If you are interested in spending less during cruise trips the greatest results that i've had was by following the Carls Cruise Cutter (just google it) - definately the most incredible idea that I've tried.
Josh Stewart that's so true I had a horrible time with my friend. She picked excursions that were boring did not drink and wanted to take naps after meals. Going with my husband this year and I'm so excited.
One tip for the overpackers out there (like myself): when you get home from a trip that you overpacked for, write a packing list for the next trip. Yep, you read that right. While it's still fresh in your mind, rewrite a packing list only including the things you used and wore. Then stow it someplace safe or email it to yourself so that the next time you travel, you have it to reference. You'll trust yourself more than anyone else!
Another one for overpackers or folks that really like to load up on souvenirs: travel with clothes that are on their last legs, and ditch them throughout the trip. Sounds nuts to some people but my mom does this with her older underwear, tshirts, etc. Toss em or donate them along the way to free up space in your suitcase. I brought a pair of shoes on my last trip that were on their last legs - left em on the boat and my luggage was underweight at the airport!
I would say on your first cruise, especially on the first day. Don't overdue it. You will have plenty of time to explore the ship, catch a deck party. Your first day examine your cabin thoroughly, find the most important places such as, guest services desk, lido, and where you will dining that evening or night. Just grab you a drink virgin or alcoholic (not too many though) and take it all in. Use your phone to make last minute calls and then power it off or put it in airplane mode, being unavailable is the best part of a cruise for me. If you are cruising with others find out where their rooms are located....most of all ENJOY, RELAX, and TAKE IT ALL IN! Your on vacation baby whoot whoot!
I just have to point out something kind of ironic that happened to me on my first cruise!! Mrs. Traveler says that you will never see those people again. Usually that is true, but on my first cruise, someone recognized me a week after I got back. It turned out that they were on the same cruise I was on, and they were visiting someone who lived in my building when they recognized me. What are the odds?!! So funny.
That's how I felt about my swimsuits when I went on my first cruise. I was so self conscious and then it clicked: I am never gonna see them again. And seriously no one cares what you look like in your suit. Wear whatever you want and have fun!
That was so me last month on my first one. Next one at the end of the year and it will be a million times better with the confidence and knowledge I've gained since
Hey Mr. and Mrs. Traveler! I love watching your videos. I would love to see your older cruise videos. Please keep doing what you are doing. I love learning new things and I love traveling. Mrs. Traveler I love watching your channel as well. You are an inspiration and a great person so dont let the negative people bring you down. You are way to blessed to be stressed. Just remember your moto "Life's short have fun". Love you guys!
Another tip is, if you over pack and are staying an extra day in the cruise home port, go to the local post office and ship back the things you might not need in the interim
Hi Guys! After only 5 cruises, I have learned one person is consistently on every cruise. The loud drunk obnoxious guy or girl is always there. Don't be that guy! Pace yourself....ship jail is real :-) Happy Cruising!!!! Leaving in 2 weeks.
you guys are absolutely adorable. My life's motto is live while you're alive. I've only been on two cruises due to financial hardships but I really want to go again soon, especially after suffering two small strokes in 2015. I've recovered well and looking forward to getting on a ship as soon as I can! thanks for all your videos!
I just returned from my very first cruise!! I wish I would have known to not turn on my phone at all! (Even though we were told we could use our phones in Mexico) Lol we now have a $400 cell phone bill! Just leave it in airplane mode and use it for pictures.
Brittany Phillips You can negotiate your overages with your cell carrier if you have been a long time customer. We just went on our first cruise last week and I made sure we were covered as far as data usage but was not told that we were not covered at sea in international waters just was told my plan covered international roaming. Long story short I negotiated my data overages and pretty much got almost all of it taken off.
If you have AT&T, you can use your phone in St. Thomas with no extra charge. A good rule to use, if you see a different carrier at the top of your screen, you will probably incur roaming charges
I wished I would have known no to fly in on the same day when you have a long flight to the cruise city. You could really miss your cruise if your flight is delayed.
Thank you for all the tips and information. Just booked my first cruise with Royal Caribbean and I was having panic attacks listening to everyone else, but you guys really helped to ease my nerves with every youtube video I watch from y'all... Thanks so much!!!
Elle, you look so much better!! I love seeing that smile on your face! Merry Christmas you guys!! Side note: My "I wish I would have known before my first cruise" Even tho you don't need cash for the cruise ship, you need cash for the islands you visit. We spent all of our cash in Aruba and curaçao... and we needed more, only to find out they don't dispense the USD. Also, I have to agree with Elle's tip in regards to the sunblock.. use it, even if it's cloudy!!! And REAPPLY! I got such a bad burn in curaçao even tho it was cloudy... I got blisters on my nose and forehead 😞 Sending love from chilly MI
The video was great guys! I would tell people cruising for the first time to relax, relax , relax! Enjoy everything about the cruise.... it us so peaceful out on the ocean, your cabin stewardship takes excellent care of you and you have a ship full of people to enjoy and staff to help with all your needs. If you can disconnect from the rest of the world, on a cruise is the perfect time, no cell phones, no emails just enjoy where you are and who you are with!
we never over packed but I wish I did this cruising ages ago!!!!! I watched all your videos and took notes so your vlogging helped me alot we are adventurous and went taxi on our own adventer MERRY CHRISTMAS HE IS KING!!!!!
Ya'll are adorable, thanks so much for your tips. I was dreading my cruise, and because of you I feel prepared to have MFGT w my parents, my sister, my guy and my kids. Keep 'em coming and YES bring your low res videos. Get an editor to mix it the way you want to be inspire!
I love your videos!!! you guys are so funny and an adorable couple. I really needed the tips since we are taking our first cruise this summer. I'm so glad I found you two!!
First time watching,i am planning a cruise to surprise my hubby bud,you guys helped so much, thank you.yall are so sweet going to watch all of your vlogs.
I would recommend researching anything and everything about where you're going, what to do there, what to do on the ship, rules, freebies, etc. Even if you are coming across the same tips again and again I always find a few valuable ones in the mix. Also, remember that just about everything costs! I was a single mother traveling with a 9 month old on our first cruise and really underestimated how much money to bring with us. Lastly, I would nail all of the details before traveling. At the seaport checking in for our first cruise the cruise line tried to tell us that my child wasn't paid for. It was an error on their end because she was on the itinerary and I received a confirmation of the total purchase but they would not let us board the ship without a payment for her even though it was their error. We were really far from home so thank goodness for family who didn't mind lending a helping hand!
I'm getting the same thing from people and I appreciate it ;I like to be informed but there is crime everywhere. I plan to be aware but I'm going to have fun! Can't wait.
First of all, y'all are cute!!! Thanks for posting these videos. I will be taking my first cruise with my 19 year old daughter and 20 year old "work babygirl" and 21 year old "work son" in April. This video has answered a few questions I had. Looking forward to seeing other videos you have posted and will post.
