They have to be the most beautiful diesels...such an elegant design...but God they look tatty and so unloved here. Beautiful camera work as usual Bevan.
nice long lens work there, catching the "haze of efficiency" and that distinctive alco chant. Grew up hearing 44s work illawarra passenger trains, but a quad 44 combo - quite a catch.
It’s the way they were built every Alco smoked like that and the fact these old girls were still fighting is marvellous the 44s were worked hard and still pushed through and for buckets of junk maybe you should consider your comment as junk
The chest pounding sound of x4 44 class Alcos in notch 8, under load is a sound that can't be surpassed👍👏
Wow that was awesome, chased train in the central west of nsw in the 80's with my old man and never saw quad 44's...thanks for the upload..
Great video.Thank you for sharing
Cor, what a fantastic sound! The black clagginess helps.....
Да, на железных дорогах Австралии класс 44 и класс 48 были символом эпохи 50-х и 60-х годов. Очень хорошо что они ещё сохранились!

Those are some ragtag units for sure. They sound glorious though!
Great locomotives. Olde Beasts!
Cracking footage from the good old days.
Gotta love those smokie ALCO's. What ever happened to Priscilla?
2:53: the second locomotive beginning in the left was stopped the engine since the beginning of the route?
Poor old buggers
So sad, 4463 is about to be scrapped.
Sheer railway poetry!!

The smoke. WTF? Get those buckets of junk off the rails . . .
