Kerala, a state on India's tropical Malabar Coast, has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline. It's known for its palm-lined beaches and backwaters, a network of canals. Inland are the Western Ghats, mountains whose slopes support tea, coffee and spice plantations as well as wildlife. National parks like Eravikulam and Periyar, plus Wayanad and other sanctuaries, are home to elephants, langur monkeys, and tigers.
Sprawling, residential Ernakulam is known for Marine Drive, a busy waterfront promenade where boats offer backwater cruises. The Kerala Folklore and Hill Palace museums explore local heritage through art and antiquities. Shops along Broadway and on MG Road sell fabrics, crafts, and spices, while modern Lulu Mall also has a cinema and an ice rink. Simple eateries serve Keralan specialities and South Indian seafood.
Kerala cuisine is a culinary style originated in the Kerala, a state on the southwestern Malabar Coast of India. Kerala cuisine offers a multitude of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes prepared using fish, poultry and red meat with rice as a typical accompaniment. Chillies, curry leaves, coconut, mustard seeds, turmeric, tamarind, asafoetida and other spices are also used in the preparation.
Kerala is known as the "Land of Spices" because it traded spices with Europe as well as with many ancient civilizations with the oldest historical records of the Sumerians from 3000 BCE.

Most foreigners mistake - eating chappti roti appams without any curry, should be consumed with curry, no one eats dry roti or appam in India
We ate egg curry it was delicious
Too spicy🌶😢
@@KayandGogo many Indians don't eat the 🌶️ the way you ate, oh sooo spicy. We throw it, because already the chili has added the spice to the curry.
Take care you will end up with PILES
Thank you Gogo is Turkish so we eat very spicy that's how we like it 😋 haha 😄
Nice. Also try the following:
1 beef fry and parotta
2 meat or fish cutlets (like a British influence im guessing)
3 shrimp & meat pickle
4 appam and chicken curry/stew
5 idiyappam and egg curry or with Chicken Stew
6 Thattukada Chicken Fry
7 mussles or Oyster stir fry
8 Kerala prawn curry and pithari
9 Mutton Paya Masala
10 potichori
11 Baby Chicken Fry with Lime Juice (@Kethel’s Chicken )
12 duck curry and kal-appam
13 toddy shop foods
14 squid ring fry
15 Beef fry and parotta
16 Kerala Fish Curry & rice
17 kottu roti/parata (if done right, its like a pasta dish)
18 Kerala Erachi Varutharacha Curry (lamb curry)
19 El Sadhya @ mothers veg(with yellow curd/moru, rasam, mango pickle, chamandi powder, etc).
20 Thelassary birani or Malbari biryani at paragon
21 Bananna Fitters
22 Masala puri (fried bread and potato curry)
23 Semiya payasam
24 Halwa (thick gelatenous jelly with cashews, orange or black in color)
25 Chatti Pathri
26 Errissery (pumpkin or squash)
27 chicken perattu
28 erachi pidi
29 chakka Varatti
30 Kerala chicken curry
31 Chemmen pollichathu or meen pollichathu (fish cooked in a banana leaf)
32 fish fry (many types)
Idiyappam goes with the egg curry.
Normally pal-appam(the one you had in this video, the curved bottom, similar to sri lankan), is eaten with a Ishtu (milk based curry) or with chicken Isthu, but I eat it with any chicken curry.
Also I think they eat the puttu with kadala curry (chickpea), puttu or any starch by itself is normally plain and has no flavour (potato, pasta, rice, bread etc.) it is accompanied with other things, especially a curry or a sauce.
Also beef fry, beef curry, beef roast and other types of beef should be tried. There are pork dishes as well, which I'm not familiar with (kerala style pork curry, Nadan Pork Fry,Pork Ularthiyathu). And Lamb/mutton/goat fry, curry, and Ularthiyathu.
Hello Bobby
Thank you so much for your wonderful suggestions and information
We tried some on your list so we must be doing doing right haha 😄
@@KayandGogo oh and try chicken roast, kopus and chicken curry (Middle Eastern bread, similar to pita and it is cooked with the chicken curry only to heat it up so it becomes soft), the many shawarma places, Meen Moilee, Beef Vindaloo (both Kerala and goa has this dish, as the Portuguese went to Kerala as well), Tharavu Roast
Bobby got it all right !! Try as much as possible.
He's really fantastic he's helped us so much throughout our Journey around different states of India

