      ** you can definitely have your phone out and use it in the casino. Just not at the table. I often stand up and step back just a few feet to use my phone. I text or make calls. Once im finished, i go back to my seat at the table. Dont be scared, just be smart while you are in there. If you do not know a rule, just ask.

    Another what not to do: Do not, I repeat; do not walk from past the Wynn to The Fremont Experience. My friend and I thought that it would be a good way to get some steps in and enjoy some of the sights that would culminate at Fremont street. BIG MISTAKE! There were tons of homeless, mentally insane yelling things at us and shady characters trying to walk uncomfortably close to us. We walked this area in the middle of the day (I couldn’t even imagine at night) and we are incredibly lucky that we did not get attacked or mugged. I had no idea that there was any part of the Strip that was unsafe but that area is extremely sketch. We did this walk this year in January, I’m not sure if it has improved or used to be safe but anymore it is absolutely not!

    • @firechikn91
      @firechikn91 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As a 26 year resident of Las Vegas I could tell you - you have no idea how lucky you probably were actually. That area has been bad since at least the 70s. Back in 96 they thought the new Stratosphere Hotel would help clean up the area but it did not. They have tried upgrading and updating some of the complexes around there. Those have been affordable housing since the 1930s when most of the Hotel employees lived there due to being a close to drive to work. Part of that walk (around Strat) is known as "Naked City" because thats where all the showgirls lived and would sunbathe publicly by the pools. After a few years they could afford some of the housing popping up around the city off the strip and then a new crowd moved in. Its gotten worse and worse ever since! DO NOT WALK NORTH OF THE WYNN

      I’ve walked from the strip to downtown multiple times and from the golden nugget to the mgm grand just last week. It’s a nice 6 mile walk and the arts district is actually pretty new and not bad at all. Much better than it was even a couple years ago in my opinion. Idk I don’t fear that kind of stuff

    I live in Las Vegas and most everyone else that lives here thinks is really annoying when tourists and vacationers clog up the street. I know it’s annoying but don’t just cross the street whenever you feel like it because you’re drunk and you don’t feel like waiting at the crosswalk. Sometimes we get a greenlight but the tourists won’t stop walking back-and-forth and they don’t abide by the street signs or crosswalks at all and we have to sit through multiple lights sometimes..... it’s rude don’t be a douche bag. It’s tempting for some of us to just run you guys over..... you have to understand that for those of us that live here some of us have to cross the strip to get to and from work, or carry out their daily lives in the city that they live in. Also I can’t tell you how many times Visitors from out of town come to Las Vegas drink too much and drive and they end up hitting somebody that’s just trying to get home from work or going to work...Or a family that is just trying to get from point a to point B etc.... if you’re looking for budget it might be a little bit off the strip but station casinos are a good place to start and their buffets are not bad. You can also register for a station casino card and that will give you additional discounts. If you’re looking for something fun and more family friendly, try out Fremont Street. We take our kids there all the time and we have a blast every time. You can get some pretty eclectic and special Souvenirs that won’t cost you very much from street performers and artist etc. Also, lookout for pickpockets it is becoming a real issue even for those of us that live here and know better.

      As a fellow Las Vegas resident, while reading your comment about the people crossing the street back and fourth Im picturing in my head the light by MGM when you want to turn right. Its next to impossible to turn there and they look at you crazy if you try to move forward! But yeah, I work on the Strip so I can relate with a lot of what you said.

    You're wrong about the bus. The deuce is for jumping one or two resorts up and down the strip. Like say from ceasar's to NYNY. The express only has a couple of stops and takes like twenty minutes to get from MGM grand to freemont. The deuce stops at every stop, the express only has like 4 stops. And they both run on the same pass which costs like $20 for 3 days. I can't imagine spending $10-20 every time I wanted to go somewhere. Who can afford that?

    • @lafemme8
      @lafemme8 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was just there last week and for some reason, I believe due to COVID, they have eliminated the SDX route and altered the DUECE route a little for when you are in downtown. So unfortunately there is no express way of going downtown from the strip at the moment. Hopefully they change it back later as I have taken the SDX in the past.

    One tip I’ll share. I purchased a money bank to bring to Vegas, it’s a wallet sized metal case that you can slip dollars into but cannot open without the key. So I leave the key at home, when I win money, I’ll put it in the bank so that I’m not tempted to spend all my winnings! Then when I get home I’m sometimes shocked at how much is actually in there, it’s an almost guaranteed way to leave with some money 😉

    • @austindarrenor
      @austindarrenor 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@elcajondavid1 I wouldn't necessarily say it's greed. More accurately the number of people who come through Las Vegas is astronomical compared to earlier decades. No other city in the world gets as many events and conventions and these people gamble very little if at all. Also Las Vegas has become so diversified even tourists come here with no intention of gambling. It's the gambling that paid for that $2 buffet.

    A lot of good advice, but I have to disagree on using Airbnb. Currently because of the lack of people, some hotels have low fees. For example, Harrahs has $10 rooms plus resort fee. And as long as those kind of rates are available, it will be quite cost effective to reserve a hotel. However, the last time I was in Vegas I stayed at an Airbnb for four days for $130. I would suggest that if you do rent Airbnb, try to get a rental near Flamingo Blvd. I took the 202 bus to the strip with a $5 dollar all day pass. From where I stayed, It took me about 10 minutes to arrive on the strip. The $5 pass does cover the Deuce, but like they said, if it's the weekend, you're talking slower than molasses, lol. However, the rest of bus system is quite efficient and fast. I used the 202 to ride all over Vegas (off the strip) with the necessary connections.

