    Pepe thanks for the videos. I’m air layering an avocado that has fruit buds on it. I’m concerned that once I cut the branch, it will not be able to support the fruit buds as they develop into haas avocado fruit. Any suggestions how to reduce the stress

      Never tried an avocado air layer. Usually graft to seedlings. Good experiment and I know people have have air layered avocado. You should be OK. Thin out the fruit use a bamboo for support. Best wishes and let me know how it goes.

    Great video. I have a question. How do I keep bugs from getting to my white guava tree? I tried using pantyhose but some of them still got infested by the bugs.

      Try plastic bags from supermarket. One or two tiny holes for water drainage and air. Should work. Also the Ruby Supreme guava is thicker skinned and resists infestation. Thanks for stopping by. :-)

    Hi Pepe! What are your thoughts on air layering mangoes? Most articles I read say that mango trees grown from air layering are not 'vigorous' & need to be grafted to specific, hardy root stocks.

      Better to graft them. Always better for sure. That is conventional wisdom for Mango, Avocado and many other fruit trees.

      @@Pepesplants Thank you Pepe! Could you please make a video on why those fruits are better grafted? That would be awesome!

      Chris from Truly Tropical mentioned in one of her videos that an air-layered plant does NOT have a tap root! That may be the reason, at least in the early years.

    I did a bark inversion on one of my mango trees 5 years ago. Have you heard of this before?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did that years ago on some bonsai plants, good idea. I think I will do it to my peach tree. Forgot all about that. Wow. Thanks for mentioning that. Did your mango do well with that bark reversal?

      Pepe's Fruit Trees I put the link to my video where I show some grafting process. It took a good year for it to recover. I thought I was going to lose it. I've stumped mangoes in the past and they usually start to see growth in a few weeks. Strange thing about that tree is that i believe without a doubt that it changed the taste of the fruit. I've talked to a few experts and none of them can explain why this happened. This was my first tree that I ever grafted that took. I got the budwood and cut it off myself from the tree. Even the shape was different. th-cam.com/video/PAI68xJZ8QEh/w-d-xo.htmlttps://th-cam.com/video/PAI68xJZ8QE/w-d-xo.html

      This link does not work the other below does. Will post a video soon on a bark inversion. I do know that Carlos from My avocado trees on You tube lost a tree to a bark inversion. Will explore more in the year ahead. Let's keep in touch. Have a great one!