Hii kay & gogo..very glad to see your videos and it's an overwhelming feeling too..When compare to other states of India,Kerala has their own uniqueness in all sense..
For example ,
Ernakulam = Trading center + food culture
Alleppey = Backwaters + house boats + paddy fields + incredible food stuff
Idukki = Hilly terrain + tea plantations + chocolates..
It's really wonderful
Our next vlog is the beautiful house boat we stayed on
@@KayandGogo we are waiting eagerly..❤
Thank you we hope you enjoy
Alappuzha is the best choice guys .the food and backwaters 🌴🌾 😊
We agree! Absolutely beautiful 😍
It is typical kerala breakfast not typical south Indian. South Indian is idli dosa and vada.
Yes we tried those in different vlogs too
Delicious 😋
Not like that our breakfast dishes are puttu , dosa , idali, idiyappam, thats all
Vadayoke kadayil mathrollu.
The way you eating is perfect indian style..
I appreciate you man. First time i have seen this .
Thank you so much 😀
Even though people in Kerala can handle a good amount if spice in our curries, biting into a whole chilli pepper from a curry is a no no for us. The chilli pepper"s job is done when it imparts flavour and heat to the curries.. However there are preparations where chopped chilli peppers are added which get ignored and get consumed with the rest of the curry. In India a chilli pepper is called a chilli (the type preceeds, like green, red, kashmiri etc) and pepper is just black pepper.. Keep doing such videos. Enjoy watching them.
Aww that’s a lovely comment. Thanks so much. Gogo loves his spicy food therefore if he finds peppers he just bites them lol
The puttu is eaten with a soupy fish curry which you may get at fish restaurants in kerala.
In Mauritius puttu is sold in market fairs mostly and cooking method is same i.e steaming in 2 inch cylinders.
What makes it different is it is sweetend with cane sugar . Eaten as a snack . Best of all served with afternoon tea .
Happy visit in kerala .
Thank you for the information
@@KayandGogoPuttu can be eaten with fish curry.
!! BUT the main side dish "Puttu" is served in Kerala is either Kadala Curry (chickpea curry) or Riped Banana 🍌 😊
Those breakfast options look very delicious
Thank you our friend
Try apparently with chicken stew made with coconut milk. Delicious. Also try beef cutlets. If you come to Hyderabad the Charminar area is famous for its bangles and biryani.
Appams
Hello 👋 Thank you
Yes we ate Biryani in Hyderabad we have a vlog about it in our playlist 😃😃
@@KayandGogo Each state has their own biryani. Kerala Biryani has one of the best, try it at Paragon.

Yes 😊 it was delicious 😋
None of them originated in Sri Lanka. When Tamils went to Sri Lanka, they took the recepie wiht them from India.
Thanks for the information 👍
Mouth watering tasty food😊
Thank you 😋
That kosukatta is similar to ukdiche modak in Maharashtra. We offer it to bhagwan ganapati 🙏
Thanks so much
He knows the right way to eat
Thanks so much. Where are you from?
@@KayandGogo from Kerala ,Thrissur district
Thank you 👋 😊
👍
❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
Please visit Himachal Pradesh, uttarakhand , Kashmir, leh and ladhak😊
Thank you for the recommendations we shall 😊
Names are correct AND you have to eat APPAM and IDIAPPAM along with the gravy (egg curry in your case). PUTTU is pyoor Kerala and KOZHUKATTAI is common in South India.
Thank you so much 💓
Appams should be very crispy on the outer edges and it’s served with fresh. Coconut cream and sugar! The appam they gave you is to rubbery not cooked properly 🙏
Thanks for the info 👍
I have eaten pittu/puttu with ripe mangoes and since then my prayer has been give me my daily pittu/puttu and mangoes. I love my bread, butter, jam and my fried eggs, bacon etc., I pray Gogo is not starving (me too Gogo, me too Gogo)...but pittu/puttu with mangoes is the way to go,Gogo. I wanted both of you stay in srilanka forever. From Colombo with love. Thanks and wherever QK and prince Gogo go, I follow. Right now I am sure you are not in india but wherever you are I long to be with you and share your food. On her majesty's humour service.
Hello our friend
Gogo is definitely eating his way around the world haha 😄 puttu with mangoes sounds delicious especially as in Sri Lanka you have the best mango 🥭
We will be back in Sri Lanka we hope soon 🙏 ❤️
@@KayandGogo it's divine. If you happen to get back to UK find some friends from srilanka, the problem is not many know about this magic combination, yes, wait till you get back to srilanka and I would love to hear your review of puttu with mangoes. Only yesterday I saw Gogo dance with that srilankan girl ...the way he was shaking his hips made me wonder whether Gogo was made of rubber. Tell him I envy him, around the world Gogo goes eating, dancing and making young girls swoon and leaving me gritting my teeth. Meanwhile thanks to QK and PG for keeping me spellbound with your excellent travel videos.
Haha he absolutely loved the dancing you need to go out with him he always attracts the girls haha today we were eating and he had 3 more all very nice and beautiful 😍
❤❤🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Mr. Gogo you are in India, Not in Srilanka.🙂Just kidding.
Ha ha that’s a good one 😄😄
Plz try chicken biryani & chi ek shawarma 🤍
We have tried both of them on our previous videos
Indian food taste better if you mix with side dishes. If there is more dishes you can try different combinations. Whatever suits you better. Works with rice ,porotta , chapati etc.
Thank you so much 💓
Sir puttu was not fresh so it's dry when it is fresh it's soft and fluppy next time when u go to breakfast ask him fresh puttu and kadla curry along with papadam and banana mix it well with all of them then u will experience next level of taste
Wow I bet its good with banana 🍌
someone should have given you some tips how to eat Puttu. you have to mix it with baby banana and eat that way. You don't gulp it straight. It will taste bland.if you do it the way gogo did.
We mixed it but didn't like it 😕
@@KayandGogo Probably not the best place to eat Puttu. Based on the video, it looked very dry. Come to my home in Atlanta, GA. I will give you the taste of my Puttu..You will like it.
Awww we would love that we want to try it now with mangoes or banana as we are recommended 😀
Hey Gogo u r in India🇮🇳 so wear India cricket team shirt.. The T20 world Champions 🏆🏆🏆
Definitely good idea 😊😊
Better you have "Puttu" with small banana (plantain)
Definitely we shall try with banana and also someone said soft mango 🥭
You don’t have to eat the chilli or peppers
We love them 😊😊
Hi
Hello 👋
👏😄
💓💓
Puttu, you had the wrong combination. It has to be eaten with ripe small bananas mix well and eat together or black grams curry for the spicy version. But non veg is never the right combination
Next time we will try it with banana. Thanks for the info
