Every vocalist era of this band has had its defining song for me-Matteo with Gravity, Tobias with Lost Cause, and now Camille with this. It’s amazing how each of them brings something fresh while still carrying that unmistakable Novelists sound (Flo's guitars ftw). Their evolution keeps me hooked, and this latest track proves they’re still pushing boundaries.
Discovered Novelists in the pandemic era shortly after Matteo left the Band and experienced them live on 3 different concerts. The first one was with Tobias as opener for Bury Tomorrow and August Burns Red. It was sad, that the time with Tobias in the band was cut short but then with Camille joining the band after she already worked as co-vocalist on "Cest La Vie" and also on "Alive" from LANDMVRKS beside her "Bliss Sigh"-Project with Nicolas Exposito from LANDMVRKS is one of the best things that could happen to the band for having the perfect USP in the metalcore-scene. Since Camille joined the band i got to experience them two times live. The first one was alongside Ashen, Elwood Stray and The Word Alive and the second one with Ten56 and Northlane on a crazy night because Ten56 got one special support from Matteo. I also experienced that Novelists is a very nice, humble and down-to-earth Band which makes them a lot more special for me. Now with the new album on sight and also releasing on the same day like the new album from Bury Tomorrow will be a very special day in may for me. "All For Nothing" is another great release with a crazy and visually stunning video - exactly like "Coda".
You should check out the b-side song they released with CODA called K.O. No video or anything, so probably no react, but it is a hauntingly beautiful song like this one.
I've always found Novelists a little bit of a conundrum for me. They were good and the musical skill of the members was never in doubt for me. but it just never quite *clicked* for me to be more than an occasional listen. But man, bringing Camille in has brought such a refreshhing change to the band. They really seem to have created a new style and sound that build on their past but is going to kick down so many doors for them. And they deserve it, they seem like such kind and decent people. I can't wait for them to get back to Australia soon because I'll be there.
They played this song the other night, thought it was a banger then, and after hearing the studio version, it still is. They seem like great people, humble, and even hung out at the merch stand after the gig. I asked if they were releasing an album this year, and they'd just announced it an hour earlier. Camille seemed very excited about it! So yeah, I'm very much looking forward to what they have in store for this album. I dig most of their albums, although I didn't vibe that much with Deja Vu either.
They absolutely are as they did the same thing when I saw them last year. Love these guys and it's honestly great hearing that they do that regularly instead of it just being a fluke lol.
This song just goes to show overproduction isn't a problem when the ideas presented actually feel fresh. Another superb single, looking like a high aoty contender without a doubt.
I'll be honest, with the first single they released with Camille, I was not convinced, but since then, it has become my favorite era of Novelists. I'm really glad they decided to still experiment even tho they could've gone more "mainstream".
Yeah honestly Turn it Up was probably my least favorite song on Okapi. It’s ok, but songs like Mourning the Dawn and Prisoner were what really drew me into Camille era
1- All For Nothing 2- K.O. 3- Coda 3 absolute bangers, yeah, 15th may is too far. I'm starting to feel that new album with Camille might top Noir, one of my favourite album of all time
Love Novelists, with both singers, but I tend to gravitate more toward Camille's voice. This a great blend of harsh and melodic - very skillfully mixed. I can't even remember the name offhand, but I love that "Brrr rat ta ta ta" song they did. Lmao - don't be mean, that's all I remember from it.
Completely agreed with you, SOUVENIRS AND NOIR have their best sound, at least the sound that made me a huge fan. I am still trying to dig Camille as the vocalist, I know nowadays bands opt to upgrade their sound, but sometimes coming back to that signature sound is so pleasant.
If you're talking about Matteo then there's the sad possibly that it's from a song that had been in the drafts since the Matteo days and that they'd have that nod to him helping originally come up with the song. Obviously it'd be incredible if that wasn't the case but we just don't know yet :/
Matteo wrote this, he’s listed as a writer. Besides that, they do this annoying thing with her unclean vocals where it sounds like she’s recorded in the next room it’s annoying 5/10 very mid.
This is the best guitar duo in metal and they are not even trying . The best thing the band has done since the departing of Matteo is of course Camille, but bringing Pierre Danel on board has given their music a new lifeline. This is notably better than CODA, and CODA was really good. This one is 10/10.
All For Nothing or Coda?
Both 🙋
I loved Coda on first listen. All For Nothing is taking more time. Very excited for the album to drop!
All For Nothing... But i love Coda too
All For Nothing!! But both are bangers!
Coda personally but I love both, already preordered the vinyl!
Glad you liked it man! Thank you 🤍
All the singles have been absolute heaters so far. You guys are killing it 🔥
Absolutely loving this Novelists era. She's unlocked so many directions for them!
One of the most underrated guitarists in the game.
100%
Both are actually great but man Pierre is just god tier especially his softer melodic jazzier stuff
@@theopinson3851 I met the man last year after a show and he was super humble and sweet too, just such a legend, love him
first time hearing this band. sounds awesome! and, thank god, seems like modern bands starting to bringing back guitar solos. it's really cool
Hell yeah!! We need more solos in modern metal

