as an australian who had kangaroos raiding my backyard from time to time, i can confirm kangaroos are not as cute as people think they are and vox’s comparison of kangaroos as fcked up rabbits got me dead 😂😂😂

5:00 For those wondering why they're arseholes to dogs, it's because dingos are their main predators (outside of people). Usually, dingos hunt in packs. So, when they see a dog, they see a dingo without the defence of its pack and an opportunity to rid the area of danger.

@@fdk12 Yes. They're a very loosely domesticated dog humans brought to the Australian mainland 60,000 years ago. I say very loosely because, although some have been successful, you can't really tame them too well. Folks get attacked by dingoes all the time, especially in K'gari, and there is the infamous case where a dingo stole and ate someone's baby. This was, shall we say, meme'd at the time which bled over to US culture as "a dingo ate me baby!" However, there's a larger story behind it, and it was a very real and traumatic experience for the family. So I personally advise against making that joke, even though some aussies still do it.

This is just a general rule that will depend on what animal we're talking about, but a good way to avoid danger when facing most angry animals are:
    1) Train your dogs. Most attacks from animals happen because dogs are lacking in discipline.
    2) Walk away, as long as the animal isn't chasing you. Don't run. Don't approach or stare at any angry or weary animals in general, then you are just asking for trouble. They are not your friends, they are wild animals.
    3) Be relaxed and warn it, when the animal is keeping some distance. Animals won't waste energy on something that isn't a threat, in most cases. Force yourself to be calm, even if you aren't on the inside.
    4) Be extremely confident and scream loudly and aggressively, when the animal is getting very close. Only some tigers are predators of humans, every other species don't know what we are, and instinctively fear us if you seem confident.
A lot of animals beat us in a fight, so to actually physicially fight the animal is usually not a good option. I guess I would, though, if nothing else worked, in hope that it would scare it away.

In Australia you see kangaroos just standing in the middle of the road looking at you and in your car you have to just stay there for a good 10 minutes or until they move and they just look at you ( where i live i get kangaroos standing in the middle of the road cause i live in the middle of nowhere in the CBD areas you dont get them standingin the middle of the road)
