Vice-versa to Thor, whose powers are mystic in nature but isn't really a mage. Even by not going by his comic book counterpart, I know Loki could do more than just cast Illusions since he was taught by Frigga. It's also sad that we didn't get to see Frigga do magic, aside from illusions, as she herself said she was trained by witches. Asgardians have both their internal (naturally) abilities they're born with, as well as the ability to cast spells.
