I totally endorse your summary of hiking the GR’s in France. Your videos brought back wonderful memories. My husband was indeed a Francophile which really eased our walks. We did only carry largish day packs. We each had one set of dinner clothes and one of hiking clothes. We washed the hiking clothes each night in the shower and tightly wrapped them in the damp shower towel. Hung up overnight, they were always dry in the morning. I have a suggestion for you. There is a classic two week walk around the Mont Blanc massif. It takes about two weeks and goes through France, Italy and Switzerland. Ideally it’s done the last two weeks in August or the first two weeks in September because the snow is usually melted by then. You stay in small mountain hotels or hiker hostels.
Hi Feral 👋🏻 Hope you're having a wonderful hike my friend 🤞🏻Thank you for the beautiful views 😊 Stay safe and take care 👍🏻 God Bless 🙏🏻 Appreciate you always 🫶🏻
Feral, thank you for taking us along. I found the French very nice and helpful, if you started out speaking French, even in downtown Paris. That was back in 1987, the period of the ugly American. Have a safe trip back to the USA. I do not think you ever mentioned the name of the Donkey. What is the status on your book? Happy Trails.
I thoroughly enjoyed that, many thanks indeed. It was very different from watching you on the CDT and PCT to listen to your observations over here in Europe. Could you be tempted by the Hexatrek for your next adventure? I followed an English lad walk it last summer / Autumn and it was looked stunning. Thanks again. Super!
By the way, Pocket Rocket or Pockets, as you call her, is traveling in Alaska, at least on YT, at the present. She’s with Jay. I assume they are still traveling as I’m not sure how long Jay is delaying his posted videos. Good luck on the next leg. Nice exchange rate in Europe this year.
Pockets & Pocket Rocket are two diminutive, but different, young women, both of whom I am honored to call friends (& both i know from the CDT). PR is German, P is American.
JJ: You know how important coffee is! And, the 2 slices of bread with a dab of jam & calling it "breakfast" isn't hacking it. I'm craving a big omelet or something akin to a Denny's Grand Slam. They need a "Via Alpina Hiker Hunger" breakfast!
I so enjoy your hikes.theres something about your voice and knowledge that I like so much.thank you for sharing.
It is my pleasure!
Nicely done. Excellent finish and summary. I’m looking forward to the Via Alpina. Looks like some stunningly beautiful country.
You put out some great content, currently going through your SOBO PCT hike. Great content, a wealth of knowledge 🤙🏽
Thank you for the kind thoughts!
I'm not heading back to the US, Jeff! The hiking is not yet over!
Congrats on another adventure completed. Thanks for taking us along. Good Luck, Rick
@@richardross7219 Thanks, Rick. On to the next!

Thank you! I did a few days on the Tour de Mont Blanc in late 2018. Fantastic, & it really whet my appetite!
Already looking forward to the next one, enjoyed this one very much!
More to come!

The donkey's name was Modestine.

You had no plan? A wise person once told me, "The plan is nothing!" 😃
Excellent adventure Feral!! Where are you of to next?

Thank you for another inspiring hike. Now I have to read Stevenson's telling of it. BTW, are copies of your book available?

Coffee from a vending machine. Oh how far we have fallen. Yet, you are far better off. O, how full of briars is this working-day world!
