I have a 2015 10-2EXCD....I have it on my 2009 F-350 SRW.... I camp in it full time April to Nov in the Rocky Mountains. I rarely camp in campgrounds, mostly boondocking. I have taken my TC everywhere...mining roads, through the woods, over mountain passes, places that I probably shouldn't have gone. I have had not one problem with my Northern Lite..they are build tough and to last. My wife loves it also...so comfortable with everything you need to live extended off grid as long as your water holds up. I up graded this last year with lithium batteries and it was a great move...no more worrying about running your batteries down below 50% plus lighter and way more power. Highly recommend these campers...oh and they hold their value...which is nice also.
How long can you run the fridge off propane and/or batteries? He mentioned here the fridge depletes the batteries fairly quickly. And he has the 200ah + 200w solar setup.
@@TW--- I'm not sure how long it will run just off the batteries, I've never been in a situation where I've needed it. In areas where I don't run heat and just the fridge, one 20lb tank runs the fridge from 4 to 5 weeks. The NL comes with 2 20lb tanks and I also carry a 3rd on the generator space so I usually run out of food before propane. The tanks of course last more or less depending on altitude, temps, if you use your heater, how much cooking you do etc. Before a trip I usually turn the fridge on a week ahead of tome to let it get working well. If I need additional drinking water I will filter it into my drinking water containers. Makes things simple. The 10-2 can get heavy but with my F350 it can handle the load. The most important thing is the sidewall rating on your tires. Go with the thickest availabke for your rims. Lastly, I run stableloads on my rear leaf springs..this keeps the rear from sagging and rolling side to side, highly recommend them for any TC hauling. The reason I run SRW is because dulleys don't do as well in snow and mud and I find myself in both trying to reach the out laying areas least traveled. Anymore questions just ask.

I've had a camper like this but much larger. When you're a large person and middle-aged to older, you need all the Grim you can get. It's very hard to get up in that overhead bunk when you're older, and it also gets very hot and very cold and it's all so noisy in that overhead bunk when it rains. RV buyers should pay attention to the dinette bed, cuz that's where a lot of people sleeping compared to the overhead bunk, and there's a good amount of people who sleep on the floor of the camper. Camper is nice because it's very mobile you can get around a lot of small areas, and if the truck breaks down, you can always buy a used truck somewhere and put the camper back on and take off it doesn't ruin your whole vacation. I had a motorhome get crunched in the front fender, and it took good three to four months to get it repaired and I said I would have been better off just selling it for parts, is it ruined the whole summer plus I had to pay all the airfare back and forth Trying to get the motorhome fixed. With a truck if it gets wrecked you can ditch it and get something else used or new. I just wish they made the back door wider, And a center Island a little wider for a wheelchair so more seniors could use it. I have seen people put a large lounge chair in there and they just sleep in the lounge chair So they don't have to make up the dinette are go the overhead bunk area.. all of these campers should be designed so the roof is perfect shape for solar panels. Also the rear patio awning should have side panels, so it becomes a nice separate room And is usable for buggy areas. also remember that the sewer connection is kind of low to the ground in these truck campers, a lot of people hold their backs And are in pain for days after using a sewer connection so low to the ground. A generator and a solar panel is a must for these units.

