I agree with this! In my experience, I was progressively getting less and less in my box until one month I was like, " I could get the same quantity and/or quality from Joann or Walmart." Then I cancelled my subscription. Recently, I saw a video from one of my favorite TH-camrs that'd recently subscribed to them and all that was in the box was that initial rainbow cake, the crochet hook, and the knitting needles. And like you said, they're charging $20 per month now unless you subscribe for a year. It's just too much.
No way would I subscribe to a box like that. I could go to a store and buy 5 times the yarn for the same price, plus I could just crochet a bag for my hooks ..
I actually have a crocheted holder that I've been using for years, and I still prefer it over this one. I will say when the boxes where $10 it was like you were getting a discounted skein of their yarn, plus a little bonus, which wasn't too bad to me, i just didn't like knowing what i was getting next.
Hi ! We are sorry to know that this subscription did not work out. Thank you so much for your feedback is really important to us to keep us on our A-Game!! If you have any questions about your subscription, feel free to email us at info@darngoodyarn.com!
I receive their three balls of yarn a month club and so far I haven't been disappointed. I don't get the extras like the bag you received but I do get a free pattern of my choice each month. I really love the yarns they have and accidentally received someone else's monthly stash of squishiness so I made sure to get it to the post office to get the package back in transit to the customer. I let DGY know-they gave me a $15.00 coupon to use so I don't have anything negative to say.
I never got the knitting needles or crochet hook as well and I can’t handle the smell of the yarn. I stayed with it for over a year. Quit in February but I still got a box.
I cancelled also, for many of the same reasons. There is not enough yarn to make anything except a cowl, fingerless gloves, something little & ultimately useless!
you can request to darn good yarn for the box that is next months just tell them that you want to skip all previous boxes. i request buy all box at once and then getting the box they were on at the time.
i CONSTANTLY get ads for this box and i really feel like it's marketed toward people who might know how to knit or crochet, but aren't In The Knitting And Crochet Community - maybe they made a washcloth when they were a kid and have been getting back into crafting, but theyre finding their patterns on pinterest instead of ravelry.
I unsubscribed my subscription to Darn Good Yarn when it was $10 a month. I was with them for about a year and cancelled my subscription because I was not too impressed with the projects or the yarn. As I understand it the mystery boxes are not too impressive for the price.
I subscribed about 2 years ago. I cancelled after 4 months. There wasn’t enough variety in the urn from month to month, and I literally had no use for any of the extra items. Absolutely not worth it.
Yeah I tried them and the yarn is really nice but to purchase more of the yarn was simply out of my price range. The mystery surprise item was of no real interest

The only thing that is changed is the price it’s still the same crappy things that your already getting
I liked the yarn I got in my boxes, just not worth it to me.

They may have changed the way the boxes work since I first subscribed, which could be why you did not get them.
If the odor is a little...TOO organic it is probably cow urine in the dye.
They were junk anyway

I didn't keep my subscription either to high for what you get
Agreed!
So glad I found your channel 💯

Yeah that was my second box as well 🤦🏽♀️

I ordered on the first & only paid $10 but I haven't got anything

4 years later, the box is $25, and with taxes and shipping, the it comes to $36!
I thought about subscribing. The yarn is not worth $20 unless the quantity of yarn has increased.
You should try KnitCrate.

They now send the yarn in a plastic bag. No gift or pattern.
Yeah they played you. Sorry
