    No guys, he's not quite back yet. This is old footage from Spring 2016 that I am getting around to editing. We're trying to make a few videos right now, but we have had to shelve most until mid-late April when his eyesight is projected to be mostly restored in the left eye. Thank you guys, we're getting there.
    Bob wants everyone to know that he is going crazy not being able to keep up with replies or message folks back on here and facebook. He's looking forward to hopefully being able to take a goodly portion of the summer to get back to everyone. Still reading all of the comments to him though.

When I came upon your announcement about your medical issues I was deeply saddened. I've shared your videos and story with several friends and coworkers at the veterinary clinic I work at. We're all huge fans and appreciate your deep connection with nature and the land. We're sending all the positive energy we can muster and look forward to seeing new videos again soon! =]

      What an amazingly good wife Bob has in you Shauna. I can't imagine how incredibly heartbroken you must have been and what a burden all of this has been on you, in taking care of him and watching over him, leading and guiding him, helping be an avenue for him to vent frustration with not being able to get up and about--I hope not too many arguments or fights have arisen from this (I have a back disease and the immobility I experience sometimes can lead to the rare heated discussions with my wife from time to time)--but I think you may be an unsung hero here, and I want to tell you that as a huge fan of Bob's I sincerely appreciate all you are doing to take care of him and help him get back to making great content for those of us not fortunate enough to have land like his to use. His videos have always been a way for me to escape from the cramped office and help me deal with being inside all day, especially during the darker, colder months from October to February. Thank you again and hopefully you're not going too insane with the burden and stress of it all!
      Oh, and say hi to Bob for me :) He and I have communicated a couple of times on Facebook.
      All the best, and God bless,
      Daniel

    Bob I’m a survivor/ prepper, and I look at this as an awesome prepper food, it’s a food that I can grow in a kiddie pool in my back yard in the open and it looks like pond scum, meaning that even if someone desided to come and take all my food someday there’s a very good chance that they won’t take this, meaning that I can still eat while others may not be eating, it amazing how many other preppers I’ve tryed to tell about this amazing food and how many have no interest what so ever, the number one rule of survival is it’s not about what you want.. survival is about what you need, .. you might want a stake and a beer, but in a survival situation you’re probably not going to get that, ... what you need is food to stay alive with, and this food supply’s that, and in a very small area and very quickly

    • @nessiedestiny8252
      @nessiedestiny8252 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a pond full of fish, trapdoor snails, frogs, duckweed, horse tail, dandelions, and cattails. The fish eat tadpoles and duckweed. The snails eat decaying matter and fish poop, the frogs eat insects and larvae. In the event of a catastrophe I would have a modest sustainable reserve of sustenance including several thousand gallons of reasonably clear water that could be adequately filtered. Duck weed, cattail, horse tail, and dandelions don't sound particularly appetizing but starvation makes a lot of things taste better, particularly with fish, frog legs, and escargo.

    • @notmyworld44
      @notmyworld44 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think there is anything edible about horsetail reeds, but the stems have a high content of silicon, making them excellent for scouring pots and pans.

    Great videos man.... Makes me want to move to south Texas. The more I watch the more the mid-west doesn't do it for me anymore.

    Duck Weed is great animal feed for rabbits and chickens... probably others but my city doesn't let me have much more than small animals so I can only testify to feeding rabbits and chickens, BTW its so EASY to farm duckweed in a small stock tank. harvest almost all of it and leave a little behind and it will rebound fast.

    Good to see duckweed being featured. The FAO has a good article on duckweed too that deals with fish and animal feeding that is worth knowing. Even if you don't live in a place with large areas of water you can grow duckweed very easily. Yes people do need to be cautious with if they are prone to kidney issues when faced with foods containing oxalate's. On the other hand all that is really needed in a days mixed diet is 100 to 200 grams of mixed vegetation (1/4th to 1/2 pound) per day so you really don't need to consume a lot to benefit from it as vegetation (same applies to other vegetation) and if you are mixed foraging through the day then your total consumption may be far less than is worth worrying about. Oxalic acid in all its forms are toxic to humans but that is a 'spectrum' where calcium oxalate is the most toxic while the acid alone is the least. Phytic acids found in seeds/nuts/beans tend to strip calcium (and other metals) from foods and a good food to strip calcium from is ones with calcium oxalate in them.

      Doesn't cooking destroy most of the oxalate?

    So, based on the last clip regarding oxalic acid:
    if you cook wood sorrel (Oxalis acetosella), you neutralise the oxalic acid in it? If so that would be neat! I eat that stuff raw every now and then (tastes like green apple skin!), but never too much -- because I'm one of those weird people who doesn't want kidney stones or organ failure.

    Yech! All the duckweed I've ever dealt with was in an open waste pond. Basically all the toilets ran out to the open pond and was eaten up by the plants and fish. Wouldn't touch that stuff.

    My question is why you don't have a strap to secure your knife in the sheath? I have lost a knife or two when the strap came unfastened. Probably why I really like the deep pouch type of knife sheath now.
