When will you check out newer artists like Kliffi, prism boy, サウンドBLASTER 16, Diana Rhodes, or even Kane Virkutis who make vaporwave inspired original music? I am getting tired of seeing the same old same old... I want something newer!
Infinity Frequencies is the Boards Of Canada of Vaporwave. Think about how they mostly wanted to do an opposite of what the norm was of the genre they were in. Boards Of Canada wanted to go to the past and be nostalgic while everyone in the electronic music scene were futuristic and looking to the said future. Vaporwave at the time was best described as "rose tinted glasses" from what I've seen. Infinity Frequencies goes some sort of "violet tinted glasses".
I always loved how the final word of Death, "forever", is also the first word of Decay. As if we're still hearing an echo of the end of the first album, perhaps centuries later
It's always gonna be hard to get pure vaporwave on there due to the sometimes hefty usage of samples and other songs. But I agree and wish it was that easy too.
I listened to these albums a lot my first two years of highschool (2015/2017); especially between classes and at lunch. Even now I can still see the halls of my highschool's English building when I listen to computer death. These were really rough times in my life, I had attempted suicide in December 2016 (if I remember correctly) and had been kicked out of school because I was truant and falling way behind in class due to my mental illness. Strangely enough these albums along with a bunch of other great music really spoke to me in those dark times. They would teleport me to worlds beyond my own or sit with me in my disheartened headspace. While I adore the whole trilogy and most every song, one that sticks out to me is "I saw her" from computer decay, I had witnessed a girls suicide two months before my own attempt and I still see her in me head whenever that song plays. Thank you Infinity Frequencies for your work and thank you Pad Chennington for nerding out about obscure music I love :3
Hope you’re doing better now man! Its insane how music can speak to us on such deep and personal levels. The more you think about it the weirder it gets. Oh this? It’s just a Honda Verno Integra Commercial sample, looped for a minute straight and it helped me when my life was going to shit! Try saying it that way instead of just “recovered floppy disk is a good song and it helped me when i was sad.” And people will think you’re insane lol. seriously though i hope you’re okay and im glad you’re still with us!
@@transcommiegrindfreak Lol I feel that so hard!! our brain finds such creative ways to connect the dots. i feel that the looping qualities of infinity frequencies strongly resembles what it's like for me to have post traumatic stress. Like a moment in time looped again again because the memory is just so strong. Like a lot of other "Minimalist" music i think it's easy to overlook because it's simple, but I feel it's creatively brilliant!!! btw im doing much better and I am currently a huge life enjoyer hahaha
@@itsmuddie thats so interesting to imaginen Never really thought of it that way, but i suppose it makes sense! Infinity frequencies doesn’t just loop a moment in time, but also the emotions within it, the feelings. For me, their music gives off such a crippling feeling of abandonment, loneliness, decay. That ties pretty well into my extreme fear of abandonment. Its so interesting that music and art can mean so many different things to so many people. The whole meaning of infinity frequencies changes from person to person. Thats a sign of it being some damn good art. Also great that you’re doing well thats awesome to hear
A new Pad video sends me jumping around happily these days as I don't really listen to vaporwave and the likes, but his research on rather obscure/niche music and narrative style are so captivating
I'm in the exact same boat. I tried to get into vaporware but have struggled but I love learning about it and other genres that are outside of the mainstream
YOOOO IVE ALWAYS WANTED AN IN DEPTH VID OF INFINITY FREQUNCIES ABOUT THE COMPUTER TRILOGY FROM YOU PAD, U DA MAN!!!! PS: Computer Afterlife is one of my all time favorite vaporwave albums!
