My Dad met Robert Ballard at one point. He, My dad was a veteran diver and seal. He dove on the Regina. My dad and I shared a love for the Titanic and there would be no greater way in My mind to honor His life than for me to build this ship. I hope someday I can get this build too before it disappears. Such a tragedy that ship and such an amazing build!!

I love how much you get to actually start this build. Especially all the stuff for that forecastle.
Haven't gotten mine yet, but I'm already ready to go. As I've mentioned, I plan on doing a LOT of modifications to make this model really look accurate to the ship. Because, beyond the colors being wrong for some stuff, there's other minor things.
As we discussed, I'll be guiding viewers to your channel if they want a stock build, and I'll be doing the all out, mod crazy build. Like with the hull, I actually plan to drill out the windows so they light up later on. Which means painting the hull as well.
Like I said, it's gonna be crazy, bit it should also be a lot of fun!

@@WorldofWayneUK I'll DM you when the video goes up. Kind of been at a standstill on videos lately. Eaglemoss messed up and sent me parts for Ecto1 instead of Enterprise 2 months ago, and haven't yet corrected it, so it's held up my modeling. And I haven't gotten any confirmation of this being shipped yet, and even then, with all the modifications, it's going to be a bit before a video is up.
Still, we're gonna have fun doing this. Going to be interesting.

Hi Wayne , I watch your videos with much interest especially the Bismarck and now the hachette titanic. I have just received my first issues of the titanic, and I was torn between using wood glue to go between the deck floor or not. I had watched some other videos on the ship from other model makers, and most did not use wood glue first on the deck and I thought struggled somewhat to get it straight. I am glad I took your advice as it will not only protect the model from the floor lifting, the advantage is when you fit the two pieces together you can still move them a bit to get it exactly right. Thanks for the tip.

  • @julianmhall

Just a thought - mainly for new modellers as you know what you're doing :) Screw partially into one part so you don't lose the screw [hopefully], marry the two parts together and complete attaching them. That way you can hold just the part instead of the part and the screw at the same time making it less fiddly.

Thanks for uploading this. I would’ve absolutely loved to build this incredibly intricate Titanic model but I’m currently out of work, due to injury, so funds are too tight & I can’t sacrifice any needs or “wants.”
I built the Orrery & Earth/Moon/Sun orbiter from Eaglemoss, a few years back. There were some issues with metal quality in screws, which had to be substituted but both models still look incredible. I’ve always enjoyed model building, thanks to my amazing Dad.
Your video has been an enjoyable torment, so far & I look forward to seeing it to completion. My hope is that I will get to do this one day.
If you do get to build the Orrery, I’d hold out for one from a company that doesn’t use China to manufacture parts. The English company started out with brass parts, until a $$ issue resulted in using cheaper products (as per their letter, halfway through my subscription) I had screws that crumbled & I know brass isn’t magnetic but it worked out OK, except the 2nd orbiter. That was completed but due to design flaws & bent gears, it’s just an ornament that sadly never worked.

Hi Wayne, I started my titanic bill today. I didn’t quite understand why you needed glue for the wooden deck. I saw that there wasn’t much adhesive on the in first place. I put it on initially without extra glue, and it didn’t stick very well. I carefully peeled it back up and applied glue and it sticking much better.

had problems with some of these. the anchor, steam valves and breakwaters's little pegs broke when it was hard to get them in, whether ther wood glie hardened or slight misalignment for the holes. They easily broke with a little pressure. Had to cut off the rest of the pegs and just glue them down. Also those capstones were a pain to push down. thos buggers gave me a lot of resistance. Took a while to get them in and my thumbs were not happy lol.

I almost skipped this because I thought it was the same build you already started a couple of months ago from a different publisher, how does that build compare in terms of size? 2. Where are you gonna find space to display it? 3. Did you take out those white pieces on the deck immediately? I don't get why everybody is so hyped with this model. If you compare it too the Eaglemoss wooden ship maybe people prefer the Agora/Hachette one because it's metal and has moving part. And maybe because it's 1:200 scale instead of 1:250. But in terms of the building process the wooden one in my opinion is much more fun and worth your money. It asks a lot more skill to build than just clicking/screwing parts together.
That brings a question to mind: do you buy a model for the end result or for (the fun in) building process.... for me it's definitly the last one!

      Damn good question that

    • @robertgripton4499

Well, I just finished Stage 3, and rather than thinking it "fiddly" (it was) I saw it as a fun challenge. That's the point of this hobby! A tip;. Test/dry fit the engine blocks, make sure the pins and holes accept each other. I loosen the holes just A TAD with an X-Axto blade ..not too much! You want a tight fit. When fixing in the piston rods, a strip of masking tape helps organize, it is easily removed after. So, don't give up.
