He didn't make it too far until he realised he was surrounded. All throughout, the chopper reporter was commentating and right as the perp retrieved what he wanted from the car the main studio anchor started saying something like "Cut it. Back to studio. Cut it!" The perp, once he realised he was surrounded, very quickly pulled out his gun he got from the car "Cut it! Cut it! Stop the camera! Stop!" aimed at his head "CUT IT CUT IT CUT IT-!" and killed himself. The whole thing was live, NO DELAY and the anchor was rightfully pissed off. "I SAID CUT IT FOR GOD'S SAKE!" The worst thing is the camera zoomed in right as the guy put the gun up to his head and then quickly zoomed out BUT STILL DIDN'T FUCKING CUT until he pulled the trigger.
Nobody's justifying murder here, just pointing out how ridiculous the situation got; the gov was so pressed about this man wanting to... build a house on the property he bought 💀 Why were they so quick to refuse? What went wrong? We might never know (or we do, I just don't)

That is usually a post-hoc excuse. When you read what these petty bureaucrats in my little country send to normal people building themselves a home or a shed, it is almost always "that is 20cm too tall and thus the whole structure needs to be demolished", "your quaint little cabin with zero neighbours is 'unsightly and damages the appearance of the local area' ", or "it is completely compliant but we didn't explicitly give you permission so now we are just going to bully you until you stop building this compliant structure on your own land and pay us a fine and wait 5 years before daring to try and sustain yourself again". They're penalty farmers with just enough power to tickle their ego, but not enough to make them content that thrive when the people under them are maximally restricted and fined. Squatters can steal a house in my country with impunity but a law abiding man can't even compliantly build his own home without being harassed by middle-class social rejects with a stupid position in a useless public body.
