    I'm glad you were able to spend some time in Indiana, and I hope you have some good memories to take with you. Looking forward to seeing some images of your home country!

    And to think that I could buy a close 'relative' of the Holga - the Diana - in the toy department of my local department store for less than a Dollar when I was a kid (the mid-1960s - yeah, I'm that old). The first time I came across a reference of using "cheap plastic toy cameras" for serious photography was a Petersen's Photography magazine in the early 1980s.

      Not what we are used to with photography, but they can make stunning images!

    Well, you buy the Holga for its imperfections, not to shoot perfect shots like with a mamiya or a bronica.
    I have 120N (plastic lens), 120GN (Glass lens), 6x12 panoramic with lens and 6x12 WPC (wide angle pinhole camera). They all produce very interesting results. I have used all kinds of film, from color slide up to bw infrared.
    Holga sells an adapter to fit on the lens for plastic holga filters and also an other adapter to fit on the lens in order to use a cable release for bulb mode (both very cheap).
    Welcome back to europe 🇪🇺 amigo 😊 Saludos de Grecia !

    My wife bought me the Dianna for Christmas one year; she paid over a 100 quid for it. She was gutted when she realised it was a toy camera. Actually it took some nice moody shots.. having watched this video again this morning, I’m inspired to take it out again. I wonder how it compares to the Holga

      Oh no, that's too bad! I understand the feeling of something not meeting expectations. But hey, as you used, that camera can create cool images as well. Not really sure how it compares to the Holga either. In any case, good luck with it!

      Thanks aows, I understand with plastic lenses, it’s the luck of the draw; some are better than others. I’m planning to take it out to the Lake District next week to see what I can get

      @@swingyapants sounds awesome! Those cameras paired with some moody weather can create amazing images :)

    Just starting out with the Holga 120n (rookie). Seeing as how the viewfinder isn't centered right over top of the lens, can it be slightly difficult to get your shot lined up the way you want?

    • @aows
      @aows  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say it's not a big deal unless you are shooting close-ups, where the distance might matter more. You can always try to take a photo of the viewfinder with your phone and compare with the results, to get a feeling. Or place your phone on top of your camera and move it from above the lens to above the viewfinder, that might give you an idea too. Good luck with that awesome camera!

    Did you use a tripod with these camera or hold a filter over the lense?

    • @aows
      @aows  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the long exposure? I did use a tripod, and held a filter with rubber bands around the camera.

      They have been edited in Lightroom, yes. Increased contrast and overall exposure adjustments.

    Great low light photos which I think suits the holga, never tried one but just maybe sometime soon. You may or may not know that Michael Kenna has a new book out called Holga worth a look. Once again great video see you next time.

      Thanks Mick! Yeah, I actually got it a few weeks ago and I loved it :) I still prefer some of his other books, but he's very good with the Holga.

    I just started using using a Holga. I stuffed some black cotton yarn into the channel on the back that mates with the body to avoid light leaks rather than taping. It seems to be working so far. I ran across a short video on using a 46mm step up ring to use what filters you already have with the Holga th-cam.com/video/J5dKIjdBo74/w-d-xo.html .

    • @aows
      @aows  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, that's cool! I'll check it out. I find the negatives coming out from the Holga a bit flat. A filter would help a lot.

    I just bought a 120N and shot four rolls of film. Just developed the first roll and it looks great 👍🏻 The first roll was 400 TMax and the other three are Tmax 100. They are what I have on hand but I really want to get some TRI-X for it.
