Wow!! Just like my Jamaican mother used to make it, except in the UK she used cinnamon bark and cloves. I love my sorrel and I drink this almost every day (alcohol free). I sweeten it with Agave syrup which is lower on the glycaemic index than sugar. Agave does not spike the blood like sugar but it is calorific, however, it is a better alternative for blood sugar. It is great for boosting the immune system as it is high in antioxidants and vitamin C, very good for the colder months here in England to protect against colds and viruses, but equally as good chilled as a refreshing drink in the warmer months. It is also known to control high blood pressure and a client of mine remarked how it has helped him tremendously control his blood sugar levels. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with the world. You make it look so good! Wish I was there to taste it with you. Have a blessed day. Carol Organic x

I grew some last year from some fresh one I bought the previous year and was lucky to get a good harvest so I froze some. Its lovely to enjoy sorrel drink all year round esp when friends visit from overseas.

I couldn’t find the fresh sorrel this year so I used the dried one. I spiced mine with:
    root ginger
    cinnamon stick
whole cloves and/or dried pimento seeds
fresh orange peel (didn’t have time to dry it), and
    a fistful of uncooked rice.
    I avoid powdered spices.
I introduced the sorrel drink to some of my foreign clients and it was fun listening to them trying to decipher the spices in it. The sorrel was the drink of the night.

highEQlevel just use regular ground cinnamon.. also. Don’t boil. As she said many times in the video. Lastly, you probably don’t have enough water

      Hi highEQlevel,
Cinnamon sticks work very well. The powder doesn’t work as well. As a matter of fact I avoid all powders.
