@@alamand4769 a buff in some ways a nerf in others, no more rampages but players now have to be way more careful and not leave their houses some nights out of fear of pestilence stacks killing them
I think the new Pestilence offers space for NA to not get hunted immediately after transforming. It's lethal to leave Pest around for too long, but failing to find it immediately isn't the same type of instant-loss condition that Famine and Death are, and it isn't as scary as an active Bers/War. In that way, it gives NA more of a chance to win by reducing the priority of finding Pest.
I think pest is significantly worse than it used to be in the end game but if you can get an early transform in a slow game it can be super bad for town, because there is so much potential to just accidentally have 2 town visit any person and they'll just immediately die Edit: it also has insane synergy with SC if you can get it early, as if SC visits with just one townie, they can kill so basically NA is the ultimate slow game killer with SC and pest and famine
My only complaint is that the townie sprites can only face left and right compared to the TOS 1 characters having multiple angles that you can view them from But it's understandable given the newer sprites are a lot higher quality and all have different animations so creating different angles for each is a lot more work than it was in TOS 1
Pestilance now feels like the one you wanna try and rush ASAP, reason being is that, if you get pest early, night 3 on a slow game, people can no longer investigate without risk of dying. It forces people to have to try and blindly guess who is who with very minimum info and pest, because he doesn't adhere to damage value, can freely snipe anyone he pleases. I would imagine the pestilence stacking would ignore TP because of it, making it a role that could bypass crus/BG. Which would mean a method of breaking the legendary exodia combo.
The buff is good for the game's overall health. First, it gives distinction between War and Pest, when before after transforming they are basically the same. Second, it gives Pest the ability to end a game quick after transforming, like Death and Famine can, and it is more fitting to the role of an Apoc. Plus, after gaining some uniqueness, this gives room to buff/rework War to become more effective as well. Maybe it's a nerf to direct killing power for pest, but it's better overall.
war: best killing role famine: nukes all but three people instantly pestilence: delayed nuke on visiting roles death: wins game instantly if not lynched
as pestilence has a bow, I feel like pb and pest should have astral visits. The actual source of the plague should be really difficult to find imo if it's going to be a slow killer
Well, what i know that "pest" like diseases are transmitted by the touch or the contact of the infected being... Maybe on pestilence you are right, but on plague idk.
Being able to kill each night and having the town spread stacks seems like a minor buff. But really, I think the idea was to make them more "pestilency", rather then just a single target nuke guy. It's a great thematic change, I feel!
The new Pest gameplay is actually close to what some players were suggesting. An Apoc role that inhibits visiting. It was suggested to make players too sick to visit, but I think making visiting a game of Russian Roulette for both visitor and target works even better. If you don't die, you KNOW you have 2 stacks now, so you don't dare visit again, only to die because anyone visited you.
Fun fact! On the notepad you have a little button on the bottom right that shows each player and you can write stuff about them. You can also hide dead players. Its just more practicle way rather than typing the numbers 1-15 each time.
The reason you did not shoot trickster as vigi was because you were waiting a day before you could actually shoot your gun. The only way to shoot N1 is from a witch.
It's kind of weird that they are different because the witch causes you to visit and the trickster causes you to attack, so I don't know why they would act differently

I like the new pest, old one felt too similar to war, and practicaly shuts down town for 1-2 nights for fear of spreading plague, old pest could be stopped by a crus tp chain (unless they gave it unstoppable attack, but that's even more like war)
If pest needs another buff, maybe they could make it so that players can get a second or even a third plaguebearer stack which then turns into a pestilence stack when you transform. Problem with pest is that once you transform people know that they just need to stop visiting, but if players could get stacks before they know not to visit it would make it a lot more powerful imo
My immediate thought with the "every player gives a stack of pestilence to who they visit" is coven that don't have the book using it to kill NKs, I'm curious to see how the strategy around dealing with an active pestilence evolves.
Previously, Pestilence had a powerful rampaging attack, and a TP chain of Clerics or Crusaders (or interestingly a Potion Master) could survive the rampage. This same strategy works in ToS 1. With the new Pestilence, a TP chain would die after two nights, as the players would spread stacks of pestilence onto each other. Additionally, a protective role won't stop the spreading of pestilence stacks from the Pestilence, so the direct visit from Pestilence is essentially an unstoppable attack.
I think this was the change that pest needed, makes them just powerful enough (especially in a slow game or early transformation) and actually uses the illness theme in the transformed version which is super nice.
