Been to Denman Park. Just across from Holmes Street cafe (on Holmes St 😁) saw the rock formation so its tops to learn more about it. Denman Park has a tree lined walk way too - its a very nice wildlife habitat park 🎉🎉🎉
Hi there guys I'm from ipswich and I have always known that sommerset dam is on a fault so if that fault moves the dam wall may claps then ipswich will get a wall off water and Brisbane thanks for sharing stay safe blessings everyone from tropical far north Queensland
@@denismartin4680 it is, but its pretty stable, a few mm a century, so is wyvenhoe snd tge north pine dam. unfortinatly rivers like to follow faults sometimes.
Cool, They really churned through them in the old days. One every few years, or faster. I detected a lot of the old parks in Ippy on the late 80s. Found some coins, a crap load of ring pill can tops and one Ipswich token.
There was some risk of vandalism to the Denmark Hill Reservoir but the real reason it is closed is so tele-photos can't be taken of Amberley RAAF base where the 3x B2 bombers are based.
My wife’s ancestor (if I’ve got the correct one) died after being run over by a dray! I’d love to be able to wave the wailing wand around some of the parks there but a bit too crook right now to do anything but sit and watch clips like yours on TH-cam.
I have some great memories from that lookout over the years. I hope hey open it again. I get annoyed when an entity is given an asset and then think they own it, It ours, they just manage it. Again, they forget who they work for..
I live out in Bellbird Park so this stuff is cool. I like to know things about where I live. Geology isn't a thing I expected to like but that was cool.

Great video, watched last night. I never knew large cracks like that, were actually faults.

My wife has an ancestor who was Mayor of Ipswich about 140-150 years ago.

I grew up playing in that park in north ippy and always loved collecting rocks from that cutting.
nice to learn about the geological faults in my community.
Interesting stuff, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it

I think near Forsdale / Mt. Whitestone has that finer grained sandstone - finer than Helidon.
Walked past that column many times never looked at it, have been on top of the reservoir awesome views from there.

I Wonder how many faults you'd find in Canberra 🤔

T-ROCKA you need a cameraman. One less thing to worry about. Leave the selfie sticks to Rob lol.
👍 yea.
How long do you think it would be for anyone in Brisbane realised that Ipswich got swallowed up in an earthquake?
Well Brissy's water comes from Ipswich, so a coupla days for the reservoirs to go dry and once they can't wash their Teslas in St.Lucia...
Yep, As soon as the Taps ran dry on most of the southside.
Ya can't fault Ipswich.... surely...
It's not my Fault, It was the Quacks what done it !!
Hahaha love it!
I used to work in the Swich. What's the difference between a Ipswich boy and an Ipswich girl?
Tell Me, Actually, I just remembered the punch line, Not here mate.
@@t-rocks1960 I was going to tell you to Google it 😆
