This is from the album “Relapse”. It’s a dark album where he takes on the persona of a serial killer throughout the whole album. And talks in this accent in the whole album. It’s like a horror movie on an album. It got bad reviews because people didn’t like his strange accent, but it was a crazy lyrical master piece.
Relapse is one of my favorite albums. And stay wide awake has always been one of my all time favorite em songs. I even liked the couple of extra songs he threw in years later on the relapse refill like elevator and the buffalo bill song.
I can guarantee that every person who says that Em "sucks" would completely change their tune of they just sat down and actually listened to him. We most likely will never hear someone like Em ever again in our lifetime so enjoy him while he's still here

The scent of a placenta rhyme was in relation to Tupac's song "Brenda's Got A Baby". Also, the Fee-fi-fo-fum was from the fairytale Jack and the Bean Stalk and when he said sit down beside her like a spider was in reference to the Little Miss Muffet nursery rhyme. Em was definitely in his bag when it came to rhyme schemes and cadence on this song. You guys did nice to notice that. Try the song Stimulate also if you wanna hear another master class in rhyme schemes.
Yeah. I think it was just foreshadowing the horror/murder theme of the song. But I understand "over breakdowning lyrics" with em. I've done it myself. Maybe you're right?

This song is incredible on so many levels. The technical ability displayed with the rhyme schemes and flow is crazy. But, the craziest part is that he's trying to see how much crazy shit he can say but still get you to listen just by flexing his rapping ability. One of my favorites
This song and the whole album it comes from, Relapse, is pure horrocore brilliance. The whole album plays like the greatest of horror films, where Eminem stars as an insane, blood and murder hungry, truly evil, even possessed, serial killer in the same vein as characters such as Norman Bates, Buffalo Bill, Hannibal Lector, Jason Voorhees, and even Leatherface; and real life serial killers like Ted Bundy, Son of Sam, and Ed Gein. It’s a certain horror aesthetic, pushed to the very limits of the extremely dark, horrific, and even scary, more extreme than he ever went before or since, an aesthetic that many of his more casual listeners don’t like or appreciate; even a lot of fans panned this album when it came out. When actually it’s perhaps his most well conceived and most concise, authentically artistic, perfectly executed work of genius that he’s ever made. Or likely ever will make. It was the furthest extreme he’s ever gone, and it goes all the way. He even uses different accents at times, like embodying different characters. And speaking flow wise, lyrically and storytelling wise it’s an immaculate and brilliant piece of work. And the rhyme schemes?? INCREDIBLE. It’s nearly all Shady, no Eminem…and he conceives Shady in this album not as a rap alter ego…but as an actual demon, working through him, that used to only come out in glimpses, but here, he’s taken over completely. Also Dre produced the entire album and made nearly all the beats. And it’s utter perfection. The whole album truly is a work of genius, a brilliant horror film in an album, who’s songs can’t even fully be appreciated unless it’s been listened to from beginning to end. When this album first came out in the late 2000’s, it was poorly received, and wholly misunderstood. It’s only in the last half a decade that it’s been recognized for the work of true artistic genius that it actually is. Eminem isn’t even my favorite rapper. But Relapse has always been my favorite Eminem album, and one of my favorite albums all time. And likely always will be. EDIT: PLEASE DO THE WHOLE ALBUM?? 🙏

when people relapse in drugs they bring out the monster in them... em brought out Slim Shady on the whole album his darker evil side! one of my favourite album from em!
"I'm the kind of guy that's mild but I might flip and get a little bit wilder" - If you flip the word "mild" you get "wild". When it comes to his wordplay and ability to tell a story the man reaches genius level. "Stay away from me 'cause I'm dancin' to quite a different drum beat" - this line gets a new meaning when you realise that the beat of the song is a heartbeat.
Scent of a placenta is a tribute to 2pac's song Brenda's got a baby... he sits next to her on the park bench...every syllable in em's songs have meaning, for those willing to dive into the rabbit holes.
Didn’t appreciate it at the time. I just still wanted his real accent back too much. But going back and listening he was way ahead of his time. It’s an absolute masterpiece
It's a horror story basically. Props for writing it. Having creativity to write fictional stories like Frankenstein, or this...something that can send shivers through your spine, damn. How many horror novels have been made into movies, or how many original horror scripts have been put on the screen. This Wide Awake by Eminem could easily be put in the same category. Crazy Horror writing. It's well written. Very vivid. Of course the imagery is disturbing, but that's what the horror genre is about.
