    Thanks a lot for the video, I just got a telescope but I'm a fan of robotics so I immediately wondered if there is some controller implementation on Raspberry, your video opened a window to a whole world of cool stuff to learn and do!

      Congrats on your telescope! And I'm glad this video is helpful. My Raspberry Pi 5 is getting here in a couple of days and I'm planning on starting a whole series on Astroberry in 2024. I'm going to start from the beginning and also deep dive into very specific parts of Astroberry. I've learned a TON since I made this video so if you have any questions, feel free to ask :)
      Which kind of scope did you get? Clear skies!

    Awesome tutorial, I've been trying to get up to speed with Astroberry for a while and you solved a few persistent issues I've had. I'm even working with the same mount and a Canon DSLR, so it was good to see this setup can work with my gear.
    I wonder if you (or anyone else on here) have dealt with the last remaining issue I've had, which is that I can connect my Canon DSLR to the RPi and recognize it in Ekos, but I can't get it to take exposures. I can open the camera tab and get a live view, but whenever I try to do a preview exposure or a list of exposures, the exposure is aborted and I get a message in the INDI device manager that says "Failed to connect to serial port /dev/ttyUSB0" or whatever port is set in the device manager. I'm not well-versed in Linux so my attempts to understand documentation and forum posts have mostly sent me in circles.

      Glad this video was helpful!
      I think the preview exposure functionality is finicky for DSLRs. I vaguely remember running into a similar error so if I need to do a test exposure, I use a regular capture instead of trying to do a preview. And for framing, I use the 'loop" functionality which is an option right next to the live view button.
      If I'm not understanding what you are experiencing, let me know. I've been on solar eclipse mode for t he last 5 months or so and haven't looked at Ekos recently but I can open it up and take a look. You may have to wait until the third week of April when I have some more time after the eclipse. In the meantime, feel free to join the discord server if you use discord, I think we have a couple of other Ekos users in the community who may have an input.
      Clear skies!

    Fantastic tutorial Nazmus! You have just triggered on me to try it out. I have a question regarding the EKOS. Is it possible to do EAA with it (Live view)?

    • @Naztronomy
      @Naztronomy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you!
      And for EAA if you want to live stack, you can't with EKOS. You can use live view for previewing and framing. For live stacking, you can use EKOS to take individual images and then use something like SharpCap or Siril to do live stacking.
      Live view in EKOS isn't anything impressive tbh.
      And Astroberry itself is now unsupported. The creator kind of abandoned the project. I'm hoping to redo the series with Stellermate instead and also NINA on Windows. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I know EAA has a pretty broad reach.
      Best of luck with your imaging 😊

      @@Naztronomy Darn! So Astroberry is an abandoned project now? What a pity, i think it fits perfectly my needs. 😓 I am a Mac user and the Astroberry solution would be great for me (Raspberry 4 owner). I still havent found a EAA capturing software for Mac that fits 100% my needs (although i believe that Siril has Mac version, i have to check that path). I can always install Parallels with Windows but I was looking for some alternatives such as Astroberry. Any advice is welcome! Thanks again!

    • @Naztronomy
      @Naztronomy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@juanma2001 Astroberry is still available and it'll work on your RPi 4. I still use it as my backup system.
      The original author abandoned it because RPi 5 is 64-bit and he would have to redo the whole OS from scratch so it wasn't worth it. You can still run the current version of Astroberry as-is, just don't expect any updates.
      Another option you have is to download EKOS, INDI, and all the drivers manually and run it all yourself. You can also get stellarmate but it's not free sadly.
      There is a Mac version for Siril. And same with Ekos so you can download Ekos and run that directly. It'll be less resource intensive than using Parallels with Windows. Take images with Ekos and then use Siril to live stack.

      @Naztronomy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Fernando 😊
      You can use astroberry to just control your camera, it can act like a really advanced intervalometer. If your mount doesn't track, you'd need to take short exposures and stack those.
      This set up works best if you have a camera and a computerized mount that you can control with astroberry because you can completely automate your capture process.
      Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for watching 🙂

    Hi Naz, good tutorial, you have done your homework well. Ive used astroberry since before covid...lol I have had good luck with it, though Ive had connection issues. I now just use ethernet and it just works. I use the hotspot to polar align at the mount. Good luck, and btw the kstars guider is fantastic, just works
    Clear skies, and cheers

    • @Naztronomy

      Thank you, Steve 😊
      I also switched to Ethernet a while ago. I started on this video earlier in the year but took me 6+ months to finish. WiFi in my backyard has been horrendous and a long ethernet cable was faster and cheaper than upgrading my router.
      I agree that the guider is amazing! I started using that back in March and I'm working on that video now (will probably take me another 6 months to complete 😅).
      I've not yet successfully done a polar alignment with Ekos/Kstars but I suspect it's because I was using a DSLR. Ekos wouldn't do the exposure correctly. I've since gotten myself a dedicated astro cam so I need to retry polar alignment at some point. We don't get enough clear skies for me to dedicate time for testing 😞
      I've been using my iOptron iPolar for a while so I've been sticking with it since I can get polar aligned before I even attach the telescope to the mount.
      Clear skies!

      I use my orion magnificant mini ssag guide setup to polar align. Using your sct is just to narrow fov to polar align. It took me a while to figure that out too. I too use a c6 sct main imaginer and resentl just got a 90mm 500 f5.5 refractor
      Keep at it your doing 👍

      @@stevehauser7486 That's good to know! I tested polar aligning with my 100mm f/6 refractor, Ekos just wouldn't trigger the shutter on my camera. It was very strange. I'll test t his using my 60mm refractor and OSC, that should work a bit better :) I'll keep you posted.
      Your new refractor sounds a mazing! Hope you have fun with it!

    I know this might sound crazy, but do you know anyone using the PI HQ camera for DSO imaging? I was going to experiment with it.

    • @Naztronomy
      @Naztronomy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use the camera for astrophotography but it's probably far from ideal because it wasn't designed for it. But check out this article, it seems to be great for lunar and some planetary: astronomynow.com/2022/02/25/raspberry-pi-high-quality-camera/
      I'm sure you can find others who use it for DSO and it would be fun to try but it may make getting good images an uphill battle.

    Open KStars first..
    You can either hit "Ctrl+G" and edit your location data or from the menu bar "Settings/Geographic" and edit there...