It's funny, I don't like vaporwave or any of the other music you talk about, but I can't stop watching your videos. The way you describe things is so addicting, and your voice is so soothing
I'm finally returning to this video to comment, since I paused to (first) watch the Between Two Worlds video, then the Signalwave video, THEN this one, and *THEN* I listened to each of the albums at least twice in between revisiting this video. Took a few days, but time well spent, so thanks for turning me on to all of this!! Holy cow. It's some beautifully liminal music, all of it, and I loved how each of Infinity Frequencies' albums gave me a different "world" to explore for a half hour or so, just enough for a daydream. It was especially interesting for me as a speaker (somewhat) of Japanese, coming up with stories in my head as to why this moment, that word, those notes, were being chosen for recollection, or why they were being recalled in the first place. This brings me rather nicely to your request for suggestions! The use of short, strangely mundane musical loops reminded me of the game Yume Nikki, especially due to the similar mood and feel of that game to the works and themes of Infinity Frequencies. Drakengard 1 and LISA the Painful/Joyful also use loops and samples in some incredible ways, I'd love to see them discussed! Oh, also! I found your channel through your EATEOT Deep Dive but stayed/subscribed for the outstanding quality of your other content, especially given all the neat genres and albums I've been introduced to as a result. Words still fail me when it comes to how incredible your Deep Dive is, a true monument to not just those six records, but The Caretaker himself, and the preservation of memories. I'll return to that video again someday, and hopefully then I'll be able to collect my thoughts enough for a comment worth leaving behind! In the meantime, may the ballroom remain eternal. 🤗
Always wanted to cover the trilogy, was hard to not do another video on IF! and not its even harder to not make a third with the new album Computer haze out lol
4:12 Frankly I would discredit the notion that even if you are just pulling samples and reworking them into short tracks it isn't meaningful or valuable as art. Human creativity in recycling the old into something new and personal is fundamentally what art is at the end of the day.
I like listening to infinity frequencies when I read a lot. One particular combination was when I read the plague by Albert Camus. Something about that hit different
My pleasure! Infinity Frequencies music can be extremely addicting. Everything being bite sized and quick makes it flow so well, a constant change. gotta love it. Have you checked out their latest album? new one just dropped about a week ago!
Ya know it was honestly quite interesting seeing a different interpretation of this trilogy . Thank you, Pad Chennington, for uploading yet another awesome dissection of these timeless Vaporwave releases!
Thank you for this video Pad! Infinity surely deserves more videos about his masterpieces! That was a surprise to see Indy Advant over here! So sweet! Utopia District are quite lovely group of people that shares and spreads the news about vapor all over the world soo nice im very proud of! Some projects to check, enjoy, dive in and make another storytelling Pad? I can suggest you my favorite Eyeliner bud Luke Rowell's music, his Disasteradio project or what about James Ferraro underrated works before he started making utopian-virtual stuff? I guess world needs more diving into early vapor projects as well as Infinity - Lasership Stereo, 18 Carat Affair or Topaz Gang - they were bangers in 2013 for my very first steps into vaporwave world ^^
ayyy thank you so much for watching! and for typing out the comment + recommendations! I feel like there is always a countless amount of projects to explore lol and that's what keeps me going... I actually am working on my next video already on a project that I really haven't given an entire video on yet, despite how massive/important the album was in the scene... more news to come soon!
IF is one of the very first vapor artists I listened to, they've been a favorite ever since in both sound and style, and I'm glad you're the one to do a video on them. You always do a stellar job of describing the music itself aswell as going into other details most people wouldn't know! Thanks you Pad!
The whole past year I’ve really listened to a ton of IF, I just can’t get enough of it... so happy to have a new album from him too to start off the new year! And thank you so much for the kind words my friend :) cheers and thanks for stopping by!
Infinity Frequencies was with me for more than 4 years, and forever loved, I love and will always love him; the strange, calm and soothing feels he creates in my soul are underestimated...
Being a part of the vaporwave movement back in the day its always fascinating to see how much meaning people put behind things that were just fucking around to us :) long like classic vaporwave
I legitimately love these more than anything, even the original macintosh plus, I still listen to them all the time. I'll never forget the day I learned there was a third one

I'm pretty new to Infinity Frequencies and am loving it. Top tier signalwave, methinks. Every release manages to be deeply evocative and coherent in the way of cut-up poetry - deconstruction for a purpose.
My favorite release from Infinity Frequencies is the only one I saw on the profile on Soundcloud: the light is your guide. I think they're all tracks from these series, rearranged. But it's so coherent and full. I feel it completes this puzzle for sure. I love it very dearly and it's a beautiful journey I happily go on, repeatedly.
