I never heard of this place until recently. I was going thru old slides of my parents East Coast trip from Ontario in 1974, this was one of their stops. I had to look it up. Great documentary. Too bad it was so far away from where we lived in Ontario. I never had the opportunity to go as a child. Lots of great memories for many folks.
As a child, the cartoon map illustrating all the attractions was the most exciting part. The overwhelming feeling of not knowing where to start blew my little mind!
Rainbow valley was my childhood. Still to this day I'm so heartbroken it's gone.im now a mother and my child would have gone crazy over Rainbow valley. Even thou there are bits and peice of Rainbow valley still in P.E.I.its not the same..I would do anything to have that magical beautfuil wonderful place back for my child to have the same experience.Thankyou for the memories fun and joy.
This was the greatest place to spend a day with all your family and relatives! When I was your, and I brought my girls and lots of friends, it made wonderful memories for me as a child, along with the next generation of children. I know a lot of hearts off young and older were broken the day we heard it was do to close , that summer it was missed and still is by MENY Islanders and tourists! Thank God no one can take away are memories! Thank you RAINBOW VALLEY FOR ALL THE YEARS WE HAD TO ENJOY YOUR BEAUTIFUL PARK .
Rainbow valley is by far some of my best family memories. There was something there for people of all ages. Nothing in Cavendish can even come close to being as good as rainbow valley. It will be missed 😟
I remember rainbow valley as a kid with my family..Always had such a blast ..so many memories love watching this video of the old rides and just being there was so great..thank you for the memories
There is an empty hole in my heart for Rainbow Valley. I still am very sad and cry thinking about it sometimes. I wish it were still around and that I could have taken my children to experience it.
My parents took me and my sister to Rainbow Valley when we went on a vacation to PEI one year. It seemed to me like the epitome of old-timey charm -- perfect for PEI. Interesting to hear how it all came together and what a labor of love it was.
Thanks for sharing! One of my favourite spots on earth. So glad my children (and I) can now enjoy many of Rainbow Valley's attractions at ShiningWaters. In that way the memories live on!
We just visited PEI this weekend. I didn't know they sold to Parks Canada. Went for a stroll through the trails and was trying to remember where everything used to be. The shooting gallery, the miniature village, the waterslides, the petting zoo, the witches cave. So many amazing memories as a child.
I grew up going there and thats the best place in the world and i wish it was still here i would bought it and keep it going but now its to late its gone
LOL a lot of kids and adults too even tho all my not admit to it , but I say it gave everyone a bit of a fright ,I remember not wanting the people in front or behind me to see me nervous , those were the great ole days !
I tried to act bravely in there but my mother jumped from being scared of something and slammed my head against the wall. I started crying and the whole family just assumed I was terrified. This is the first time I've told anyone T H E T R U T H
Great video, the memory I have that stands out is of a boy and a girl playing on old faithful trying to get the geyser to shoot when she told the boy to look down it. the moment he did the geyser went off and blasted him in the eye. he was wailing and crying, meanwhile I had to catch up to my family. I don't think anyone came to help him, I'm sure he was alright after that...maybe
Cheers Matt from Calgary, you totally sparked the memory switch for me, I was born in Salem Massachusetts, but both parental units are Spuds, lol, and every summer I couldn't wait to get to Rainbow Valley, and that other place that had that giant wooden slide! What is the name of that place?
i really wish they didn't shut down i really wish they just moved were shining waters went they should have just got a new location and still called it rainbiw valley but i do know were the location were rainbow valley is and it near made me cry seeing the area with nothing but trees and a walking area
I lived in Nova Scotia and never heard of Rainbow Valley until now. At the end I had an understanding that a national park was going to take the park and it would go on for a long time so people could still enjoy it. So what happened to that plan?
Most of the old attractions were relocated to the newer Shining Waters park nearby. Parks Canada took over the old land and you can still walk through it but it’s just trails and memories now. It’s a big part of my childhood. It was nearly a yearly trip for us back then. I was sad to see it go but happy some of the things live on at Shining Waters.

Agreed! Items from Rainbow Valley are across the street at Shinning Waters and in Kensington at the Haunted Mansion. Very cool to relive them!

Man went here as a kid so many times. Fantastic place. The map you’d get and the water slides were my favourite.
Wonderful memories playing music there. Earle and Mary are wonderful people. I miss those magical summers. Sue and Dennis Amon( Family Crest)

Way different than the Rainbow Valley in Washington state!
That's what I'm saying
