This is a really helpful video, thank you. It's really hard to find true information about noise levels. You find some statements chucked out on forums, but this is the only real comparison I've seen.
Hi Mark - oh that’s good to know. I basically was answering the question I asked sweetwater ( who couldn’t answer it) - as in, how quiet is the paraeq compared to the other ones. I wish I could have thrown a modded boss one in - THAT is still a question for me. But the results I found were pretty obvious. 🍻
That’s great - I was hoping someone found the comparison useful. Really highlights the difference. Apparently analogueman do a mod for the boss. That would be great as I actually prefer the sliders. 😅
What version of the GE-7 is that? (Made in Malaysia or one of the older ones?) The made in Malaysia ones are supposed to be much lower noise. There's also mods for older GE-7's to remove the noise and increase headroom.
Yes sir! I still have the boss as well - but without that mod the hiss is a bit much. So yeah still on the board right after the compressor from the same company. 🍻
Old style Boss GE-7 with old style PCB inside when modded is near silent for a lot less money !! But can you find an old style new ones came in about 2022 😢 don’t know what they sound like. As for MIJ or elsewhere BOSS GE-7 it makes no difference. All noisy unless modded.
@@JeremyJames_studio Analogman does a fantastic job with this mod. On their website ''upgrading the IC chips and tone capacitors. We replace the cheap stock tone capacitors with high quality film capacitors like we use in the rest of our effects. This improves the overall clarity of the pedal''
Cheers Pete, bit of a departure from the normal programming but I did have this question on the pedal before buying...so maybe someone will be interested to hear this 😅
It’s a great bit of kit. Just bought their compressor - also great. Could never get on with how the origin effects compressor changed the sound - but the empress with is more gentle and shape- able. Anyways 😁

Thanks! This is the video that I was searching for, the paraeq really worth the money!

I had the Boss Equalizer in the 80s...it was very noisy going through a 150-watt Ampeg amp. I like this comparison and the Para eq.
Badfinger 20? 🧐 That you Max?!
@@JeremyJames_studio Who else Jeremy lol.
@@badfinger20 I wondered how many badfingers could have had an outsized ampeg amp in the 80s/90s...I had my suspicions for sure
I’m loving my Para Eq , empress knocked it our the park
Even the shade of blue is just right 🤩
Thanks for the review! ❤
Thanks Mukyblues! When's your next video coming out?

It’s a made in Taiwan version - pretty old. The mod is possible but living in hong kong makes organising /postage a little too complicated~!
1:08 Out of interest, what program are you using here?
Hi, that’s just the hx stomp interface you get when connecting the unit to the computer via usb. Much easier to make changes than on the unit itself!
Is the GE-7 in this vid MIT or MIM? I’ve heard that the Malaysian SMT versions are quiet.
This was a made in Taiwan pedal - ideally there are others a touch quieter as you say
1 year later, do you still use it ?

Thanks I didn’t know that - I wonder what the easiest way to mod them is?

@@Worldwideguy96I’m going to look into shipping - would be so much easier to live in the states!
Nice!

I thoroughly enjoy your lessons but also enjoy these kind too! Btw great choices for lessons
Empress eq knock out the other by front kick at the start !! I didint expect that will be so much difference.

very quiet...
Yes, noticeably so.