Great information, we are about to go on our very first cruise excited but nervous, can't wait. Thank you for the great info and I look forward to following you guys. 25 cruises wow crazy...
Love the video! Thanks guys for looking so damn happy 😊 We landed here after searching for first time cruising videos, getting excited as we're leaving in 2 days on our first cruise. 14 days in the Med, leaving from Southampton which is about 70 miles away from us, so no flights.
1. The porter at the dock, told us that there really isn't a weight limit to worry about for the bags. 2. The companies at the ports can save you a lot of money on excursions vs. going thru the cruise lines. 3. Don't stress so much about the money conversion, most places show both prices. 4. Carnival has a "Hubb" app. and for $5.00/ea. for the entire cruise, you can stay in touch with the others in your party.
For my first cruise I would've brought sea sickness medicine. After the first port and coming back to the ship I was fine but those first days it was rough!
I think a good tip is if there's something you want - ask! When the crew asks 'is there anything else I can do?" if there is, let them know. Crème brulee was only on one menu on the ship but I got it for dessert every night. Just ask!
More and more I find the "travel size" items for sale at stores are VERY costly for what you get. I save a bar of soap from home that has already worn down to a 'travel size', and bring it. Toss 1 or 2 in a sammie bag. My fave toothpaste, same thing -- if there is enough toothpaste for 2 people for 1 week I bring it and throw it out on the last morning and don't bring it home again. This way I have my fave products (you can't always get your favorite toothpaste in travel size, etc) and less clutter to bring home again. I have a little basket in the cupboard under my sink where I keep a few worn down bars of soap and almost empty toothpaste, etc., that are ready for the next trip! I also prefer pump hand foam soap in the bathroom, so I always bring an almost finished one from home, with enough soap liquid in it to last 2 people for a week. Then I throw it out (or let the cruise line recycle it) instead of bringing it home.
Omg, watched your video because my mom and I are about to go on our first cruise, and find out you guys are from Redford, MI? That's where my mom lives. What a small world. Thanks for the tips!
am I the only under packer???? I either under pack or I am spot on!!!! I travel on an airplane a lot so I have a 21" roller, a backpack and my small cross body LV! easy!
a warm 🎄 Christmas. Im living for tht. God bless y'all. Count it All Joy. on my first cruise i wish i would've known how important it is TO BE ON TIME FOR ACTIVITIES AND SHOWS/LIDO DECK PARTIES
We always over pack too and yes we would love to see those throwback pics and videos. Please dont forget the sunscreen because my wife & i were also burnt on a cruise.
Love your videos! Going on Harmony of the Seas in March. Can't wait. I just booked an Atlantis dolphin swim at their resort along with their parks with lunch. It's pricey but we'll be celebrating a birthday so why not go for it? Happy traveling and stay safe!
On our first cruise they didn't tell us we were upgraded to a suite until we got our sail and sign card if we had known we could have avoided the long line.
New subscriber and a Michigander. Looking through your videos since I have my first cruise coming up in 7 months. Yes it is below zero up here tonight so you guys enjoy being down in Florida.
Awesome video guys. I am a little worried about gaining a lot of weight when we go on our first cruise. I am on Weight Watchers and so far have lost 73 lbs since last January. I guess I will have to take a lot of stairs and do a lot of walking because I know I will not want to deprive myself of any of the delicious food. lol I hope you two have a wonderful Christmas. I look forward to your next video. Cheers. :)
I was pleased to find that I did not gain any weight during the cruise I went on years ago. We walked a lot just as a natural part of our excursions and exploring, but I didn't spend any time in the gym. For me, I found the portions in the restaurants to be filling, but properly portion-controlled. The up-side of the buffets, however, would be that you can pick exactly what you want to eat and stick to your WW points. Also, I cruised Norwegian, so without dinner times set in stone, I was able to wait to eat until I was hungry.
On one cruise, a lady stood up at karaoke and yelled, "I don't care! I'm never gonna see these people, again!" We, immediately, recognized her from our last cruise LMBO. That "learned" me really quickly to never say that again lol.
you guys are just the sweetest.....thank you for all you videos. We are taking our teenagers on their first cruise in a couple of days to Bahamas and Freeport. any advice? this will be my second cruise and my first one I was dizzy and sick the whole time.
ok...lovin yall! Your videos are exactly what we needed to see. I'm subbed. I'm takin notes. Hoping to take my husband, to make his wish come true, and for me to face a huge fear! His birthday is in February. Is that a good time of year to go? What ship should we start with? Where should I take him? I appreciate all answers in adavance.
Hi! Can you do a video on cell phone plans and how they work in Bahamas etc. we (husband and I with two kids under 10) have cruise locally for us out of la 2 times. However next year we plan on going on a Caribbean cruise out of Miami on Ncl. We haven't ever flown with kids etc and I am an overpacker. What should we wait to buy in Miami to not go over our baggage limit etc? I have heard we should by shampoo etc when we get to miami then leave the leftovers in cabin? Thanks!
Oh yes she is back yahooooooooo. Oh yes I over packed to. I thought it was good to over pack than under as mother said. Hum lol.smile. On a cruise please do not over pack.
I would not buy the pop package because we normally don't drink more than 1 pop a day if that at home. I bought it for my kids because I thought they would need it so they could have juice but we barely used it. On Carnival at least, there were drink machines with lemonade, ice tea and maybe a juice that you could access anytime and the buffet had white & chocolate milk as well. If you really like pop then it is probably fine but it wasn't worth it for my family.
Mr. Traveler, I normally do Royal Caribbean, we have found out for someone who is disabled, want we ask for is normally we get. 9 times out of 10. But the one thing I can not get a straight answer on is a power stripe or surge protector. The only reason I am asking is because at night we have to use two C-Pap's and charge a power chair. I have tried to explain, my problem I get different answers. The agent that I talk to says that I can bring it, then a couple of days later I get a email says that we are not allowed. Just saw the video on what to bring on a cruise 2016, so please let me know. With Carnival we never get what we need. Never am satisfied. Please help..
Hi Mr. and Mrs. Traveler!! I'm a new subscriber. Love your videos!! I'll be going on my first cruise in July on the carnival sensation. I cant wait!! Have you ever had a problem with your belongings being stolen while your on the beach? Id love to see some throwbacks!!
Tanner N how and where can you have pictures taken during a cruise? I have a 50 photo pkg on the Norwegian Epic coming up and have never seen people getting their picture taken onboard or off.
I have not been on Norwegian so I'm not sure if it's the same. On rccl they take pictures all around before dinner and night and at most ports when you get off the ship there will be people take pictures as soon as you get off. Hope this helps
Hello mr & mrs traveler, What do you suggest; Iam truly on a budget, but it is my 25th anniversary and want to make the most out of the 5 day cruise as possible. I want to do the excursions but they are outrageous when you think about paying for 2 people, Are they worth it? Iam going to Jamaica, and Mexico. Any suggestions? I know there is always the beach but what else is there to do that you have experienced or even an excursion that is worth paying for? Side not, I love you both together great combination. Iam also from Florida
The thing I wish I would of known before my first cruise was picking your traveling companions wisely. They can make or break your trip.
I have spent months studying saving money during cruises and found an awesome website at Arack Ship Tips (check it out on google)
+Sherrelle Philon I'm going on my 1st cruise and concerned about the excursion. Can you share which excursions were boring. Thank you very much!

