As a Sailor, I was a plankowner to the E-6B taking the ABNCP mission and standing up the STRATCOM WING 1 maintenance det, later I flew a freakn lot of missions out of Offutt when I was assigned back to the Iron Man SQDN at Tinker.
When I got my orders for Offutt AFB in 1975, other airmen thought I was going to the gallows. "Who did you piss off?" It was FANTASTIC! I never had so much fun!!
The EC-135 that's on display at Kenny Gate is not an EC-135C LOOKING GLASS, instead, it's an EC-135A, PACCS: Post Attack Command and Control System aircraft. This was part of an airborne relay network that hooked into LOOKING GLASS, and the Underground Command Center, that is deep under Building 500.
@@thecrippledrummer it means that Offutt AFB is a horrible assignment not matter what your AFSC is. To many "Chiefs and not enough Indians". Everyone is on a power trip here. Now the area is amazing! The weather is great, all four seasons. Plenty to do within the local area. It's just horrible working here.
I raised my daughter on this base... Who now serves in the USAF ✈️ I ❤ seeing the base even more beautiful than ever!

Interesting video of Offutt AFB. I was based there 1981 through 1987. Many changes since then.
As a11-12 year old I road my bike all over the base. Lived near what was called the bellvue gate. Walked to Bellevue jhs to school. Saw JFK there

Fun doing what?
Hah - I got stationed there in 1974. And, yeah - it was a lot of fun (you couldn’t see the seasons change while inside the building though 😂)
Currently in tech school, was just given my assignment to Offut! Can’t wait to get to work!

Was stationed at offutt 1970 to 1971 after returning from Vietnam
I was at AFGWC from 1976-1978. Great time and made many good friends there.
Very cool. AFGWC was in Building D back in the day.
Does the new USSTRATCOM building have a bunker like SAC used to?
Yes even deeper.

Its changed a little bit , i grew up there , my father was part of SAC ( before stratcom)
Same here, we were stationed there twice 1975-1978, then again 1980-1985 when my dad retired.
That big ole super computer couldn’t see the tornado that hit the base.
@1:10 Missed on the last hammer and hit his wrist.
You need a better grounds contractor. Lots of weeds in the sidewalk cracks.
Once you get on it you can get Ofutt.
The could have cleaned the bird shit off the B-17plaque before filming it...
Spent 4 years there!
I definitely wish I would have had this video to watch before I got here. Than I would have known not to come here.
WTF is that supposed to mean?
I was there from AUG. 60 to Aug. 61 I agree with Chairforce 198 rolyat

What people say in the enlisted camp say is once you get on it you can’t get Offutt It can be a career ending base over the slightest bite of trouble