My most listened to artist of 2023, its so easy to get lost in their far out sounds , "wandering" is so easy to keep on repeat and really transports you to a different world
I saw the thumbnail and actually thought this had to do with the brain, what it does during death, the afterlife and whatnot. This is still pretty neat, though.
Trying to create more thumbnails going forward that peak the curiosity of those passing by it, but still staying true to the subject matter discussed. Crafting these thumbnails is a whole process in itself! lol, but thank you for stopping by and watching :)!
12:21 Interesting. To someone that did not grow up with this type of hardware, it's foreign so their only reference point is "old sci-fi".... whereas people who did grow up with this hardware, probably don't feel like you do at all. We know these machines as common appliances from our lives, whereas younger people like you only know them as relics from a foreign technological era, not steeped in current reality at all. I did also find the "endless blue void" take on the second album's afterlife interesting, since, all it takes is a glance up to see the flourecent light at the top that reveals that this is a blank white wall. The color balance is just off, but that light shows me that it's not an infinite void at all. Just the opposite in fact, a harsh suffocatingly small room, or at least a small corner of a room.
Somehow his songs reminds of a mall that i used to go with my mom when i was a kid it had chinese themes and Chinese employees his songs gives me huge nostalgia
This seems like a kick-ass album that I'd love. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! I wonder if you'd be interested in doing a video on either lilien rosarian's A Day In Bel Bruit (which, if memory serves, you've mentioned before) or Vapor Adventure by Polymono? Both are recent finds of mine that I've quickly learned to love.
God this video hits very different to me now. I'd been loosely following the scene of experimental music prior but I'd never gotten all the way into vaporwave until I watched this video when it released and listened to the computer trilogy. I fell in love with the aesthetic, went to listen to more and more, and now it's one of my favorite genres because of the sheer diversity of styles and subgenres therein. Thank you Pad, for helping open my eyes to such a wonderful genre.
This comment just made my day hahahahah THANK YOU SO MUCH! Yes they take a good amount of time to write and make, but I truly enjoy every minute of it just as much as I did when I first stared the channel, so it’s all good for me! Much love always and thank you for watching homie!
As of recent, you’ve become my favorite channel on TH-cam You’ve introduced me to so much cool stuff so yeah thanks a lot and keep up the good work ! You should dive into some more experimental stuff again! Dyres Hands was one of my favorite albums last year so I’d be interested in seeing what more that kind of music has to offer :)
Yes! it's Infinity Frequencies is one of the only projects that really come close, or pretty much on par, with The Caretaker for me... atleast in the experience to be had in the music/artwork. Love it so much
Interesting bit of trivia concerning “Majesty” (last track on Death): that was sourced from a Chanel 5 (perfume) commercial. The commercial itself uses Vangelis’s “The Little Fete” (from China) and it was directed by Ridley Scott. Insert Blade Runner premonition here 😁
what makes me sad is that you didn t say a thing about Lotus Bloom, on the first album... I literally adore that song and dedicated mysef to it for years...
If my memory doesn´t bother me; IF was in my high school. Now is super famous, but not for the vaporwave stuff, he had a group called "Calle 24", and make corridos tumbados. Anyone knows some kinda info?
Can a computer "die"? It all depends on whether the parts are still available or still work. A dedicated computer nerd can get new wiring and clean up the boards as best as they can, but if they succeed, then the computer can be resurrected or reborn.
One of two artists to make me scared by their music. Computer Decay and D.O.A by Throbbing Gristle are two examples of SCARY music. Not music covering scary subjects but an attempt to make the sound actually unnerving. Excellent work Pad!!
YESSS! I was just about to recommend Infinity frequencies. So instead I recommend Quadra 650 as an interesting artist, that I haven't seen you cover. Cheers!
@@PadChennington I replied to your comment, but it disappeared somehow. So yes Quadra 650 is on Bandcamp and has 2 albums called "Untitled" from 2018 and "Untitled album" from 2019. The first one is more classic vaporwave but very strange, the second one doesn't seem to use samples, but still very strange. Most well known song is called "VHS". The artist is also active on instagram and soundcloud and maybe originates from Barcelona. Love your work! Keep it up! Cheers! :)

Probably my all time favorite vaporwave artist. The Computer trilogy alone are classica, not mentioning other amazing works by IF like Between Two Worlds and Closer than Ever..
