    Killer video, Mussar! Thank you for this. I've been wanting to take a more informed approach to using waveshaping rather than just drawing shapes and seeing what results. Starting with the compressor and limiting was eyeopening and a great takeaway. Take care! :)

    i used to set compressor to 20:1 before and pull the threshold down
    but i was confused why it was changing the sound, now i know thank :)
    and that why a lot of 3rd party plugins include a oversampling to remove extra harmonics i guess.

      oversampling doesn't actually affect upper harmonics by removing them, it processes the audio at double, triple quadruple (2x, 3x, 4x oversampling) or more times the sample rate of your audio. This is to remove aliasing, low harmonics that are caused by very high frequencies that when processed by lower sample rates, become low multiples of themselves, so called "undertones", as opposed to overtones.