I think it'd be cool if after pest transformed, the pestilence stacks stayed even if they were lynched. He can still kill, but once he's out the damage is done, everyone is gonna suffer. Might need to have a 'transform on next night' thing for him, but he can spread plague fast anyways
Fr if on the day plague become pest there as not a warning, it as better, but this rework basically dont change anything, like before, why will you visit with pest on the lose?? So it as more a nerf, well you can stop exodia combos, and will stop investigative roles, but well why did investigatives will try to visit before the rework and after it become worst
I believe this makes Pestilence more on par with the other Apoc roles, Famine and Death where they for the most part wipe out the town. Pestilence may be slow but it's going to be extremely effective in making people stay home and lose the ability to use their roles out of fear for the plague. It's sort of a psychological role-blocker when pestilence transforms and isn't lynched.
The buff seems really cool, makes pest feel more like a "pest" and fits the apoc roles sense most of them are about everyone dying really quickly, aka fam and death. Gives pest more of a uniqueness instead of just a invincible ww
The notepad already has a number list if you press the button in button right it will show a the play numbers. You can even filter it so it automatically removes dead players.
12 in the first game had to be lying about tracking 6 to 8 because they didn't get plagued. One of the most important things to remember about PB is that plague can help show you who is and isn't a visiting role as well as verify who they visited
I think the new pest is for longer games. I also think a cool mechanic would be to have PB spread the plague and only when someone gets 3 stacks of plague do they die and PB becomes Pest, allowing Pest to outright max stack someone.
my opinion is that pesti will be godlike with even a single Apo partner, the correct play is to nobody visit while pesti is out since they might be giving the 3rd stack to someone if someone else also visits them so this means baker/soul collector/bers are going to freely get their transformation sealing the deal in apoc favor since no more info is being collected.
I was really working reworked berserker would be the horseman version of deputy/summoner and kill during the day. Would be nice to see the variety and really help with other horseman.
The way pest works based on the text is that when plaguebearer transformed into pestilence everyone stack of plague turn into 1 Stack of pestilence, during first night after transformation everyone goes to 2 stacks, BUT pest can kill 1 into going 3 stack this same night, plus everyone that visits will give another stack when visiting so 3 stacks too, this makes it so that no one can visit or you will kill whoever you are visiting... So you have only more chance to find pest with no new info (apart from New deaths from NAs), because the second night after transformation everyone goes 3 stacks anyway.
This pest rework makes visiting, arguably, even *more* dangerous than a rampaging pest. Cause everyone alive has plague/pest, so visiting **anyone** takes you one step closer to death. If someone visits you the same night? You straight up die. Pest could wipe out nearly everyone in a night if everyone visits. Thus, everyone *has* to stay home or increase everyone's odds of dying. Pretty nifty rework, honestly. Makes pest a major threat, but in a more insidious way.
I feel as though the pest change nerfs him in most of the time because they can't get multiple kills most of the time. However it does mean tp can't stop pest anymore.
I honestly don’t like the changes. They made pest less reliable by removing the rampage and auto attack visitors (which was super unique). They did make him better if he transform early and people just stack pestilence on themselves, but only being able to directly kill one person sucks
Perhaps it should keep a "rampage" where it adds a pestilence stack to anyone visiting their target (making them get 3, 1 from normal visit, 1 from visiting the Pest target and 1 starting stack) and die?
Tbh that could be good if pb transforms fast since it slows town since TI cant visit without killing plus it counters all night killing roles so Pest is big support for other NA its just weak if youre alone
I always saw þe visit as infecting þem wiþ pestilence, and þe rampage was þe spread, killing þe visitors too, þen þe auto attack was infection directly from pestilence (Aka plaguebearer but þe infects are attacks now)
I think NA is quite strong as a team compare to coven. I think make them can't communicate at night but still know their teammates may balance things here.
I actually like the new change to Pestilence. Now, it actually feels like you're commanding a plague rather than being a worst War. Plus, he slows the game down a lot. Sure rampage is gone, but if ppl don't respect the pestilence you can get the same amount of kills while being able to guarantee kill one person at night on your own.