This is one of my favorite artists, these sounds take me to another dimension that I have never experienced before, others that I usually listen to are Telepath and Voyage Futur, I recommend these three artists! :)
Hi Pad , I've been listening to your podcast for several years now. I love what your doing and I'm always interested in what you uncover. I live in Western Australia and I would love to know where I can order the music that you highlight on your show .
Signalwave is like paper mache, it uses some newspaper and make something interesting, it won't have much clay or other materials added to it, and it just works on it's own.
hey pad! great vid, def gonna try the 'i have no mouth and i must scream'/infinity frequencies combo one of these days! im curious about your use of they/them when referring to infinity frequencies. do they use they/them pronouns? or do you not know what their pronouns are, and default to they/them? im non-binary myself, so i love learning about other artists who use they/them
Love infinity frequencies!!! I think you might dig the ` ` ` NEW FIGURE VARIETY series and maybe also a deep dive into my all time favorite INTERNET CLUB

This comment just made my day hahahahah THANK YOU SO MUCH! Yes they take a good amount of time to write and make, but I truly enjoy every minute of it just as much as I did when I first stared the channel, so it’s all good for me! Much love always and thank you for watching homie!
dude, I love the way you use your vocabulary and pacing to tell a story about vaporwave subgenres
As of recent, you’ve become my favorite channel on TH-cam
You’ve introduced me to so much cool stuff so yeah thanks a lot and keep up the good work !
You should dive into some more experimental stuff again! Dyres Hands was one of my favorite albums last year so I’d be interested in seeing what more that kind of music has to offer :)
Computer death is eerily blissful, great video as always pad 👍🏼
Yes! it's Infinity Frequencies is one of the only projects that really come close, or pretty much on par, with The Caretaker for me... atleast in the experience to be had in the music/artwork. Love it so much
Appreciate your deep dives into "fringe" audio art.
Interesting bit of trivia concerning “Majesty” (last track on Death): that was sourced from a Chanel 5 (perfume) commercial. The commercial itself uses Vangelis’s “The Little Fete” (from China) and it was directed by Ridley Scott.
Insert Blade Runner premonition here 😁
“Forever” (first track on Decay) is sourced from a DeBeers commercial
And yes, I’m one of the lucky ones to get the cassette box and awaiting the vinyl issue 😁
always look forward to your comments on my videos Derek, I learn something new everytime. cheers!
thank you for making this video!! i love IF - i've got a soft spot for Closer than ever
And thanks for stopping by to watch it! :) have you checked out the latest IF release that he just dropped last week? great stuff
@@PadChennington yes, very good stuff!
what makes me sad is that you didn t say a thing about Lotus Bloom, on the first album... I literally adore that song and dedicated mysef to it for years...
Omg I love infinity, I’m happy that you covered him
Or her idk
If my memory doesn´t bother me; IF was in my high school. Now is super famous, but not for the vaporwave stuff, he had a group called "Calle 24", and make corridos tumbados. Anyone knows some kinda info?
I'm so glad you made this video, I absolutely love these albums
have you heard the new Infinity Frequencies album that dropped last week? amazing stuff!

Can a computer "die"? It all depends on whether the parts are still available or still work. A dedicated computer nerd can get new wiring and clean up the boards as best as they can, but if they succeed, then the computer can be resurrected or reborn.
I love this music discovery series. I've found some good stuff lol. Thanks Pad!
Cheers!
Will give a listen! Any albums or releases in particular?
@@PadChennington I replied to your comment, but it disappeared somehow. So yes Quadra 650 is on Bandcamp and has 2 albums called "Untitled" from 2018 and "Untitled album" from 2019. The first one is more classic vaporwave but very strange, the second one doesn't seem to use samples, but still very strange. Most well known song is called "VHS". The artist is also active on instagram and soundcloud and maybe originates from Barcelona. Love your work! Keep it up! Cheers! :)
@@andrasbeno342 ahh ok! TH-cam usually deletes comments with links in them, it's annoying but thank you for commenting again! good to know, thats for the recommendations!
