Great message! It's true, this honour gospel came from Nigeria, and it's unfortunate that what was meant to be a good thing metamorphosed into idolatry. I cringe any time I see nigerians lying prostrate before their men of God. In Kenya we have also misunderstood honor and have idolized men. It's sad that it has led to lots of abuse and manipulation of the flock by those that have been idolized.May the Lord cleanse his church and help us all.

Ah, Ernest! I was once in a fellowship where a friend of mine was told by a pastor (we had a long distance trip) not to carry me in her car but instead to carry another pastor and she considered a greater opportunity for ministry. The pastor being carried was well aware that that happened and I was told to not even show up. And my 'friend' obeyed that. Needless to say, I lost the friendship and left the fellowship immediately because for me that's far from being Christlike. I understand this message well well.

This message should trend! I once was praying for myself thinking I have a serious "authority" problem. I was trying to make sense of people bowing, kneeling, putting hands together "🙏" ,looking for a certain man of God to pray certain graces over them in a manner that bestores the power on the MOG and not of God etc.
This was conditioned sometimes I attended a Nigerian led fellowship consistently while on campus holidays. I had to leave the fellowship but I struggled with the honor thing. Till I was delivered from this idolatry. I felt so exposed that I prayed to never be famous... wrong prayer focus though, but I felt so bad about the idolatry so much to never want to be the idol. I think I am overcoming it.
Looking at it from the other side (of the idol), there's a whole circumcision of the heart needed-you never know you are proud until you are hurt by being denied recognition.

I have been a victim of such churches, the churches would give us stickers, annointing oil, water etc at a fee. I was completely sold out into that doctrine to be honest I couldn't see any problem until the day j decided to seek the Lord Jesus. In the process of wanting to know the Lord I found him and he had mercy on me. He began teaching me his truth and opened my eyes to see the idols I had gathered for myself. I even had to leave those churches after he made me understand they were not teaching Jesus. It's now 3 years and I have had to unlearn all false doctrines. God is Holy and he demands us to be Holy. It's a serious radical change. As a woman I had to let go of Jezebel products too the fake hairs nails pants. It's a journey. Indeed narrow is the way and few find it.

In Nigeria their culture of honor from way back has been what we see in the church now. Kneeling laying prostate That's their day to day way of doing life church aside and if you dig deep into their practices that's how they've been showing honor since way back and I assume it was a seamless transition into the church for them. We have imported a tradition that isn't ours and probably that's what makes it seem as you imply. Is it wrong Ill leave that to my Ugandan sisters to decide. Yes we have a crop of Men of God who abuse it. But atleast I came to the conclusion that no doctrine is superior to the other as long as its in line with scripture and your revelation. We will never run short of what differs from what we base our doctrine on. when its wrong, we correct, in the mean time Kila mtu tu afanye huduma yake.

That's what causes people to look for mantles😂. For heaven's sake we have Jesus. Everyone should be honoured to the glory of God. This idea of Fathers and all is faulty for is it even possible fot everyone to have a relationship with the pastor? Your only covering is Christ. I can see it now. What if the pastor moves to another church or dies? The covering disappears ama😂. That's why our faith should be in Christ. When Paul encountered Christ he didn't go to Peter to confirm his calling. Isaiah 2:22, "Why do you trust man who has but a breath in his nostril? Why do you hold him in such great esteem?" 1 John 2:27 - "But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie-just as it has taught you, abide in him." The anointing is in everyone who accepts Christ. 1 Peter 5:1-4, "So I exhort the elders among you, mas a fellow elder and na witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 oshepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,1 pnot under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;2 not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock." It would be unfortunate to go around disrespecting people. Just be sober and alert lest you raise another god for yourself. May everything for all believers flow from Christ, the head over everything for the church. Amen

Good insights however in my view it is short of getting to the root cause.
How did iniquity enter the world? Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the matter of the tree of good and evil...when they (Adam and Eve) believed the serpent more than they believed in God...and moving forward iniquity was rooted in man and became a quandary, a perplexity that even the law could not cure. (Galatians 3:24)
Similarly, the idolatry you are describing entered the Church because Christians are in disobedience to Jesus, the Lord of the Church, on the very weighty matter of jews.
Christians believe jews more than they believe in Jesus Christ the Lord of the Church in essence making the devil the lord of the Church. Just like the disobedience of Adam and Eve made the devil the lord of this world (Luke 4:6). Which idolatry is greater than that??
Christians believe jews (that they are Gods chosen people simply predicated on ethnicity) more than they believe in Jesus Christ the Lord of the Church who clearly stated no one can be chosen of God unless they have accepted Him (Jesus) John 14:6 and further made it abundantly clear that anyone that claims they are chosen of God but have not accepted Jesus are sons of the devil out to fulfill the lusts of the devil i.e., steal kill and destroy (John 8:31-44 / 2 John 1:7-11).
All that you are describing are just symptoms of the root cause; the root cause being that the Church is in disobedience to Jesus the Lord of the Church and therefore committed/pledged to idolatry.
One cannot cure a root cause by attending to the symptoms; just like the law could not cure iniquity but only attended to its symptoms. (Galatians 3:24)
To cure the root cause in Church today one needs to learn and teach Christians the insidiousness of zionism (Christians accepting Jews as Gods Chosen people simply based on ethnicity). A view Christians should strongly disavow as a matter of urgency and condemn in the strongest terms possible at every opportunity.

This is wrong. Your views and verses are wrong you are taking them out of context. This is misleading and it's only bringing more harm to your church.
If as a church we do not choose to honor, we are choosing to dishonor. There is no inbetween. And there is a reaction for either choosing to honor or to dishonor. The leaders are as human as we are, but who are you to point out and claim that they have done wrong and hold it against them. The leaders you attack raised the father's that nurtured you spiritually, if it's not for them, you wouldn't have been saved.
It's the responsibility of each person to watch their walk with God. You are responsible for your walk with God. I am responsible for my walk with God. They are responsible for their walk with God. Every knee will kneel down before God, We and our leaders. They will be answerable before God with what they do with their power and actions, so as we, but we have to respect the office and power they carry. Cause there is a reason God choose them. Every authority comes from God and being against authority is being against God.
Honor is very paramount for God is a God of honor. You can't stir up author's to be dishonourable towards their leaders, the people God has given to his people to direct them. Why won't you point out that every single time God wanted to do something in the bible, he raised a person, and through that person change came. And if the person was rejected, God did not do much for the people. We need to honor the people God has brought into our lives.
