LUKULI is the correct spelling of the location in Kampala and not "Rukuri." That is not a Luganda name. The same applies to the LUBAGA hill at the cathedral in the city, often misspelled as "Rubaga." which it is not. So are a number of Luganda names around, which have been wrongly spelled for years. One that comes to mind is the outstanding King's College at BUDDO hill. That is the correct spelling and not "Budo." NAMIRYANGO College, often misspelled as well, is not "Namilyango." In the Luganda language the vowels a, o and u are followed by the letter L, whereas the letter R follows only e and i.
Therefore, there are no Luganda words that begin with the letter R, unlike in the indigenous languages of western Uganda. As much as the enemies of the Luganda language have tried to distort it, we the guardians will remain vigilant. Try as they can, they will never succeed.
