My wife and I just bought the 2017 Ultimate AWD with the 2.0T and yes, it moves very well if you want it to. Outfitted with Nokian winter tires, and with the Magna Dynamax proactive AWD system, it's extremely confident on winter roads. We love out Sante Fe. Smooth, quiet and a tonne of features ( more than all the competitors other than Kia ). I did about 50 hours of research for this category of vehicle and test drove most of it's competition. We felt that all around, this was hands down the best vehicle in it's class. While some competitors beat out the Sante Fe in one detail, they fell short on another. As far as the trim that we got, it does everything extremely well. My ONLY complaint, is that the controls to the left of the driver are visually inhibited by the steering wheel. I've been able to get better fuel economy than Hyundai claims as well. The Kia Sorento was also very nice. Slightly more luxurious, but $4000 more and with a third row of seats we didn't want. Drove this up after Christmas to family in Pembroke and enjoyed it tremendously. My guess from the road signs, you were in Ottawa area for this? Thanks for the review:)
One month ago, I bought a 2018 Santa Fe Limited 2.0T. Like you, I love it! I also have the same complaint... the controls to the left are really annoying (you can't see them). I would have put the "drive mode" button on the center console (instead of the sensor parking detector button... would make more sense to me anyway).

You can fold down the seats from the cargo area if you get a more well equipped model. Same for the cover. - Hyundai Salesman
Just pull up the center seat headrest slightly to lower the center console more easily.