Wonderful job gentleman, your coming around and finally understanding why he is the 🐐 Eminem’s birthday is in October but he is a Libra and the answer to the other song was Medicine Man, “I hope my spirit jumps off a poster and haunts the studio when I’m gone, It flows through halls like the ghost of Lou Rawls” shits fire 🔥 🔥 🔥 keep up the good.
Alot of people didnt understand when eminem ran out of rhyme schemes that he wanted, around 2009 he started using accents and came with a whole new catalog and it was crazy. The accent helps him twist words to rhyme differently and its genius. unbelievable
Hey Brandon, love how far you’ve come with these reactions to Em. Real one. I’m sure somebody mentioned it but just to let you all know, Son of Sam was a serial killer in NYC. Happy belated man.
Brandon does understand the assignment !!! I love seeing him get hyped up. I said this before. He’s very hard to win over. So it’s awesome seeing him get truly hype over this.
Son of Sam aka David Berkowitz was a mass murderer in terrorizing the boroughs of NYC in 1977. He targeted women with brown hair. There’s a motion picture film directed by Spike Lee called “Summer of Sam”
"I'm the kind of guy that's M-ild but I might fip and get a a little bit W-ilder" ... Flip M and you get W. Some artists play with the way words are written. If some artists do it, Eminem does it for sure. Crazy man. Relapse was a special album because he used accents to make different words rhyme on different things, just to bring writing on another level!
Wow, I never caught that, that's HARD tho. Nice job catching that 👍 Reminds me of the "love is evol, spell it backwards and I'll show you" Now try spelling love backwards 😅 Evol is intended to be evil here.

Relapse was a horrorcore album that Em got inspired to make from all the horror movies and research he was getting into at the time, so he presented a very dark album and tried to relate to real psychopathic serial killers with his perspective in the lyrics
RELAPSE ALBUM GENRE is called ACID RAP/DEVIL RAP .. It is a rock horror rap genre been around in Detroit since late 80's - started by ESHAM/ICP/ NATAS, KING GORDY, BIZZARE.. and a few other MC's.
He starts the song rapping about stalking Brenda from the song "Brenda's Got a Baby" by 2pac. Em is a genius and his twisted shit during this era has never been matched.
I am extremely happy to see these young people travel through Eminem's discography and be amazed by this man's talent and vibrate like we vibrated in the 2000s. ❤
It's a symphony, it's an opera, it's a story, it's a rap, it's a song, it's full of bars, and you feel them and you have a theatrical experience in your head. That's why it's so good. 🐐 Great video! 😎
These songs are shock value, there's a lot of them, but its Em showcasing his creativity as a horror fan. (Check 3am) No he isn't out doing the shit lol, but he's showcasing cadence, schemes, Rhymes and themes, and bending words on top of creativity. Yeeh the best album ever
You did a great break down of this, thanks for that! I appreciate it when someone geeks out over the genius that is Em
Relapse is my fav Em album. Massive visual story-telling from start to finish. It's actually a masterpiece.
I thought I was the only one. It’s still my favorite one
Em ain’t write bars because ‘it just rhymes’. He’s a lyrical genius who has multiple meanings for words. His words are carefully penned 🔥💪🏽
Exactly that
Brandon does understand the assignment !!! I love seeing him get hyped up. I said this before. He’s very hard to win over. So it’s awesome seeing him get truly hype over this.
middle one?
React to “Darkness” & “Never Love Again” if you want to see master class lyricism on display by both of those entire songs being double entendres.
Dude. Never love again fucking 🔥
25 to Life also
Every fucking song literally
"Favourite bitch" is a classic also , imma leave it to the guys to catch it ;)
Both songs blew me away when I first heard them. 3/4 of the way through them you realize the songs are an entire double.
Son of Sam aka David Berkowitz was a mass murderer in terrorizing the boroughs of NYC in 1977. He targeted women with brown hair. There’s a motion picture film directed by Spike Lee called “Summer of Sam”
Love y'all's Eminem reactions they are so fire glad I found u guys 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Space bound is a brilliant tune. Fuck! you could put every tune of Eminem's catalogue on every page of the Bible! he has that many banging tracks
so many better songs to react to lmao
Every line almost rhymes, per syllable, with every other line... while telling a story. This is the genius of Em.
