There are many spectacular finds out there. Sometimes free sometimes you have to pay. I can go in the woods behind my house and find similar trees to that tree he was working on. I con go into the hills and find ash junipers that are very old. I can find old lantana with thick trunks not to far from me. And you can always put an add for shrub removal for free. That can get you really old junipers.
I really think the side you called the back should be the front so the hole in the trunk can be seen from the front. Do you find you tend to face most of your trees curving the same direction? It seems many bonsai artists do.
Some argue is is because whether you are right handed or left handed. We are habitual beings! Also, the likelihood is there is in your life a tree with a certain style that really pleases you… Bonsai is recreating your idealized nature. Your way is by definition right for you!
i really need you to start selling mume bonsai!! i really want a finished bonsai that i can’t keep pruning from you!! to keep your heirloom alive for many years!! only 21 years old right now!
I really like the backside of the tree where you can see the hole. Even better if you could accentuate it more! I'm not sure I understood the thing he said about the triangles? Anyone care to explain?
Most mature tree in nature has ah embrella look...irregularity in the gorw results in asymetry...thuse the triangle...one side is longer than the other.
This is off topic to this video, but as you know, I’m transitioning from only bonsai styled garden trees, to potted trees also. And I’m still a while away from shallow pots, but how do you keep squirrels and chipmunks from digging and destroying roots?
I had a question because i live in bali in the tropical weather is there still a specific time to repot and prune because one of my bonsai died after I repotted it in early summer.
it's so lovely sir Milton

Thanks for the encouragement!
Wow! Well done sir!
Glad you liked it!

I think it would look beautiful to show more of the hollow in the trunk, indeed. Great work 👏👏

It is a beautiful tree and I appreciate all of the great knowledge you share.

You are going to have one beautiful Elm bonsai. I am always amazed how much we can cut/trim for future design and ramification. Thank you.
No pain, no gain!🙂

Welcome Allie.
Will be spectacular. It's always about the quality of stock. Most of us , unfortunately, can't get our hands on such gold as this.

Good question! I will address this in an upcoming Q&A!
Should you start growing a sacrificial branch early on or later in the bonsai's age?
Good question! I will go over this in my Q&A!
