IMO Lifetime 28. Great cooler. Filled it up on Friday, (12 natural lights, 12 naturdays.) Today is cold water and no beers. $75 from Walmart.
I agree completely! Coolers are getting out of hand. It really does depend on what you are using it for. I have a blue 16 dollar cooler and it makes it ok for a day at the beach. I also have a Coleman cooler that didn't make it a while day. We need to figure a way to make ice melt at higher temps! Lol. Always fun Jack keep it up brother!

I went with a 55 quart Lifetime cooler from Walmart and I use it for camping and it holds ice the whole weekend and still have lots of ice less and it only cost $97 you should buy one and compare it to your Yeti
3:40 was definitely pertent to which cooler I should buy, so glad you put that in there ; )
If you bring the cooler in the house the night before using, the ice will last much longer than leaving the cooler in a hot a.. shed or the back of the truck. So, putting the ice in a cool cooler will last longer than putting ice in a hot cooler. Come to think of it..... this would be a good video test for coolers?
Gotta fix for your Ole Red!!! Drill a small hole through the handle hinges and through the cooler where the hinges line up and put carriage bolts through with the heads on the inside. Use flat washers and lock nuts on outside. Snug them down just enough to keep alittle resistance on the handle and then cut the excess threads off bolts. Hopefully you'll get another 6 years of use out of it

This is how I would want my TH-cam channel to be if I had one. Nonsense filled with good information.
Toward the end it reminded me of those Scotty car reviews, that can often be boiled down to, "Don't buy this NIssan, because I haven't seen one yet where this one gasket doesn't fail after the first 250,000 miles!"
I know some people have coolers around for decades, but in this era, who is buying a pricy cooler with the expectation that they're going to get 30 years out of it? This isn't the 70s. No one's giving that metal-sided green Coleman as a wedding gift with the belief that it's a legacy piece that can be passed along to future generations. And if you're the type who already has multiple mid- or higher-end coolers, you're kind of a gear junkie and will be repurposing it as soon as the next new shiny one comes along with a threaded drain or deeper cup holders.
I'm no different. I started SUV camping last year and bought an appropriately sized red Igloo 28 Laguna cooler for about $19. I entertained spending up and getting the better Lifetime 28 ($94) but neither had a drain, so I figured I'd go cheap. It's fine for my purposes. But now Igloo has the Overland 25 ($59) with some seriously thick walls and a drain. It's kind of Igloo's more serious answer to the similarly sized Yetis and the OT offering from Walmart (which still runs almost $100 for a 26-qt. ... with no drain). I don't need it, but ...

I saw the Braves hat and the beach so I was wondering where you were, but then I saw the Pensacola beach patrol. I'm in the Savannah Ga area so if you ever make it up this way, hollar at me! We fish, camp, sandbar party, etc. as often as possible. 🤙🎣

They have new "old reds" on sale at Walmart for $15, they're 28qt coolers, and weigh about 25% of what the Yeti 20qt does. Stick a frozen 2 liter bottle in with the ice and beer and it will last 2 days. (unless someone leaves it open).
I think that one's the Laguna. But now they have the Igloo Overland 25. It's beefier with some seriously thick walls, but kind of splits the baby, pricewise, going for about $55, as opposed to OT's "budget" option of about $100 for a 26-qt. And, the Overland 25 has a drain, which is hard to come by at that size. It IS noticeably larger by a few inches in all dimensions than the Laguna, though, so know where you'll be shoving it. :)
My hopper2 is great... but the zipper is too tough for my wife and kids to properly close.. the shape also makes it harder to pack food

After a hot day at a FL theme park we have ice cold waters sitting in the back of the van. That's 10 hours in a 130* van. They are in a 20 year old $15 - 16 quart coleman.
I recently went for a soft RTIC 20. Fits on YAK well. Keeps ice awesome in 105F all day. (I consider this a YETI knock-off)

Loved your presentation style! Yes, every size and quality level has its application. Like every other good old boy, I have big 'un for a week-long camping trip and a lil' 'un to take my lunch in. Plus ➕ a couple of varying sizes in between.
One question though. I got here from Bachman-Turner Overdrive.... how?
Been using an Ozark trail from Wally's and it does well. Bought it to mount on front deck for sight fishing. No problems yet but It's not one to carry around all day. I use your exact red igloo for those purposes. Good vid, keep em coming.

Especially if it's just a day run, and by cheap I mean those little 2-4 buck use once foam coolers that you can toss the next morning if it survived the night.
If it's an overnighter get a Coleman because ice is cheap and readily available.
Yeti ... well, it's great if you're in the field and there's no ice machines within 30 miles, you're just gonna end up with a bunch of ice and no beer anyway.

YAK! Cooler videos are what brought me to your channel. BTW, last night I saw brand new Igloo "Ol Red" coolers on sale at Wal Mart up my way (Yorktown VA) for less than 15 bucks. There's only one problem... they're not red, they're blue. But the got em. I tried your method of filling the lid of my red one with foam and it works!!!

I have a yeti and a orca both 20 qt, one day one will hold ice better than the other . They are side by side in the back of my jeep. Makes no sense 🤷♂️

I bought an engel dry box. Holds ice well. Or it's a drybox and its wayyy lighter than other coolers
100% agree other than don't buy a Ozark Trail. Piece of crap. My wife is also a leave the cooler open or stare into it for ever person. At least she shuts the sliding glass door all the way.
Maybe something about sunglasses? Different kinds for fishing?

Okay, this is completely off subject but you showed it in the video so I'm going with it...Why are you not loading your kayaks on your truck rack? I load 3 on mine and have the entire bed for everything else. Just curious. Thanks for sharing your views on the coolers with us!

If you are going elk hunting, you will need a huge 300 qt. And the Yeti is the best. But you need some bucks. No pun intended. Male elk are bulls. Might need 2, 300 qt. units And a ton of ice. Unless you are super rich and can afford the electric ones.

I’ll be in Tampa next year for good. I think I’ll invest in a good cooler with wheels. They get heavy with ice. No beer for me, bottle of rum and mixers.

I’ve slowly come to realize that buying the biggest baddest cooler, for a day at the beach, is pretty much overkill and a waste of money. If I was an avid outdoorsman and was out for a few days at a time, then the expense is likely justified.
I went with the lifetime 25 I believe it is a little on the heavy side but so far it's very durable. And holds ice about 4 days with consistent opening and closing.
I got a couple Rtic coolers. If you wait until around the super bowl and new years they put them on sell.

ehh.. if you just need something cold for a day, just buy a igloo or coleman extreme.. cheap, not bulky and heavy.. and you don't have to worry about someone stealing it.. Besides, anything more and you're just showing off. ...sad world when a cooler is a status symbol.
