You're not necessarily bad at the game, it's just that it takes thousands of hours to master it, and that's when you're actively learning and improving in every match. The only way you could go pro in a week is probably if you're someone who's already a pro in another RTS, and you're playing 16 hours a day with full learning focus.

The golden rule for climbing on RTS games that you have little to no experience with is just go for cheese rush strategies. You just have to learn a streamlined process and you just go like that. Usually once you get halfway to a decent elo you start playing with other people that use the same strategy.

If there are germans among the viewers: I can totally recommend the Rocket Beans AoE2 Videos. One guy with good skill (still far from pro) fights a team of one with basic knowlege and one who just starts the game over and over. And they did it for a long time, so you can follow the improvement really nice. Also very entertaining.

Oh, how the times have changed... it seems only those who dedicate a lot of time to the game remain... so these days people at 600 ELO execute build orders nearly perfectly, can micro, and are following the streams of the top rated players. Just 2-3 years ago 600 ELO was about simcity players, half of them never even touched their boars, and produced villagers only on demand like we did it as children playing the original campaigns.

Losing millions of times was how I got into Dota 2. You'll all of a sudden get to a point where something clicks and you start destroying and then you'll really learn to love the game. If you're still playing even after you lose then you're on your way. These games have a difficulty curve which makes it tricky for new players because there is so much to learn before you can even beat the worst of the worst players.

Damn man this experience are totally worthed it,
i mean i got the same position back in 2-6 week ago, but instead in RTS game, i got in team battle (overwatch similarly game), got "hot zone", winning each game non stop even reach the gap rank (i call that because it already on 50%-70% player reach that rank), but the next week losing streak like madness even dropping 2 ranks lower in matter on 6hrs gameplay after that i got out from the games, and back to mmorpg where is more my core feels better, no need frustration about insane teammates, or kind of that,
also RTS will be always the fun game no matter how you play that, even in online match, but thanks to RTS decision-making type of every movements will deciding outcome making me never feels same playing the games, also the experience in there making me can expect some of results of each decision i made, and RTS will always be the best game of having fun in many ways

T90 has similar role to AoE2 community as LinusTechTips to PC community. They're funny and entertaining enough to bring in new people into the community making it bigger and better. They're not as much of the nerds as Spirit of the Law or Gamer's Nexus or Buildzoid, but it's not their role to be. Once someone is hooked with this community they branch out to nerdier topics and channels, but before this it's those people that really do great job growing community. Show them tons of appreciation people, because they really earned it!

The main problem you were having on the middle portion where you were "practicing but still getting worse" was that you were trying to fly before you were ready to walk, basically. If you're going to play this type of game with no prior experience in the RTS genre, you need to spend the first week just learning the basic gameplay and committing the hotkey setup to muscle memory, then a month or two learning the economy and major unit counters. Jumping straight to specialized build orders will get you a few sub-1k wins against people with similarly undeveloped mechanics, but one of the things that has made AoE2 in particular stand the test of time is how adaptive the gameplay is compared to most of the modern attempts to redesign the genre. If you try to learn by focusing on build orders you'll hit eventually a wall when 1 build order is suddenly no longer enough, and at that point you can't fix it by just learning a second build order; you need to learn dozens, and if you don't have a solid foundation built on the fundamentals you'll loose your grasp on the first build order by the time you get the 3rd down. The best players in the game don't really even use strict build orders past the first 10 minutes (17 in-game minutes) anyhow.
Yes, I get that this is played for the memes and the "going pro" thing is just part of the video narrative.
