I’m so excited that you reacted to this one Beth. As many have said it is the must-see version of this song. It builds and builds until Stevie lets loose and becomes a rock goddess possessed by the spirit of Rhiannon.
This version of this song is truly epic. I believe she literally transforms into Rhiannon in this performance. Dare I say there is something of Rhiannon in you in your reaction 🧙♀️ ❤
“Rhiannon” and “Sara” are my favourite tracks by FWM. The backing vocals in their studio versions are so gorgeous on both, soothing even, the harmony… 🤍
I named my daughter Sara after specificly the version on the live album they released in 1980 from the Tusk tour. My daughter turns 21 on Friday December 6th.
I'm SO glad you did this one. This is BY FAR THE BEST live version of Rhiannon. You get a really nice section of Christine McVie on the keys/organ AND an extended outro, not on the album version, that is just magic. Not only that but everyone was just 110% on their game that night.
This, for me, is the best live version of this song, Beth, thank you for doing this excellent analysis of Stevie Nicks and Rhiannon, being Welsh myself this song has always had a special place in my heart.

If you haven't seen it you would enjoy the documentary film "Sound City" about the famous recording studio in Los Angeles. Directed by Dave Grohl, it tells the stories of many bands who recorded there, and Fleetwood Mac is a big part of the story. Also Dave invites many artists into his studio (he purchased the Neve mixing board when Sound City closed) including Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, Rick Springfield and others to jam. Lots of info and really fun!
This video sound so much faster pace than what it was on the radio back in the day. Maybe so that they could fit more songs in their sets during live concerts? Nice reaction😉
Buckingham on guitar was right on for what the song needed. Nothing more, nothing less. His guitar could've went mental but he knew to control it thoughout the song. Stevie was very aware where the song should be. It had to be ethereal. She had the intelligence to put it there.