      I've lived in LV for nearly 21 yrs,..Well when u first arrive,u will find everything so large&the Hotel/Casinos are like Maize's (they really don't want u to leave,unless u have no $$$$ left)
      ..But the first thing u should do is get a "Players Club card"each Casino has it's own,all they want is ur ID and should receive a complimentary 5or 10$ to play with+ future offers of promotions via email..But each time u play a machine,u stick the card in&accrue points..
      Also try&locate the nearest Walgreens along the strip for Drinks/Snacks for ur Hotel room(much cheaper)..And I would discourage anyone frm using the Casinos ATM(of course I've done it when boozed&incoherent)U will get charged a ridiculous fee 4 to 6$$, or something&then ur Bank hits u up as well and meanwhile ur spending that dough at the very same Casino!
      ..So bring enough cash(or ur CC)..Anyway that's a few "long winded"pointers for u to ponder!
      ..Enjoy ur stay&stay healthy..Oh and I nearly forgot,it's easy to be distracted while at these Casinos(Sensory overload is the order of the day here)and the Bums &Hustlers are always scoping out Potential victims..So stay vigilant👍

    A lot of great info and advice on here guys. Thanks! I did have one question. I don't care for buffets so much but rather prefer the coffee shop experience where you just go in sit down and get waited on. Haven't been to Vegas in 10 years but I assume they are still in existence?

    Treasure Island offers the best odds on Blackjack on the strip they're one of the very few that pay 3 to 2 at any denomination table and they also allow surrender. Which most places don't.

    If your going for more than 3 days i would consider this.Car rental cost $15 a day. If your a real drinker youll need good booze without being ripped off. (Off strip) Also groceries (off strip) makes trip much more enjoyable and hang overs more bearable. Quality resturants some phenomenal and affordable are off strip. Best odds off strip. Free parking at many hotels. Sight seeing. No uber fees for every little trip (airport alone). Cup of starbucks at strip hotel 10 dollars. Cup of starbucks a mile off strip 4 dollars. If you need legal weed youll need a car as well. No shops near strip.

    You ain't kidding about the Wynn Casino having the worst machines on the strip! When we were in Vegas last month my Uncle stayed at the Wynn, he has a lot of money, but he said not once did he win anything while staying there for the weekend! He had better odds at the El Cortez and the other Casinos in the Fremont
    area. But he did say that their Buffet is awesome!

    I was just in Vegas at the same time you guys were. Never made the Strip this time. We were out by Red Rock Casino. It was very interesting to see all the different Covid precautions casinos were using. Some almost seemed like they were more for show than effective. One place(won't name the place) was showing some of the customer temps as low as 90 degreees and when I asked the guy he said the wind was effecting the readings. I thought that can't be good when trying to determine if someone has a temperature.

    I have to disagree about the airport when we were in vegas we did pretty good at the casino's but the real treat was when we were flying out we had about an hour to burn and decided to go smoke and play so slots and my wife hit 5,900 on a red white and blue machine right before we left. the whole 7 day trip after all our winnings cost us a whopping 33.00 dollars and that was the bill for long term parking at our home airport, so had a great time there.....

    Adding to the car situation. If you decide to go to the grand canyon or something off strip most casinos have a rent-a-car company in them. You can also take an ride share to the rent-a-car place at the airport. As well. So much cheaper by far than renting a pointless car.

    Do one buffet, one time. Just for the experience. You will over eat. Over eating in Vegas is stupid. Feel like shit, gotta walk a long way. Unless you’re there for a long time (which also sucks) then it’s a waste of your weekend or few days there too be full as heck walking around in that heat stuffed to the neck with buffet food.

    The one thing that few travelers do, during their trip to Las Vegas, that I highly recommend.... get OUT of Vegas for a day! Rent a car and get out of the city for one day, to explore anything and everything outside the city! Take a break in the middle of your trip and just go for a drive. There's lots to see and do outside of Vegas too!

    Don't forget, all the casinos charge you for parking, even though you are staying at the the hotel ! Last I was told the parking is around $35-$45 for parking, valet is even more expensive ! Also I believe that the buffets are closed, due to covid19. There may be a cafeteria style of buffet restaurant open, not sure though 🤔

I really enjoy spending time on Freemont. I do have a question, do you ever go to Key west? I went there 5 years ago but only got to spend 2 days, planning on going back soon. Just wanted to know your opinion on key west if you have been there and yes I'm a big Jimmy Buffett fan a true pariothead LoL 😆 thanks and be safe on your adventures.

    AS A VEGAS LOCAL... i can tell you that the bus routes on the Strip are NOT slow or crowded... nor do you have to wait a long time for the bus... our busses run 24 hours a day ~
    There are 2 bus routes on the strip.... one or the other arrives every 6 minutes !
    The DEUCE(double decker) that makes 34 stops in 7 miles
    The SDX (Strip Downtown Xpress) that makes 17 stops in 7 miles ... only at every 3rd hotel
    PLEASE DONT BELIEVE HER INFORMATION ON THIS SUBJECT
    it does not take 90 minutes to go the length of the strip, from the airport to fremont street downtown
    You can also purchase a 24 hour pass for the bus for $8.00 and is good for all 44 routes in the Las Vegas Valley
