That is so true! What sucked here is that like most of The Voice Kids versions, they are all prerecorded before time like UK 2020 version was prerecorded since like January so those few months that pass changes happen

I don't think anyone on earth would question Dara's voice. I can't wait until he grows into his new lower register and see what he can do with that tool. He's got to have a good music teacher who can help guide him, so he doesn't damage the instrument.

@B Ogden I completely agree. They shouldn't have allowed him to perform. I know he wanted to make it, but protecting his vocal chords is just as important as winning. Yes, he has a great falsetto, and did a great whistle at the end, but most of his regular voice fall-offs were pitchy due to breaks. It wasn't anything he could control. It's just a natural part of life. Some singers are lucky to still keep the ability to naturally hit high notes without needing to kick in with the falsetto, Dimash is a great example. Dimash's vocal range, even before going into falsetto, is probably the best I've ever heard. It's okay to sing through puberty, but trying to press notes that your vocal chords just can't hit naturally anymore, can cause damage, and lead to the inability to sing after the change is complete. I still loved Dara's performances. There are two things about him that drew me in immediately... 1) He's a ginger. 2) His name is not far off from my own (Darian). This combo is important, because my oldest grandson is a ginger, and his parents named him after me. It's so sad his parents didn't know he could sing. Hearing that actually broke my heart. It's such a shame that gift wasn't shared much, much sooner in his life.

There were moments in the finale where you heard the clarity of his adult voice, and I think once his voice changes completely he will have just as amazing of a voice, just with more of a lower register. Given the changes his voice were going through at the time he had to sing, I think he did an amazing job.
@@DarianCaplinger I agree....I don't think he should have performed. Not just for the reason of protecting his vocal cords like you mentioned, but also for his self esteem. Being on TV and putting the pressure on yourself to perform like you had in the previous rounds, even though your voice physically couldn't do it. It's sad they put so much pressure on kids to be on TV when they obviously shouldn't have been on at that particular time. It is the finals, and it is all about money and advertising after all...sadly.
@@veniceudtohan5612 It's called experience. In my school days, I was a regular in all the drama department plays, including musicals. We had a boy in the 7th grade who wrecked his voice by trying to push it too hard in the 6th grade. His voice literally changed over one night, during which he had a cold. The day he returned to rehearsals, the music teacher told him and his parents he should not be in the play, until he retrained his new tone to sing. They didn't listen, and by the following year, he could hold a proper note if you asked him to. I understand parents wanting to push their children to succeed, but you have to think about what's best for them at the moment as well. I felt so sad for him.
I feel like the only reason Dara did not win was because of the voice cracks, and that REALLY BOTHERS ME, because he is really good! AND he should have won!!!

Wonderful performance that was made memorable by the changing voice, he will struggle to sing like that again but he will never have to worry its been recorded.
It's a shame when these child prodigies, especially males, hit puberty their voices completely change and all those high notes they're not able to hit anymore.

@@jusch0765 we feel differently. Nature or not, when their voice changes to ME it's a shame. Their vocal coaches will have to work with their new deeper voices and they're rarely as good as when they were younger. Girls tend to have an easier transition when they hit puberty than young boys.

1st and 3d solo performance was fantastic, his voice matched the 3d song so well it was just magic to my ears, he has a great voice

dara should have win cause even that his voice changed his still did his best and if I were going to pick the winner I should have picked dara because he is the one that should really won because his voice is still there but can't get out because of the puberty that hits him.

There are so many other Phil Collins' songs that would have been MUCH better options. I truly LOVE "Against All Odds," but it doesn't have a defined melody to the verses which would make it really hard to sing. Plus it is a little too "adult" in my opinion for someone Dara's age. The way his voice changed made it even harder for him to sing this song. When Paloma found out his voice had changed so drastically, she should have changed songs, and picked something more basic to sing. You could tell Dara was really stressed singing the song. Another Paloma error. The one year she was on the adult version of the Voice UK I felt she made the show about her, not the people she had on her team. I was glad to see she didn't come back on that version.

I remember how embarassing it was when my voice cracked just in front of a room full of classmates. I cannot imagine risking it in front of millions with all the pressure on a boy could be expected to handle. Confidence can be a very fragile thing at that age when everything about you is changing.

He did NOT lose his voice ! It’s cause he is going thru puberty....everyone goes thru it and his voice is changing as he gets older this was filmed over months because of corona
