    Every video I watch of you inspires my Poi play more and more. You are by far one of the most fluid Poi teachers I have found and by far the most effective teacher. I hope to be picking up your Beyond Basics series soon.

    I watched this video back in 2009 when I still new and it's been WAAAAAAAAAAY longer than 2 years since I've done many two beat weaves. Thank you again for having posted these lessons, they're the gifts that keep on giving.

    absolutely essential tutorial! Thanks Nick! I really did find it difficult at first to jump back into 2 beat variations. I need to remember to keep practicing the building blocks, it's always worth it, and this is one of the most important ones.

    You're absolutely right, when you learn the 3 beat weave, you forget the 2 beat weave. And then, you stuggle like hell to do it again!! It used to be so easy, and now it seems impossible! ^^'

    Wow I was just beating myself up on the beach last night trying to figure out the backwards 3 beat weave and the I came across this, this morning thank you thank you the whole point for me was so I could connect my weave with my windmill. I did notice that is was difficult to go back to a 2 beat about a week ago so now when i practice i make sure to practice both interchanged I'm so grateful you do these videos

    I love how you still look impressed with yourself when you pull off a weave (Around 7:20) :) have been spinning for about 6 months now... I lost my 2 beat when I went onto 3, and completely lost it when I hit 5, Don't even think about it now I am on 7, Could never link them into a windmill without a nice face smash! THANKS MAN!!!!!!

    your point of the hand on top "leading" the weaving process also is somehow the point of one of the ways i like to teach the 3bw. the concept of it would be the 3bw being a combination, a constant switching between both 2bweaves. what's nice ybout that way is people can reaaaally concentrate on one way, then the other, instead of every poispinners nursery rhyme "over, under, out". it's also a nice way of finding out what's your personal, favourite leading hand.
    so much about wayward babbling xD

  • @xinrra
    @xinrra 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jaja, that was surpisingly extrange, because i love to do kind of a circle making 3beat weave on the left 2beat on the fet an other 3 beat wave on the right and the windmeell ( 2 beat on the heat) and i never realize that i was actualy doing that transitorial 2 beat weave, i think that i will start to practice that exercice that i never took that importance for me.
    Tanks Nick for your inspirational and helpfull videos.

    Hi Nick, as for playing around with 2-beat-weaves: I tried to do a weave with one poi spinning forwards an one backwards. The result was a kind of 2-Beat-Weave. The pattern reminds me a bit of caps, if you look at it sidewards. Maybe that move has a name already (opposite weave? pseudo-caps for beginners?)? Sure I diden't "invent" it! I can't remember to have seen it in your vids - but still haven't watched all of them yet... Thanks a lot for all your awesome and really helpful tutorials!!!

    any ideas on why that's happening?

  • @Chrno216
    @Chrno216 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Whenever I first started to poi, I decided I wanted to take the adventure of only learning by watching other people, no lessons. This was good and bad in many ways, I kept a beginners mind but having never had any martial arts experience I wasn't able to learn as much as fast as I wanted to. As a result, it wasn't until two years after I had discovered how to do the three beat weave that I ever even tried doing a two beat weave! .....That was hard to say the least.....

  • @PoiDoctorSound
    @PoiDoctorSound 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @loganator00 I know you weren't asking me, but i figured i could answer your question. I currently own two sets of flowlights, two luna, a sol, and a custom flowlight. As they are, flowlights are extremely impact resistant, however with the crystal cases, which in my opinion is a must, your flowlights get even more impact resistance. i however have seen a flowlight break even in a crystal case, but this was under extreme impact. so just be kind to them and they will return the favor.

  • @PoiDoctorSound
    @PoiDoctorSound 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Chrno216 I don't know about his reasoning for going through that many that quick, i have had mine for months and the only one that broke was due to the fact that my friend was spinning it extremely fast and the exact center of the poi impacted the corner of a table, split the case of the light itself in half, however one trip to cvs and a purchase of tape later and it was back in commission, still is to this day.

      spinballs is about as cheap as you can go on amazon for 20$. You get what you pay for but they work. I like the feel of my sock poi more then them, but its fun to use them at night. I use them for practice because sometimes it makes it easier to see where the poi are going for learning new tricks since they are lit up.