flashyandfabulous great tip
Great advice, thanks.
flashyandfabulous good tip
my tip is to remember it's Your vacation. Catch a show if you want to, or don't..don't set your alarm..set your own schedule.

That was so me last month on my first one. Next one at the end of the year and it will be a million times better with the confidence and knowledge I've gained since
I’ve never been self conscious about swim suits.
I look like this. I got over it. Other ppl should too.
Hey Mr. and Mrs.
What a brilliant video...love the tips but...more importantly, the world needs more of you!!! Brightened up a cold snowy evening in England!!!
Thomas Smith Thanks for the love friend!!! We hope spring comes quickly for you!!
Another tip is, if you over pack and are staying an extra day in the cruise home port, go to the local post office and ship back the things you might not need in the interim
Liza B great tip.
Hi Guys! After only 5 cruises, I have learned one person is consistently on every cruise. The loud drunk obnoxious guy or girl is always there. Don't be that guy! Pace yourself....ship jail is real :-)
Happy Cruising!!!! Leaving in 2 weeks.
danesha spearman Yes it is! And so is getting kicked off the ship!
you guys are absolutely adorable. My life's motto is live while you're alive. I've only been on two cruises due to financial hardships but I really want to go again soon, especially after suffering two small strokes in 2015. I've recovered well and looking forward to getting on a ship as soon as I can! thanks for all your videos!