This is one of my favorite songs ever and I never caught that. God damn
@@JorgeEPerez978 With em's writing you never know for sure you got it all
I love the accent now but I do admit I clowned on the album for years for it. Definitely a classic tho
@@BankaiFever Same, the new Em ain't my style of hip hop either. It grows on me tho. I will always appreciate the skill & passion behind anything.
Wow, I never caught that, that's HARD tho. Nice job catching that 👍
Reminds me of the "love is evol, spell it backwards and I'll show you"
Now try spelling love backwards 😅
Evol is intended to be evil here.
Im an Eminem fan, been listening to him since i was in 6th grade and saw Smack That on VH1 ( only legit english music channel in India back then , i guess it still is ) and im 29 years old now, i always skipped this song, but it came up on spotify today when i was riding back home. Its been 5 hours now, and im still listening to this one! Thank God; I chose Eminem as my favourite rapper.😊
I Don't believe that you guys do not catch de Placenta Bar... .. amazing
I love this dude with the curly hair… he be catching all them insane bars
Best thing is, he only catches about 20 percent of them🤣
He's my favorite out of the group because he's taking reacting to Em's music seriously. He really appreciating Em and trying to catch the bars.
The guy on the left catches the bars. The guy in the middle looks fried. The guy on the left is on crack or something.
Should start his own channel, he’ll definitely learn a lot more
they black, they all got curly hair LOL
This album is hard, he puts it down after he got sober, but it still has some of his undeniable genius. i think his storytelling is brilliant in "3AM" ... but not sure if you've done that. I'll go look at your Eminem playlist & see what's missing. Really enjoying your reactions.
edit to add...
Request... please create artist playlists of your videos - Eminem would be a great place to start. 😉
Albums a masterpiece
you guys would go mad if you would watch this song's rhyme scheme,
it has a great pattern from start til end
exactly what I thought!
I mean you can hear it the entire time either way. Well some can't I guess.
"Fee fi fo fum, i smell the blood of anglishmen Be he living, or be he dead, I'll grind his bones to mix my bread." comes from Jack and the Beanstalk and Damien is from the omen
Your hype is infectious, the rhyme schemes are truly insane
I'd suggest "Darkness" a newer song with a double entendre storyline about something pretty important.
Just a suggestion. Try not to ruin the surprise of it being a double
@@ToxicBottledOstrichNostrils it's not really a surprise, I'm giving them the tools to take interest in a song???
@@FunnyShorts-Official it’s better when they figure it out on their own. Would you have wanted someone to tell you it was a double entendre or be surprised when it hit you? And most reactor’s ask people not to ruin the song with too many details in the comments
@@FunnyShorts-Official either way I agree with you, they should definitely check it out
@@ToxicBottledOstrichNostrils fs, I get what you were trying to say but tbh I don't think they know enough about em to go in without context and completely understand that song.
Love your reactions. Keep those Eminem reactions coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!v
Son of Sam was a serial killer in the late 1970s in new York
Crazy how when this album came out everyone hated it and knocked him for the accents. Me personally I love the accents and it just confirms how much of a word smith he is
Yeah in an interview he said that he used this middle east accent cause it allowed him to rhyme more syllables
He hates it too
@@nicholasdunlap2275 no not really. He as any artist would liked it when he put it out. After a couple years and not much love from media and fans he said he didn't like it and admittedly used too many accents. But as of late he has actually said he doesn't mind them and is coming around to the album more. You can see that in the song discombobulated where he brings them back
Son of Sam was a killer that struck during a hot summer and one point was during a power outage. No fans, ac, etc. "Melting like Son of Sam"
Fe Fi Fo Fum comes from the old rhyme of 'jack and the bean stalk. "Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman, be he alive, or be he dead. I'll grind his bones to make my bread"
Need to react to 3 am after listening to this song. You’ll understand this song after listening to it. Shock value !
Brandon definitely gets a A+ on this reaction and real talk you have to know things to catch the bars or they go over your head
I totally agree!! You need know your history to catch Eminem bars!!
