Zybex, Draconus and Henry`s House, possibly the most technically impressive atari games.
Agreed.
what about Mountain Bike racer and Ninja commando?
What bout black lamp?
What about Chester's Adventure?
The best game on Atari 800 XE. Amazing graphics, music, and game play. Got it as soon as it came out and at 5 years old it took me ages to complete it😂 looks so simple watching it now. Thanks for uploading it. Good memories
Couldn't agree more, this was a classic.
just longer periods when this amazing music appears
One of the best games on Atari with a reasonable difficulty level. Finished it several times back then.
I watched it for the "game over music" at the end. Game over tunes are the best. Adam Gilmore, Rob Hubbard, Chris Huelsbeck, music of my childhood, the best ever, still as cool when I listen to it 30 years later. As time didn't exist.
Draconus is the best game on C64 and Atari XL/XE
5:53 is the point where I accidentally found a cheat, well more of a bug really. If you stood on the slab, it didn’t metamorphosis until you were nearly dead, you then had infinite energy.
I remember when I was a kid, playing this game at night. So creepy.
Yeah, that atmosphere in dark caves
i think Draconus, Nnja Commando and Zybex shared the same base frameworks for developing ..
Same ppl behind the prpject, same atari st used in the creation process.
and Mountain Bike Racer

My left ear really enjoyed that.
Nice setup of colours.
I don't know really, I just recorded it without commentary, and then decided it would be cool to post it that way...
Why any of the projectiles from boss or preboss encounter didnt do any dmg?
You need to be closer for them to do damage.
Cool game! It has a very eerie atmosphere.
Is this played with the one button atari joystick? How do get your character to perform so many different moves?
Yeah, it's played with the one button joystick. Basically you have the standard movement directions, but if you're pressing the button, you punch, or breathe fire, or use a spell.
Yes, just only with one button.
Shapeshifting reptiles? I was unaware of all that when I had Draconus on my C64. Was it influenced by V or...
This was my very favorite game in Atari. Metroid was just a perfected copy of this great game
blimey, indeed!
Yes, certainly.
Draconus is a great game, but Metroid was launched in 1986, two years before than Draconus.
@@sebastianriffo5388 Yeah thats true, maybe many of us get confused becase most of us moved from atari 800 to the NES,which was a completly new experience about playing videogames at home and that make us think that all Atari games where older than all NES games. When really there are many Atari games that where released after the first NES game.
By the way there are many guys who think the first Metroid was Super Metroid and dont have any idea about the two previus ones on NES and Gameboy. And Supermetroid with Castlevania Symphony of the Nigh create what we call "metroidvania" games. When really there are 2 Metroids games before and Castlevania 2 Simon Quest which are older with that concept. But they wherent that great and didnt have enough fanbase as those 2 newer games. Instead were very frustrating games to play
I never managed to finish this game, but having seen this video (albeit with a certain delay LOL) I think I'll give it a try again (using an emulator, already). Thumbs up :-)
I wish there is a remake of this game on the atari 130xe or the Atari ST.
Um... This is already running on an XE system 🤷♂️
@Elmo Redneal that's not what I have meant, and let me clarify. This game is on the Atari 8 bit or the 64kb version. I am trying to say that I would like to see Draconus on the Atari 130xe to take full advantage of the 128kb. Maybe that will give Draconus a graphical and sound advantage.
The game did not take full advantage of the Atari 130xe 128kb memory.
question is - can be even better than this version?
@@ubiased23 but same CPU, graphics and sound
@zbyseklipka406 There is extra memory, that means you can add more contents to the game.
I remeber you could use 16 colours of your choice from 256, or use one colour in 16 shades... Poor that my assembler editor does not work anymore... I would like to show somes games I wrote back in the 80s here on youtube - but don´t know how to film them properly. That colourfullnes makes the charme in games like this - seems quite similar to the game antiriad!
This is how "Shadow of the beast" would have looked like on Atari 8 bit
🎯
Spirits Abyss feels inspired by this game.
Best
dayum I never played this - I remember my first ,,pegasus'' lol
This one was one of the best Atari games. Pushed it to the limit.
@@JCsChannel dope stuff. I remember i played contra as a kid ; D good times!
ATARI 800
Will you make gameplay from Atari game "Kernaw"?
Let me look in to it, I'm not familiar with that game.
@@JCsChannel So what with "Kernaw"?
Bt the music and action is better A8 than c64.
LOL it really isn't unless you like flickering sprites and blocky graphics. Have you actually seen the C64 version?
@@3622Dave I know the flickering enemies. I told to ypu about the game that is a little bit faster and the music that is better too for pokeys 4 channel although the 3 sid channel techology haha.
Too much shortcuts
Was a good game, but I didnt liked Draconus 2, looked like a beta version of the first game
Well, Draconus 2 was just a hack of the original game.
same with montezuma
Jesus how many time do you have to hit that stupid hopping bird thing with your miserable little 'pew pew' weapon to kill it?!
Pew Pew Pew.
I guess it's Serekos dragon who gave thumb down. Gayyyy! ;)
:O
Cheater! I finish in the dragon room before 30 years without trainer :)
C64 version way better in regards of the animation.
I saw the C64 version at a friend's house, but since I was so used to this one, it felt weird.
Are you crazy???? maybe the color definition bit the action and music A8 is better far away from c64.
Yeah, the colors in the atari version are really way too boring. Using the same shades for all the playfield and enemies just never was acceptable to me, even in Amiga games like Lionheart this 'effect' just looks bad. Objects need some contrast, otherweise they just blend in with the background.
I wish that Atari made this game on the atari 130 xe in order to take a full advantage of the 128k. A remake of this game would be nice.