I agree ❤🎵👍

This is my favorite song so far of 2025. The last single was INCREDIBLE, this album is gonna be amazing. Novelists are sooo back!
This song just goes to show overproduction isn't a problem when the ideas presented actually feel fresh. Another superb single, looking like a high aoty contender without a doubt.
this bangs, her vocals and melodies are so good
I've recently been on their concert with TesseracT and they played this song. They were both on fire 🔥🔥🔥
That would be such an unreal show!
@@METALBIRB indeed, it was my first time on metal concert

@@Sweetoos_Saw that combo in DK. Was bangin 🤘🏻
They've grown so much! Becoming a favorite of mine
So glad you're on the hype train for this album :D. This new era is just amazing. Been a fan for years, but wow.
Hell yeah, I saw them live yesterday and they killed it
amazing song. and reaction!!!

The perfect mix of Pvris and Spiritbox. Chefs kiss 😘
1- All For Nothing
2- K.O.
3- Coda
3 absolute bangers, yeah, 15th may is too far. I'm starting to feel that new album with Camille might top Noir, one of my favourite album of all time
Ooooh .. I got chills during that little break. Love it 💜💜
I’m legit speechless. This was so good 🔥🤌
Yup between this, Thornhill, Bury Tomorrow, Landmvrks, Architects, Aviana...2025 will be hell of a year ! And more albums can still be announced.
4:13 love this part so much
Great track! Easily one of my most anticipated albums of the year! Love Camille ❤
If you love Pierre Danel as a guitarist you must check his previous work on Kadinja, this band is gem and holy moly (recommend Empire or GLHF)
As luch as i LOVE Camille and she fits so well into the band (and to be fair i'm a huge fan of what they are doing as a band now
New Novelists is so underrated

it is "Prisoner" - Rat ta ta :D
Yes!! That rings a bell. Thanks. @@spowerball
MATTEO IS A GOOAAAAT
we miss him
Spider-Camille. 😂 Another banger.
Well said!
SOUVENIRS
NOIR
C'EST LA VIE
DEJA VU : PT 1
OKAPI EP
et Maintenant we can't wait to hear the CODA album
Souvenirs is banger. Antares is my favourite on that album 🤘🏻
I went running to Genius for the lyrics and had a nice surprise reading who's actually co-writing the upcoming album...🤯
If you're talking about Matteo then there's the sad possibly that it's from a song that had been in the drafts since the Matteo days and that they'd have that nod to him helping originally come up with the song. Obviously it'd be incredible if that wasn't the case but we just don't know yet :/
My heart skips a beat when I hear Camille singing. It really makes the song feel shorter. 😉
Very different feel to the tracks singles so far on this much anticipated album.
Matteo co-written this one by the way :)
I kinda fell out once the last vocalist left but she got so much better over that course of time
Bro you gotta check out Church Tongue. Pure Noise Records.
Metalbird reaction new sound bury tomorrow please, let go
Music fans: After getting a female singer, will Novelists lean into melodics or into harsher, more progressive sounds?
Novelists: Yes.
Anyone else getting Kalindra vibes from 2:30? (Shoutout Birb and Drew Fortune for putting me on)
Still think coda is the best and this would be second