@@stephanief6724 exactly. They missed the Ted Bundy reference. But its all good... He was before my time.
yall reactions gettin better and better haha much love
No cap…This reaction is legendary
When you realise the girl he’s speaking abouts name is Brenda and he mentioned the placenta and that 2pac had a song called Brenda had a baby! 🤯
I was patiently waiting for you guys
But still waiting for "underground"
Horrorcore at it's finest guys! The picture he paints whilst rhyming is insane...Relapse is amazing 🔥
the "Brenda" line isn’t just a rhyme. it’s a reference to Brenda from a 2pac song. it goes deep. brendas got a baby by 2pac
Finally someone else sees it , salute !
Was wondering why they didn’t catch it. Dude in the back is even wearing a 2pac shirt. Haha😂
@@rockygranillo3824 go look up and down the comment section , I’m wondering how it seems like almost nobody catches it .
And theses are apparent Stan’s in the comments .
It's got fuck all to do with that Brenda, youre reaching
makes sense now if u connect it to the start "i think i smell the scent of a placenta"...Brenda had a baby
Stay Wide Awake might be Eminem's most technical song of all time. It's absolutely insane.
Y’all gotta listen to On Fire. You’ll be screaming from those bars and double entendres that go on and on.
This was one of Em best flows
Hahahah. This was super entertaining. I chuckled so much cause I knew exactly what y'all were getting into.
I have always said, Em needs to give us a horror movie cause it would be whack 🤣
Nice catch on the insane rhyme schemes. They're actually ridiculous when you see the lyric vids where they highlight everything that rhymes 🤯🤯
Pure genius this man is.
Thanks for another great reaction 💙
We enjoy your reactions every time! Keep them rolling..! If you hadn't reacted to Em's song, "Cinderella Man", please do... another fire rap...🔥🤗✌️
I love love love this song. Holding my breath hoping you love it
A song from Em you will love is from the 8-mile track called run rabbit run.... straight savage. 💯
it's not run rabbit run it's just rabbit run
You make me subscribe on this. Em consider this one of his flop albums but the schemes, bars, metaphors and other rap elements are out of the league. Please play this shit at my funeral lets go
Great reactions guys, yall should check out “Music Box” another crazy song with disturbing lyrics (in a good way). also, “Fine Line” is ridiculous as well in terms of rhyme schemes, bars and flow.
Music Box is brilliant. An entire horror film in 4mins!! ✌🏼
Bar catching on Eminem songs is a whole new scale lmao. Once you think you're A tier you find a new layer and get kicked back down to B tier lmao
Seriously though😂I know the lyrics to every single song he’s ever made, and I’m still catching bars to this day. Listened to slim every day for about 15 years and he still surprises me.
This is the Real Slim Shady. How is he being rediscovered, it's only been a decade. Love the reactions...🔥🔥🔥.
You guys have an awesome channel. You guys actually catch a lot of bars, a lot more than other channels and you pay mad respect to em and those other old heads, much love
Insane Clown Posse 😈🤡
If you guys love rhyme schemes and story telling of this song then you should definitely react to “ Underground “ by Eminem next.
Eminem Despicable freestyle next 100%
He starts the song rapping about stalking Brenda from the song "Brenda's Got a Baby" by 2pac. Em is a genius and his twisted shit during this era has never been matched.
Love these guys reactions, reminds me when I first listened, I’m 38.. Been around from when EM started ❤
Classic song!
When you realize the bass is in the rhythm of a human heart beat
Relapse album mostly horror core with insane content/flows…got “bad” reviews/reception in 2009 now it’s a cult classic. Great album
I am extremely happy to see these young people travel through Eminem's discography and be amazed by this man's talent and vibrate like we vibrated in the 2000s. ❤
Em never gives you straight info ...he flows in parables .
I am sure you'll enjoy "Medicine Ball, I'm Back and Rain Man" by Eminem the lyric videos
Truthfully he put a lot of that stuff out while on his drug binge. It's interesting to see his progression
Def love 3am
Bro on the left right away knew that this was gonna be the craziest rhyme scheme. This shit is so smooth. Buddy on the right is fkn hilarious 😂
“Buffalo Bill” would be another good song to react to from this album
React to "Bad Guy" and "Drop the World" with Lil Wayne. Love your reactions
Em's a Libra, sorry bro 😅
Do speedom next. Tech n9ne and Eminem
I gotta say I LOVE yall watching videos from MY generation...... I love your reaction and it makes it so much better than it was when it was new:)
This song is one of those that whenever anyone asks me what they should listen to by Em (been a huge fan since I was a kid) this is one I always recommend. Too slept on