I have my 8-11 on 2020 F 350 single rear wheel with new 7.3 L gas engine. Payload of 4072 lbs. Gas engines are lighter than diesels hence more available payload in most trucks.
Finally, someone mentioned the truck stats. Thank you! Never mentioned this in video. Did you have to do an axle swap like he did? How is the top heavy weight feel when driving? I want to avoid getting a dually for some overlanding. What are your thoughts on how the F350 handles the weight while bouncing side to side? Too often people purchase the smallest truck needed for the payload but then when you add water + gear they're maxed out. Then you get terrible driving dynamics. I would like to do the opposite. What is your experience with your truck + camper full weight? Did you still beef up the suspension? Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Please, please respond if you can. I'm begging you for a reply!😁 Very hard to find these answers from someone with real world experience using this setup. Also, forgot to ask above: I would like to be off grid for extended period. The water, propane, fridge size, solar capacity seems to make this doable. What kind of fuel mileage are you getting? How far can you go on one tank of gas at full payload with the 7.3l?
Funny my wife and I started out tenting, then got a travel trailer, then got a big 2017 F350 PSD DRW (cargo capacity 5,750 lbs) and a giant 5th wheel, then down sized to a old Lance 1030, We will be getting a Northern Light as the old Lance getting close to end of life (or a nice project for someone) Love the go anywhere feel of the truck camper! Installed the nice Torklift Talon tie down system with Talon Fast guns. Northern Light is the best of the best if you don't want a slide which we don't.
What does PSD stand for? DRW = dually right? Hence the 5700lb payload! I'd like to "overdo" the rig I need for carrying this camper. If I stick with Single Rear Wheel on F350 will I have to do more than just upgrade the suspension a little?
Such amazing info. Thank you!!! He knows his stuff! I wish you would have left links for how/where to buy some of those things from the "9000 pd axle" to the thick bed mat, etc.
Great video, super informative! One thing i will say, I live in Kelowna BC, where these campers are manufactured and the town is pronounced KEL (like how you pronounce the first 3 letters of the name Kelly) - OH - NUH.

This is making me reconsider. I have never liked the looks of a truck camper. But I want to be able to 4x4 in difficult places. This may be what allows me to do that. Hmmmm. Considering. Wondering what the best well build truck camper companies are? Amazing what they can fit in such a small space. I would love to see one that has been remodeled:) Especially if it has been made more 4 season. Clear elbow for black/grey tanks sounds great. I am normally a bucket user myself. I want to be able to boondock, so am not really interested in hookups, TV, etc, but this was very informative. Wondering if I could make it all electric with 2nd alternator and lithium batteries.
Hi Patrick and all northeast readers! Long shot but hoping to get some local recommendations. I'm a travel nurse on my 3rd covid assignment in NYC and - years in the making - just got my first fully converted van 🤸🏾♀️ Just got back from picking her up in Florida and I'm looking for a handy-person / build company that could help me do some isolated projects on her (cabinets in kitchen, vertical closet, etc). One of your subs recommended I reach out to you to see if you knew of anyone, or had suggestions of where else to look. Could be NY, NJ. I'm here for another 10 wks at least. Let me know! This is obviously my sanctuary during stressful times and the way I keep away from others, so thank you in advance, I appreciate any recommendations anyone has.
Good luck! Another travel RN here in a camper van but looking to change to a truck and camper next year. How have your assignments been since covid came to town?
That is great my friend you thought of it right most people who do van live in live at their Bank part-time full-time or weekend 10 to put microwaves in advance I don't know what they thinking a microwave with burn your battery out within seconds.. call microwave is a bad idea..
I would like to know how a truck driver can back up for the pick up of the camper again without knocking it over. Seems like you have to just get lucky. If you don't have anyone to give you directions to back right or left, then it really is a guessing game where you just might knock down your camper.
Is there an anti-theft security option once you disconnect the camper from the truck? Also, is there a bike rack option? On this model or the longer truck bed model is there a clothes washer option?
Love it!!!! I am wondering does the camper hover over the front truck window and block the view while driving or make one feel closed in and claustrophobic?
it was a little expensive but I already had the truck so I did not have that added expense and the final price including upgrades was still much less than MSRP
It’s as big as aClass B but with the superior off-road capability of a 4x4 truck. At a considerably lower price as the higher end Class Bs approach $200k.
This is one of the best truck camper videos I have watched. It's a normal guy talking about things that normal people want/need to know.

