    Just finished my third race in the PDX, in rugged Monument Valley on the Navajo Nation. Despite a snow-flecked sandstorm, they performed superbly on dunes, slick rock, and muddy single track with plunging ascents and descents on technical terrain. The PDX has substantially improved my cadence in such tricky situations! It enables you to run with greater confidence. Highly recommend!

    Customising the length of the lugz is awesome, but i think if you can relug a shoe when they are ground away, when the upper is still fine, that would really be bang for your buck...

    Wow. Didn’t expect this video be such interesting and informative. Huge respect to guys for trying to bring technologies from mountain biking and basketball to running shoes. But it is still too expensive :)
    PS
    Are you going to sell spare parts for this shoe? Like new eva module if the original is worn out?

    Would these shoes be suited for daily outdoor work. For example rough terrain, grass, gravel, sticks etc. But also just standing stationary for long periods of time

    When you're a pioneer the old gaurd will resent your rebellion! In time, with education and exposure they will understand. I appreciate the existence of this brand and these guys. No one should be insulted by the price when there has been much thought and respect given to the development and athlete. We are not triathlon, not cycling, not skiing. But we deserve equipment options of the highest standards.

      @@dylanbowman8522 absolutely. My mission is to see Ultra create a space for serious amateur competition. Like marathon with BQ, triathlon/cycling with individual and team competition. Ultra needs a space for established amateur competition NOT strictly for the elites or rising elite. I see brands like Speedland as a positive step in that direction. I'd love to brainstorm this in your coffee hour meetings over at Freetrail.

    Really interesting but the price is still shocking for a trail shoe ! It could only be justified by a really exceptional durability...

      @Freetrail  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally get it. FWIW, the durability really is incredible.

      @@Freetrail I believe you right away, but I can buy 3 pairs of my regular trail shoes for this price and I've done everything up to 100 miles ultra trails on my regular shoes. The question then is of this shoe can go 1500+ miles.... otherwise the price is prohibitively high to many runners. I really appreciate the innovative approach and I'd love to give these a try... but I am a 2500+ mile/year runner. I go through a LOT of shoes. If I need to start paying $375 per pair of running shoes... ouch.
      It's a brand to keep an eye on though.

      @Freetrail  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CyrrusNL Yep, I get it. We're hoping to have a more affordable option in the fall. The Boa is fantastic! I've never had issues with it coming undone. thanks for watching and commenting!

    really interesting shoe, but good lord that price! Would need to get ~1500 miles or so out of them to really justify it (for myself at least)

    • @Freetrail
      @Freetrail  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally get it. I will say, they are very durable -- more so than other brands I've worn. I have a pair with ~450 miles that still feels great. The PBAX midsole has almost no sign of wear. The more cushioned version scheduled for fall release will likely last a ridiculous amount of time.

    • @briannalia6440
      @briannalia6440 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't get the price response when you open your mind to consider other outdoor sporting. Rock climbing, skiing, winter clothing, cycling, camping/long trail backpacking, golf and even bowling have similar or massively increased equipment cost. options

    • @nwOutdoorAdventures
      @nwOutdoorAdventures 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@briannalia6440 Seems like a logical response given there are other companies that are offering a competing product at 1/3rd the price.
      Now as I said in my original comment, IF the shoes have some insane durability or if we start seeing the athletes that are using these shoes breaking records there may be some argument to justify the price.
      Until then, I think it will be a tough sell to the average trail runner, but perhaps that isn't there target market anyways...

    • @briannalia6440
      @briannalia6440 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nwOutdoorAdventures you've illustrated my point. There isn't a competitor offering the exact same product for 1/3 the price. They have been fully transparent with what materials go into their package. If you compare a Hoka or TNF carbon trail shoe to Speedland you're not comparing equal build specs and those details matter. At the end of the day $375 for a piece of hand crafted equipment with no sacrifice on material for a sport that most 100 mile events cost $250-$400 entry fee seems entirely reasonable. Why scoff at price when the brand is unapologetically honest about the components of the shoe? I have bigger issues with a $160 shoe that brings 3-5 year old technology.

    In your podcast and here its not clear what your relationship is, as I think you say in the podcast that you are not sponsored by Speedland in the traditional sense. So can you clarify? Looks an amazing preformance shoe and great analogy to road bike shoes.
