- I'm back with my latest, 1983 Suzuki rm500d.. this has been a complete winter project which nearly broke the piggy bank!! all rebuilt engine both bottom end and top end, complete teardown to frame... did repairs and welding to frame rebuilt shock and suspension front and rear!! everything was touched, nothing missed... check it out...

Wow. I'm literally in shock. You have got to be one the coolest guys I've came across in a long time. I really, appreciate that. The fact that I'm sure you could have found something better to do, than talk to me. Thank you for taking the time, not only to write back, but to give a detailed message like that, has got to be the coolest thing, I've experienced yet on you tube. I've been out of the bike loop now, for about ten years. I have a great family, and sometimes life gets in the way. It's been a while needless to say, and at one, I would have done most of the things you talked described above. It's been so long, I would have forgotten to do have of that. Thank you for that detailed maintenance list. I will absolutely do that. The problem is, it won't be this bike I'm afraid. The little shit won't call me back. When I went and looked at it, he asked me after 15 min of tinkering on the bike, if I had the money with me, and I already had told him, prior to coming that I'm not bringing the money today, I wanna try and see if we can get it running first before I buy it. Made sense to me🤷🏼♂️. When I said no, he never said a word for the last 10min of me being there. I talked to his friend instead. Obviously he was frustrated that I didn't bring the cash. I texted him from work,and he's not responding now. Iswhat it is I guess. I'll find one eventually. I'm close to your age and he's close to my son's. I'll do business with gentleman from now on. I'm in Michigan, so if you run across one in the next week or 2, shoot me a reply, and I'll check it every day or 2. I'd drive a few hours for a good bike. Just say there's one on the web or something and I'll know to look. If you can't, no big deal. Thank you again for the response

I don't mean to trounce on other peoples vids but NAVY SEABEE is doing this world a justice! Period! Great work and bringing back life to bikes that are scavenged. Buy a old relic like these are costing more money. I paid $800 for 2 of mine 8 years ago. You can't touch them in the same shape for $1800 now! I've seen 80's rollers in crap shape for $1500 and NO engine. He's about restoring and making the things we love great again... Just my 2 cents... RM500s may have not made the grade in a lot of eyes but they're mean as hell and will whip your butt.

Love seeing that! GREAT job my MAN! Those are very rare! I started back into these at 40. Had a plan to have the 4 main players... (CR-KX-RM & YZ490). If I could swing it was gonna dive into the KTM and Maico. I realized I had tall dreams and settled kinda. That RM was way to hard for me because of resources and people with knowledge to help and if you could find the parts... They'd make your butt pucker trying to hold on to your wallet. The YZ was hard to find in a workable condition for a fair price. So, I went with the CR and KX '86s both are a job getting things for them. The KX is the hardest of them but nothing like your RM! I SALUTE YOU! ~ Now fair notice, I didn't restore them to the level you did. I dug them out of the grave for $800.00 each and they are my babies now :) But they look like they were meant and the KX has all it's original plastics and those just don't exist. The rear fender has a 4 inch crack in the center but it's original and all the plastics aren't faded, old but no sun scaling. The CR is original Plastics also and looks nice. So for shits and giggles I got their '01 versions that were in great shape. I was curious in the difference in time. The result was they're all BADASS and i'm to old and unskilled to tell the difference. Again GREAT JOB!!! LOVE THAT BIKE!

I like restoring them but I like to ride them too so mine are not pristine showroom by any means, they look okay but you can go out and ride them as well!! they are mechanically sound.. I would love to have the cr you do, I like that year of cr , I'm sure its a ripper..

I found one Navy. 1999 cr500. All original. Badass bike. I might have paid a little much, but you get what you pay for. 3300 do you think I got burned
if the bike is well kept and all there as you say , and is clean and not beat and runs well yes 3300 is worth it for a bike like that.. go for it bro!! those 500's are going nothing but up in price as time goes on!! I would grab it bro!!! big bore CR would be a blast

I have rode a lot of bikes through the years, makes and size. Not all but a bunch.
I'm just going to focus on my skill and lame assed knowledge of these 2 bikes CR and KX, '86 thru '01.
Drum Roll Please:
For the lower to mid level rider: NONE
The only difference is the throttle.
CR will give you the CRACK of POWER
KX with the KIPS acts more like a 4choker on steroids
My results are the CR is better for MX and the KX is a master at baja
BOTH are awesome bikes, I wish I still had my IT175
