This is the way! I'm probably getting my SaberBay next month so it's good to see a preview of what to do to make my life easier! But wouldn't mind another Darksaber!
That’s awesome man! I think I’ve definitely heard from more people about that video being helpful to them than any other. Anyhow, I always love hearing from people who my videos have helped 😊 so thank you! This is the way.
Really enjoy these videos, I’ve just started getting into collecting lightsabers, it’s exciting to see what I’ve been missing out on for so long, thank you.
This is the way. Amazing detailing on the Saber Bay hilt. I, unfortunately had to back out of the run on the RPF, but its so cool to see what became of it!
Great job man! I have one of these as well and all I need to do is apply aluminum black to the grip and CC, and add the 2020 strip onto the board and it’ll be done. What font was that “faulty ignition” Darksaber font you had on there when the saber booted up? Sounds wizard!
Excellent!! And I completely forgot to update the description. The fonts should be there now. That one is called The Faulty Darksaber and it’s by jaydalorian.
This is the way !! Really cool hilts, love the live action interpretation of the darksaber. Really enjoy comparisons on high end replicas, it really helps in making a desicion on what to buy or what suits your wants.
Yeah, these are both really nice hilts in their own way. The Saberbay being a touch more detail and size accurate. And I prefer a bit slimmer hilt, so it is my favorite between the two. This is the way.
This is the way. Nice build! My one piece of advice would be to keep a close eye on focus. I'm sure you're probably already aware of it, but it made a few sections (particularly 8:25) a little difficult to follow.
Thanks! Yep, unfortunately missed that until I was editing. Thought about tossing it, but it wasn’t highly critical. People either know smd or they don’t, and I didn’t expound upon it there. I talk about it some in other videos. But yep, bummer that I didn’t catch the bad focus. I work with all manual focus that I have to set before each take. And when shooting low depth of field with a macro it’s tricky 😬 This is the way.
@@EccentricArtisan 👍Fair enough. On a totally different topic, what diameter size loom from SO did you use? Thinking I'm going to need to incorporate that into a build.
@@DonniesLab I used the 1/16”, but it was a little snug fitting the 3 wires (single 22awg and two 30awg) in with heat shrink on. If I had any more than that I would’ve gone up in size.
@@blackout6614 No problem. Fasteners and small machining details on the emitter from what I can see. I haven’t had one in hand, but I’ve also seen debate on the overall profile width/shape. It’s not far off though.
so im getting ready to start my install and was wondering how you wired the accent leds together. did you just run a single data line and define sub blades? and did you connect all the power and negative leads together between all the accent pixels? this’ll be my first time working with accent leds and im kinda confused how they all wire together
So I used two seperate data lines, one for RGB and the other for RGBW pixels. This is because they must be defined as such in the config in order to work properly. So my accents (crystal pixel, board pixels, and switch pixels) were all rgb and run together. And the blade was rgbw and run separately. For power, the typical way I set these up for proffie is to run the blade off of say LED pads 2 and 3 and the accents off 4 and 5. Or vice versa. Then define them as such in the config. Power isn’t direction or point specific however, so you can tie in to the accents all separately or in one line. It doesn’t matter so long as you complete the circuit(s). Data for those two runs though is critical to have set up properly both in direction and location. For instance, if you put all the accent pixels on one data lead, and want them to be independently controllable, you have to define each section to be controlled as a“subblade” in your config, and you have to number them accordingly. Am I answering what you are asking? Let me know if I’m not clarifying something properly, or if you have any other questions.
@@EccentricArtisan no that actually cleared things up a lot for me! but can the LED pads on the board be used in any combination or do specific ones have to be used/bridged when using multiple accent pixels? and when running the positive wires, did you just splice together the positive wires from the accent leds and the pcb to the battery wire?
@@Reckreational To simplify the answer, which can get a little multifaceted, I would just put the blade on 2 and 3 and accents on 3 and 4. That’s how the auto generated config will appear when you use this web page, and I’d say stick with it for simplicity. fredrik.hubbe.net/lightsaber/v5/ As for the the positive wires, yes they are spliced together back to the battery.
Did you come up with the idea to enamel the crystal and scratch it back or did you hear it from someone? I thought I was the first to come up with this but it would be so funny if we both came up with the same idea independently 😂
Dude I swear it was like deja vu! I was thinking to myself, I need to paint this crystal black, but also let light come through. I think I’ll rub off the high spots after painting. Then low and behold, less than a day later I saw yours, and I was like no effing way 😂