I just found a signalwave vaporwave compilation on YT. It had some old music slowed and edited with commercials added in. It was pretty cool. Had an AWESOME visual to go along with the music
Massive, thank you for enlightening me with this extraordinary trilogy and this incredible artist. Truly takes you to other worlds. Much love.
enjoy the vibes!!! much love right back to ya :)
Infinity Frequencies man, such a talented genius. Great video Pad!
Yes! Can't get enough of his work.. and thank you dude! thanks for stopping by
@@PadChennington Hell yeah man. Im a pretty recent fan of yours and Infinity Frequencies is one of my favorites. Highly appreciate the heavy amount of research and dedication that you do for such a interesting artist. Keep it up!
So glad your back man #Vaporwave4Life
100%!!!
The album cover for Computer Death looks like the music video for Kraftwerk’s “Musique Non Stop”.
I had no idea about the Rest In Paradise album or how it pre-dated the use of that image for the Palm Haze album! crazy
been so excited for this!! happy belated new year pad!
Happy new year!! and thank you for stopping by, hope you enjoy!
Gonna listen to this tonight! Great video
Is the selects album all electronic stuff? I’ve got a project called SILL that’s guitar based that is like to submit if it would be considered. I will sign up for you patreon regardless. You’re one of the best creators on this site.
Aye babe, wake up, Pads back 😂
wake da whole dang house up
Pitched down Windham Hill never sounded more ethereal than on Group Meditation. PS Josh from San Diego, not Kyoto
Right? And yes I know, I always love going off of the Bandcamp pages though :) Have you checked out Exit simulation??
@@PadChennington Of course bro, I'm on the first page of purchasers . . . . 😎
Discovered this as a recommendation while listening to The Caretaker's An Empty Bliss Beyond This World. Loving the Computer Trilogy so far!
I loved this album so much. I found the source for my favorite track there: Valley in the Clouds from David Arkenstone
INFINITY FREQUENCIES LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
been really excited to drop this video, hope you enjoy!
Hi Pad , I've been listening to your podcast for several years now.
I love what your doing and I'm always interested in what you uncover.
I live in Western Australia and I would love to know where I can order the music that you highlight on your show .
He also produced intro song for Bones PaidProgramming2
Oh great Heavens new pad video
first of the year and many more to come!
I want to visit that room
Computer afterlife is a god damn masterpiece
Superb series.
Absolute classics!
@@PadChennington sorry, I meant your channel. And you're right, absolute classics. Keep on rocking, homie
Signalwave is like paper mache, it uses some newspaper and make something interesting, it won't have much clay or other materials added to it, and it just works on it's own.
hey pad! great vid, def gonna try the 'i have no mouth and i must scream'/infinity frequencies combo one of these days!
im curious about your use of they/them when referring to infinity frequencies. do they use they/them pronouns? or do you not know what their pronouns are, and default to they/them? im non-binary myself, so i love learning about other artists who use they/them
when i wake up to a new pad video i know it will be a good day
Why did i get a notification from this when i watched it already
I was looking forward to this
enjoy! and have a nice weekend!
Been waiting for this ❤️
I think that this music is more liminal type music now that liminal spaces have become a thing and a more solid definition
Computer death is just so 90s/80s but the track withering just sounds empty..
please do this for there album “shrines”
Love infinity frequencies!!! I think you might dig the ` ` ` NEW FIGURE VARIETY series and maybe also a deep dive into my all time favorite INTERNET CLUB
Based Wendigoon plug if I'm being honest. What a swell guy.
Absolutely love that dudes channel hahaha, the best stuff to put on during the work day
@@PadChennington The Conspiracy Iceberg is like eating a whole bag of chips on accident. Lol
I only know of Infinity Frequencies because of TeamSesh Bones !!!! SESH
Yeah he also produced for bones
youre telling me this is like everywhere at the end if time but with a computer?
Checked the artist on spotify. Latest album "Closer than Ever" the cover is a still frame from the MV of Running up that hill by Kate Bush
The taste.
Omg thank you...I love infinity frequencies ❤️
damn, i was quick
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
And all because of a FNAF short that uses one of the songs from Infinite Frequencies is one of the reasons why I am here
Is it an animation of the amatronics laying down looking at a sky under a blanket fort? That’s the one I have seen ig and it was animated by coda animations
@@N00dleSibilings20 Yup, I seen the original
