Snagging Regret 2024

- I wasn't planning to shoot a video this day,
but,
I suddenly found myself in a regretful situation.
One that I've experienced a few times sailing around Mount Desert Island.
I sail solo most of the time so I've often blamed myself.
Or, I defensively blamed a conspiracy that does not exist.
I don't like either response.
This is my sentimental attempt to capture a piece of boating life...
without blame or shame.

P.S. After watching this a few more times I'd recommend re-cutting or winching the buoy out of the water before testing my engine. duh.
That's my sailing grounds. Sailed from Deer Isle to Cranberry Isle this weekend. It is definitely a gauntlet in some areas (thisbyear lighter than most). In 8 years, I've had to cut two traps. I always do my best to free the warp for the benefit of the fisherman (rather than a quick cut of the line). My experience, if you have to go between the buoy and the toggle, stay on the toggle side, about 1/3 toward the toggle side, since that side the warp lays lower in the water.
I try to make, sincere /silly art videos for those who might watch and enjoy.
I will add that the change from black and white to color at the end has significance to me:
It is an attempt to emphasize the buoy's shift from it's misplaced and negative effect on my sailing life to its intended purpose at home as a part of a fishing lifestyle. I have worked with many amazing young people over the years who appeared "snagged" by a public school environment only to be perceived as an annoyance. So many of them were able to return to their ancestral fleet and prosper in ways that land lubbers would not understand.
