverb and delays allows me to have full control over the recorded guitar tracks and make the fit into the mix.

    Awesome Bjõrn !!! Do you always use a compressor pedal ? Thanks a lot for your music 🥰🎸

      Thanks! Depends on the tone. This tone just sounded better, with a bot of top end smoothening.

    how much of r200 is mixed in original signal, and what are the settings? Thank you Bjorn

    • @BjornRiisMusic
      @BjornRiisMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The recorded signal was sent to a bus with the R200 mixed in. I can't really remember but I'm guessing 30-50%. I think I used stock settings, with the preamp raised slightly for more grit.

    Good morning Bjorn. When you say you record dry. Is that on the clean channel? Just wondering. Looking forward to coming to Norway to see you in concert.

    • @BjornRiisMusic
      @BjornRiisMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi George! By dry I mean either clean or with gain effects and modulation but no delays or reverb. I usually add delays and reverb in the mix to be able to control the recorded signal. It's just a matter of habit I guess and sometimes I do record with delays and reverb if that a specific tone I need.

    I am not a guitar player (I play trumpet) and am not familiar with how effects are used so my question may seem naive. But if you played the solo without any effects for the album and then added the effects afterwards during the mixing, how would you reproduce that sound when playing live?

    • @BjornRiisMusic
      @BjornRiisMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a pedal board that I use for stage and I try to cover as many tones with it as possible but obviously I can't have all the pedals and effects that I've used over the years on it. In a mix I can use different types of effects to get a specific sound, often a mix between pedals and plugins, and on stage I try to replicate that as best I can. It's a different setup too though and playing live with a band often require a slightly different approach. Pften a more basic effect setup and often slightly heavier and with less room and delays.