Thank you very much
Good job on the tour. My wife and I truck camp too.
Such amazing info. Thank you!!! He knows his stuff! I wish you would have left links for how/where to buy some of those things from the "9000 pd axle" to the thick bed mat, etc.
No slides…that is the way to go! Contained like a boat
Thank you very much
This was a good tour, ok?! Really liked this one!
Thank you Amber
Thank you..that was an amazing tour of your camper! I Love It! I want one!💕
You are so welcome!
Wow! I really love this! Awesome job 😊😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Best review I have ever seen.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice camper and presentation! Thank you.
We have the 10’2 and we love it
Thank you for checking this out
Northern lite, best truck campers made, can last 30 years or better!👍
You got that right!
Okay
Nice job
He gave great details
Thank you
This is neat. Going to check if they make a toy hauler version that may accommodate a motorcycle and or a couple of bicycles.
Thank you for checking this one out
I can't say I've ever seen a toy hauler truck camper. I'd maybe tow small enclosed to bring my fun
Looks really good!
Wow!!!! Excellent!!!!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Great tour, there's so much in there, It's like Dr who's tardis
Thank you for checking it out
Great video, super informative! One thing i will say, I live in Kelowna BC, where these campers are manufactured and the town is pronounced KEL (like how you pronounce the first 3 letters of the name Kelly) - OH - NUH.
Thank you for the information
What's amazing about this camper is it does not require a duelly.
Best yet!
Love the new intro!
Very nice unit...
Thank you 🙏🏼
Really appreciate you making this video. We are looking. Just not sure yet.
It looks so big. I would love it.
Thank you very much for checking this build out. For more weekend camper van & rv tours please subscribe.

Very nice tour.
Glad you enjoyed it
♥️☝️💯 YES I LOVE THESE. The Mammoth Host is gorgeous .
Thank you for checking this out
This is making me reconsider.
Beautiful, God bless you!!
Thank you
Well done!👌🇦🇺
Thank you very much
Great tour, Patrick. What camera are you using for filming? Maybe you could make a video about the gear you use. ?
Is it 4 season? Its the best one I've seen so far. Nvm, 4 season yay! I am sold!
Love the Bronco. And of course your awesome channel!!
Really nice truck!!♥️
I LOVE IT!!! 😎✌🏻🤙🏻🤘🏻😎
Patrick, we not gonna talk about that Bronco? That yours???
Nice set up
Very informative walk thru.
Glad it was helpful!
That is great my friend you thought of it right most people who do van live in live at their Bank part-time full-time or weekend 10 to put microwaves in advance I don't know what they thinking a microwave with burn your battery out within seconds.. call microwave is a bad idea..
Microwave only works on shore power or generator. Same for AC.
Is there wood in the ceiling and walls? How much for this camper?
Great video; thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Nice truck, nice tour and nice guy! I like this camper. Is he driving a250?
This is a F250
2005 F350
I would like to know how a truck driver can back up for the pick up of the camper again without knocking it over. Seems like you have to just get lucky. If you don't have anyone to give you directions to back right or left, then it really is a guessing game where you just might knock down your camper.
It’s really not that bad. With practice and a good spotter, you will get it in no time
Always enjoyed Patrick’s review of airstreams at Colonial. Love the new series. Based on all that Patrick has seen I’d be curious what he’d suggest.
Good presentation, for an amatuer.
Thank you kindly!
Why don't they make the window a pass through any more? Can I have one installed? Or does that make it easier for breakins?
I def would want one
Very nice. What Lithium batteries did you opt for? That’s something I’m looking into currently and thinking Battleborn.
Really impressive 👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
No slides! Huge advantage
I have no interest in this type of camper....but your knowledge and expertise are inpressive....thank you for your views.....happy adventures...
Is there an anti-theft security option once you disconnect the camper from the truck? Also, is there a bike rack option? On this model or the longer truck bed model is there a clothes washer option?
All good questions. I believe the jacks are disabled when not in use so no one can lift it and drive off.
Thank you
You are welcome
Love it!
Thank you very much
Love it!!!! I am wondering does the camper hover over the front truck window and block the view while driving or make one feel closed in and claustrophobic?
It does not it comes out to the edge of the sun visor of the truck
lol that question...so if it blocks the view it doesn't make you feel claustrophobic?
Super sanitary keeping the silverware under a step. Lol
It’s sealed
Very convenient. How much the truck camper?
Dude; thanks for the video, but you gotta make the bed and straighten up before shooting!
Very fancy but also very expensive.
it was a little expensive but I already had the truck so I did not have that added expense and the final price including upgrades was still much less than MSRP
Christopher Le Ny great camper! Lucky you!
It’s as big as aClass B but with the superior off-road capability of a 4x4 truck. At a considerably lower price as the higher end Class Bs approach $200k.
Would like to see him backup and hookup
Me too