Thanks I'll call them again when it's posted on our account.
If you have AT&T, you can use your phone in St. Thomas with no extra charge. A good rule to use, if you see a different carrier at the top of your screen, you will probably incur roaming charges
I’m turning mine off. Using a camera for pics.
I don’t want my phone stolen or damaged.
I wished I would have known no to fly in on the same day when you have a long flight to the cruise city. You could really miss your cruise if your flight is delayed.

So, make sure we DO us. Don't be shy. Live in the moment. Don't overpack.

On our first cruise they didn't tell us we were upgraded to a suite until we got our sail and sign card if we had known we could have avoided the long line.
violet williams Wow I wish we had those type of problems!!!

yes a throwback video would be great!
Cute couple! Thank you for sharing all the tips!
Cheers. :)
Helen Fortune Just pace yourself, you'll be fine!!
Thank you!
Getting ready for our first cruise, you guys are adorable! :-) thank you!

ok...lovin yall!
Love you two! Merry Christmas.
Thanks!
scar Excellent questions! I'll answer them in Hot Topics the first Thursday of 2017!
Oh yes she is back yahooooooooo. Oh yes I over packed to. I thought it was good to over pack than under as mother said. Hum lol.smile. On a cruise please do not over pack.
please put some of the footage from your previous cruise
I would not buy the pop package because we normally don't drink more than 1 pop a day if that at home. I bought it for my kids because I thought they would need it so they could have juice but we barely used it. On Carnival at least, there were drink machines with lemonade, ice tea and maybe a juice that you could access anytime and the buffet had white & chocolate milk as well. If you really like pop then it is probably fine but it wasn't worth it for my family.
You two are great! thanks for sharing.
I'm Just Fatima Thanks so much.
Denise Williams No we've never had anything stolen while on the beach.
Good to hear!!! Thank you!!!
which cruise would you go on first for an aniversary cruise enchantment or majesty of the sea?
Mazarie Lee Enchantment is a bigger ship, so I would go with that one.
this all sounds about right....................
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! Thank you so much
Looking to go on my very first cruise
Yah she's back
hi from australia..cool vids .thx .you two are great to watch :)
Sarah Hello there! We're trying to get over there to visit your country. We were supposed to go last January but our move took up the funds.
awe thx :)
Take as many pictures as you want on the ship from their photographers! If you don't want to buy them you don't have to pay a thing.
Tanner N but them you don't get the pictures.
Iam also from Florida
u guys are awesome together.
I really enjoy all of your videos!! Do you ever cruise out of New Orleans?
what do you recommend taking actual lagguage or the bag type luggage
l h I prefer the duffle bag type.
You guys are the cutest couple!
Definately don't over pack & research to explore on my own!
