Village wedding held in Gunde Asahe, Kurdistan, Iraq in 1994. Weddings have shifted over the past few decades, "with style and grace." Gundê weddings in the Kurdish Culture were three day events. Modern weddings are a day event held with family and friends. However, in the early days, the couples invited neighboring villages to join the celebration's. Everyone would dance in traditional line formations holding hands with whomever and whatever village you had came from. Compared to modern wedding line formations, one will dance with a sibling, family member, or close-knit friend. Traditions change over the years and slowly so do the people within that culture. No one ever remains the same for we are all to change and progress as one!
