    Damm 🤯
Watched a lot of TH-cam woodworking and this is something brilliant I've not seen before!
Gotta love kiwi ingenuity & #8 wire mentally

Great idea! I’m in the U.S.- this would be absolute mind games to do in imperial. I think I’ll go with metric lol

Lol, I was going to show how this could be done with imperial but my head started to hurt!
Having given it some more thought, I think it could work well if you are happy to work down to 1/16". The tricky part would be making a 1/16" spacer. You would first need to find magnets at 1/16 and cut a spacer that holds together at this thickness (nylon might be a better material than MDF). As was mentioned in the comment by ken, you could use washers in a very thin spacer - it would just have no holding power. Assuming the 1/16" spacer can be made, you would then make 15 spacers between 1/16" and 15/16". Then make spacers in the 1" range up to whatever measurement you like. 4 spacers at 1, 2, 3 and 4" would be a close match to the metric measurements I made. I think that makes sense?
Or just make metric spacers and convert your imperial measurements when you need them!

Brilliant concept, thank you for sharing this with us! I'm about to remake a whole house and shed full of cabinetry in the coming months - this is definitely going to help!

Nice, and for the occasional odd size it'd be worth making one to the exact size for that job! Excellent idea, if I wasn't already subscribed, this video would have earned a subscription from me!

Thanks! And totally agree. Since making this video, I've added a dedicated 3mm (1/8") spacer to the set which will mainly be used for spacing drawer fronts.

I think you just dropped sales of Kreg hinge jig. Brilliant idea I just wished I thought of it. I’ll make some for sure thanks

Haha, sorry Kreg! I will be using the Kreg pocket hole jig in one of my next videos, so that should make up for it. Glad you like the idea, thanks.

Can you explain and show that good quality measurement system on your table saw. I would like to add this to my Craftsman 10 inch table saw. Thank you for a good video.

I was referring to the rack & pinion fence system for my Dewalt table saw. It's very precise and my cuts come out very close to the measurement dialed in (which you can see at 0:32 in the video). Many reviews for Dewalt table saws mention the same thing. Thanks.

Hi. Can you please tell me what software do you use to create models?

    Nice....why not a 5mm a four 1mm strips.
You could inlay metal washers into the 1mm strips

That's a good idea for anyone who needs to drop below the 10mm spacer - thanks. I don't think I've ever tried to cut MDF at 1mm. If it's not strong enough at this thickness, nylon plastic would be a good alternative.

This is basically wooden gauge blocks, just sized better for the task. Nice

Thanks for letting me know about gauge blocks! I just looked at what they are and see they are commonly used by machinists.

@@kiwiworkshop gauge block can also be very useful for setting table saw blade height and fence distance from blade

@@ApteryxRex I didn't think of those applications and will definitely keep them in mind - thanks
