Got a couple suggestions for you My first time doing this one but it might help some people before I tore the timing apart I marked the cams with a marker that way when the one on the left jumped. I left the old sprocket on there and I used a plier style oil filter wrench to turn it back on the gears to where it's supposed to be so I didn't have to go through all of that I have pictures but I'm not sure how to upload to show. it helped me out quite a bit I hope it helps somebody else and yes someone before you put the wrong bolt in on the left they are both matching bolts you can see the out line from the washer on the sprocket. Thanks again this video helped
They make a tool for doing the chains. Its simple as falling off a log and inexsensive. I got one and it has two sets of prongs fastened to a locking plate that holds the chain in place. Just put the prongs through the sprocket holes after you line up you chain and turn the handle. Eezy Peezy. No messing around with zip ties. Part # 522902. Azone, Oriellys, Rock Auto I dont remember where I got it.
@@panzerichi3837 I’m pretty sure it’s down once cam is in but I can’t find any reference in the Haynes manual. I think I found it online or in a YT video. Sorry I don’t remember for certain, although I believe it’s down.
Excellent video... I have two questions. Do I have to remove the admission body as well as the coils, injectors, and spark plugs to do this job? Or, in your case, were the cams also serviced, and that's why it is all disassembled? The other question is about the tensioner piston in the left side chain. I saw in another video that a mechanic removed the constraint plate that comes with it in order to increase the oil pressure to that piston and avoid issues with it down the road. Would you do that?
My v6 is literally at 1 o clock now after tightening my sprocket. Since all the chains were on it rotated everything just that little bit as well. How can i move it back
Hey, I think that it has came in my case with or situation that I have change my timing on this type engine 4.7 dodge ram 1500 4.7 v8 4-4 slt truck over 317.830 on the dash but my question how much would this cost from someone professionally doing this for me..is what I am looking for here??
So I screwed up and took off 2 tensioners then I used a trick to get the top sprocket loosed by putting a rachet on both and while holding the driver side still I turned the passenger side and it turned a lot what do I do anyone
@@BASgarage yes I did put back but I took the timing cover apart and check out timing two long one line up with the mark perfect but the primary chain is not line up with those dot. Is there any trick or do I have to keep turn the crankshaft until it line up?
@@Seagoldgola2 yes you will need to get it on top dead Center that should have those marks lined up and then make sure you’re two top. Timing marks are also lined up.
@@BASgarage yup that’s what I did still not running it just keep crank over and over. I wonder if those 6 pistons have to be in position before I put those head cylinders back on?

That bolt on the passenger side cam is the wrong bolt. It should have a washer like the driver side. That's why the 19mm was loose.
It will work its way loose without any type of washer. Should be a 15mm just like the other side. All bolts need blue loctite too.

I was definitely going to put the tensioners in last😂 thank you for saving me some time and a huge headache
Thanks! Doing this now and your video was a good walkthrough of the process. BTW that top little sprocket is the balance shaft.
Thank you
@@BASgarage your process worked well and it started right up and as expected first try. 80 miles on the Jeep so far and it’s rockin
Do u know if that timing mark goes up or down on balance sprocket when lining up with main sprocket,he has it down ?

@@BrianMasek thanks 👍
I think I should be able to set the timing without the rocker arms installed? Then I shouldn't have to use the vice grips, should work?
I purchased the same kit from Rockauto and it had the incorrect tone wheel, so always match the new with the old.
Just count the notches. It is simple. From 2005 and up are NGC.

Alas cuantas vueltas buelben a coincidir los puntos ??
What kit did you buy that has a separate timing chain sprocket without the whole assembled sprocket set? Around 7:30

I've had to use vise grips also but there is a tool you can buy to lock the cams in place to do this job
What tool is that?

Doesn't the balance shaft sprocket timing mark go up instead of down to line up with main sprocket?
It looked like it went down to match with the dark link on the primary. I think it’s somewhere in the video. Not sure what time though
Where do I buy the engine book to tell me what torque for the bolts for 05 jeep grand Cherokee 3.7 v6 I can’t find anything

Always turn the torque wrench back to the lowest setting........or it wont hold its spec near as long............your money not mine tho.....

The intake has to come off?
Yes
What was the tork specs of guides and tensioner

Hows the thing running now days?
Actually sold it but the guy that bought it is still driving it around
Great 👍 video bro!
I did mine and cranked over but engine not running I plug my code reader and it said loss cam or crankshaft signal any idea about it? Thanks
Did you get the cam position sensor put back correctly or plugged in it would be on the passenger side front valve cover

You should of warned us before about the chain guides now I have to remove the chain again 😢
Maybe you outta research such a project better. Watch 2-3 videos in WHOLE, then tackle the project.
Great vid
