Correct me if I'm wrong, but 999,999,999 is the max you can hold in your bank, but you could hold even more in your wallet, then the overflow goes to your pockets. You can carry a max of 99,999 bells in your wallet. Assuming you have the maximum inventory upgrade (40 slots) you can hold 40 separate stacks of 99 bell bags (99,000 bells in each stack). (Gonna be honest, someone else did the math on this one) meaning that you can carry 4,059,999 bells just in your wallet and inventory alone. Making the total of bells in your inventory/bank 1,004,059,998. However... There is the potential to increase this further, as there is the house storage, and if you were to upgrade that fully, you add 5,000 extra storage slots. This is where I'm going to have to do my own math, so bear with me. If every storage slot is filled with the maximum number of bells, that gives us a total of 495,000,000 bells in your home inventory. Making the grand total of possible bells held in your full accessible inventory 1,499,059,998, or alternatively, the equivalent of 374,764,999.5 discounted sticks. Theoretically, you could attempt to place bell bags in every single occupiable space in your home and/or island, but I don't even want to begin thinking about that. You would need to ensure that your home and the two required villager's homes are the only buildings there, then have no furniture or other constructs taking up space, preferably you destroy all river and water tiles to maximize space (which you may need more homes/buildings to even do, but it would be worth it because of how much space water takes up on a fresh island). I'm sure you could calculate all of that, but there's a lot of variables to account for. Just know that you could potentially have a lot more bells. Tbh bell trees with 30,000 each, and gold roses, are the best option imo. Gold roses are soooo under-utilized. Ive never done turnips because i end up losing money and having issues, but gold roses are so easy to grow and you can pick them and sell for 1000. If you just plant black roses in a checkerboard patternd and water, youll end up with tons of gold roses. I have a patch in the corner of my island with like 50 gold roses, and every few days i get 50,000 easy bells. And it isnt even as much of a pain as picking fruot, where you have to shake the tree and then run around to collect it. You just have to pick the flowers

Just so you know, you don't have to wait until night to use the box out front of the store! You can use it at any time. I use it often when clearing flowers off my island after not playing for ages. 😅 Not worth it to go in and out with every inventory full, since the flower stalks don't stack, and I need them gone so I can terraform.
