If I can recount what a respectable sheikh mentioned that Allah SWT will only protect Masjidil Haram and Al Masjid an Nabawi.
Masjidil Al-Aqsa however, will be the responsibility of the ummah; hence, it was destroyed twice (and rebuilt) in the history of mankind.

I wont Forget a Masjid Al Aqsa In Palestine

- [12:27] ⚠ Oppression against Masjid Al-Aqsa is highlighted as a grave transgression in Islam, combining desecration, murder, starvation, and humiliation, which warrants attention and action from Muslims globally.
- [15:54] 🚫 Ignoring or downplaying the oppression of Masjid Al-Aqsa is condemned in Islam, as it constitutes a severe form of oppression and transgression against the name of Allah and the sanctity of a sacred place.
Summarized
According to Google, the term "Jerusalem" is mentioned 660 times in the Torah, while its synonym "Zion" is mentioned 158 times. Interestingly, neither term is mentioned in the Quran.
There is nothing similar to what is happening in Palestine...
So the problem of the Al aqsa compound /Temple Mount conflict is not really a geopolitical issue . It is theological and based entirely on the Quran and the 'night journey' and Islamic teachings on the jews . If Islam were the majority in control then there would be dhimmitude of Jews ? But the problem is that jewish nation is in the majority and hence the 1948 issue . But the issue is theological ,that`s my understanding !
May Almighty Allah be pleased with the Ummah and save the neighbours of Holy Al Aqsa from the clutches of tyrants like Zionist Israelis. Aameen.

The AL Aqse Masjid is a House of Holy and a Holy site in a Holy City and may not be desicrated.
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن مَّنَعَ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ أَن يُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ وَسَعَىٰ فِي خَرَابِهَا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ مَا كَانَ لَهُمْ أَن يَدْخُلُوهَا إِلَّا خَائِفِينَ ۚ لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا خِزْيٌ وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ ﴿البقرة ١١٤﴾

وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَا مُوسَىٰ لَن نَّصْبِرَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ فَادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنبِتُ الْأَرْضُ مِن بَقْلِهَا وَقِثَّائِهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا ۖ قَالَ أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ الَّذِي هُوَ أَدْنَىٰ بِالَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ ۚ اهْبِطُوا مِصْرًا فَإِنَّ لَكُم مَّا سَأَلْتُمْ ۗ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الذِّلَّةُ وَالْمَسْكَنَةُ وَبَاءُوا بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَكْفُرُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ النَّبِيِّينَ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا وَّكَانُوا يَعْتَدُونَ ﴿البقرة ٦١﴾
ضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الذِّلَّةُ أَيْنَ مَا ثُقِفُوا إِلَّا بِحَبْلٍ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَحَبْلٍ مِّنَ النَّاسِ وَبَاءُوا بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَسْكَنَةُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَكْفُرُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ الْأَنبِيَاءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا وَّكَانُوا يَعْتَدُونَ ﴿آل عمران ١١٢﴾
And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allaah from being mentioned in His Massaajid and strive toward their destruction. It is not for those to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is disgrace, and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment.

And [recall] when you (Children of Israel) said, "O Moses, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions." [Moossa] said, "Would you exchange what is better for what is less? Go into [any] settlement and indeed, you will have what you have asked." And they were engulfed with humiliation and poverty and inflicted with anger from Allaah [upon them]. That was because they [repeatedly] disbelieved in the signs of Allaah and killed the prophets without right. That was because they disobeyed and were [habitually] transgressing.
They (Children of Israel) have been put under humiliation [by Allaah] wherever they are overtaken, except for a covenant from Allaah and a rope from people. And they have drawn upon themselves anger from Allaah and have been put under destitution. That is because they disbelieved in the verses/signs of Allaah and killed the prophets without right. That is because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed.
