I got the idea to take a family vacation to DCL this summer mainly because of your DCL videos, we really liked where we stayed and the area in general but the boat traffic was unlike anything i'd ever seen before. We rarely felt safe out on my boat and my brother in law and I couldnt really fish at all, even off the dock. I get summertime is crazy up there but you guys seem to avoid the chaos pretty well. Is there any no wake areas or parts of the lake calmer for folks just wanting to cruise around and relax? rather than tube and ski? Dont want any secret honeyholes at all lol just safer areas of the lake if you knew any. Glad to see your back posting vids!

@@jacobfunkhouser6600 Glad to hear you took the trip out there! It really is an awesome area. Every time we go to the lake, we make sure to rent a place towards the back of the coves. Anywhere right on the main stretch of water is horrible with boat and jet ski traffic. The south-eastern part of the lake is normally where we stay. It’s usually quieter down there. Even there, there’s some traffic, but you can avoid it by fishing at first light in the morning. Any time before 11am is usually good

@@Orange22Fishing we stayed in the cove on the right side just south of Glendale Bridge and it was craaaaaazy. Ive fished the tidal potomac for snakes and its nothing compared to how busy DCL is. Lol but everyone had a great time anyways. Ill definitely take your advice because the fishing just looks to good to ignore. Thanks for getting back to me. Maybe ill see ya out there sometime!

@@jacobfunkhouser6600 I forgot to mention that time of year plays a huge part. We usually go during the first week of june every year. Full tourist season doesn’t really kick in until late June out there. But yeah, anywhere around the Glendale bridge is going to be nuts. If you ever see us out there or at a snakehead spot definitely say hi!

Some pretty nice docks on that lake and a pretty fantastic place for some multi-species catches. Nice slab crappie at the end there, congrats.

Suggestion for leaving baited rods untended and at a distance? Get a girl's pony-tail 'scrunchie' (i think that's what these woven stretchable ~1.5" diameter are called) and double it over on the rod butt, near the reel's stem. After casting out but before setting the outfit down, just leave the bail open, but barely put a loop of your line under one or both strands. If a fish large enough to pull an outfit off the dock should latch on, the loop will release and relieve the tension first. You can also use a kayak angler's foam cylinder, and use another rid to snag a 'stolen' outfit, but an ounce of prevention...

Why do bass ever eat worms? Its not like they ever come across actual worms in the wild. That was a healthy slab there. I miss June even more now.

Can’t wait for more warm weather fishing next year. Until then it’s gonna be a grind!