In my opinion on the pest rework, it feels like players are still forced to stay home in order to prevent the pest stacks from becomin lethal. It feels like it can be played out the same way
I was playing Ultrakill while listening to this and at 5:49 when pipe said "Keep em coming" Sisyphus said it and they overlapped and I felt truly schizophrenic.
to get more than 1 kill as Pest, you could have one person visit you, and then a person visiting the person that visited you, giving that person 3 stacks of Pest, killing them. Logic is: Visiting Pest gives 1 Pest stack Visiting someone with Pest gives 1 Pest stack You start with 1 Pest stack That is effectively 3 Pest stacks to kill, but people will stay home bc Pest. If you were to think about it, people might end up visiting on Pest night due to the fact that they underestimate the Pest rework, but you can't count on that to effectively win. People won't visit either way, so it effectively the same, ig, you just don't rampage.
Way it reads is EVERYONE who is not an Apocalylse Role who is visited twice by anyone else will die ANY visit by Pestilance counts as 2 Anyone visiting pestalance counts as a visit against themself Seems to me the best time to be pestilance is when visting roles like TIs and TPs are still alive
personally, i think the new pest should be how famine should work. When you visit someone it should instantly starve them not just hasten the starve, if they did that then baker would be in a really good spot
That the Plaguebearer transforming into the Pestilence is a viable way to win a match in ToS2 means that it has found a better environment to thrive in compared to the original game. I'm happy for the Plaguebearer.
I think the pest rework is a buff ONLY if people continue to visit after the pb transform. They could kill everyone who is visiting or being visited, even if you're tp. If everyone stays home, its the exactly the same as the old pest
This Rework has made pest a very hard role to win, with this new stuff i have noticed coven being able to kill a lot more around them i have had games were i have transformed and coven kill 3 to 4 people in a row due to them visiting town allowing them to get Maj instantly
I like this pest rework, it def is a buff cause let's say everybody is dying super slow and there's like 6 non apoc people and pest when pest becomes pest, everybody who visits anybody else provides extra pest points on everybody else, and like 2 days in it just nukes half the town
I actully feel like the pest rework is a nerf cus he dosent rampage anymore and people will stop visiting when pest imarge... i think they need to expand on it and do that the longer someone was plauged the mor pest stacks he will have when pb transform (+1 for each night) than when someone reach 5 they die so people will just straight up die when pb transform making him like baker but with targted killing also so uniqe... idk tell me in the comments ur thought about this system
only witch is able to make vigi shoot N1 trickster gives the taunt message to vigi N1 but neither vigi or trickster dies so basically when u trick a vigi N1 it confirms vigi and trickster
This reworked pest is a buff imo. But moreso in games with more townies, like tps and tis. The town moving pest stacks around is the better version of double kill, cause any two visits by any player will kill someone now. It instantly stops tp chains or in the right circumstance just outright kills a bunch of townies. Now pest can stay full stealth and town will kill itself if they don't stay home.
I think the pestilence rework is fitting. It makes visiting detrimental to the town as a whole, which fits with the identity of a plague. Some players would likely still visit anyways (arsos, for example), but pest isn't an immediate threat since it would only kill one player the first night. But if players stop visiting, they can buy themselves a little time during which pest isn't that much more dangerous than any other killing role. On day 4 on the pestilence game, I think other players could have hung bers and stayed home (except arso and maybe shroud acting as a tracker) and hope pest kills arso. Most of the players had basically lost by that point because they had 3 roles that they'd need hanged in the next two days (pest, bers, and arso). Successfully hanging pest wouldn't have done much to help them because they wouldn't be able to hang both Arso and War the next day, and they would need to.
It’s a reasonable buff (more of a rework but still), since previously it was just a slightly better WW and the only apoc that can be stopped by a freaking cleric lmao. At least now it can just kill. Idk if pb needed faster spreading ngl but it’s nice to have. Defo feels strong than baker now
I think it's more of a nerf than a buff, but I can see why the change was made. Once Pest came out, the game would usually slow to a standstill because everyone knows not to visit or the chances of killing multiple Townies goes up massively. Now that Pest has the potential to be on a Team with the rest of the Horsemen, this only exacerbated the issue. As for the change itself, it does remove the "Find Pest Immediately" problem. But now it feels like the Pest is between a Baker and a Hex Master or something, since you spread Plague like before, but if you do end up transforming now unless the game is massively slowed down because of a lot of other immunes like SKs, Arsos and Shrouds, it'll still be easier to narrow down who could be Pest with a smaller Town. I do like that Visiting as Pest doesn't actively attack so you can fool Investigators that check you for Blood, but in the end it again now feels like the Baker once you become Pest. Probably still the second best Neutral Apocalypse because Baker and Berserker are either more difficult or slower to come online, but Pest definitely doesn't have as much game impact anymore.
I think this is more of pest nerf than a buff as a way to balance out the Horsemen. You have War and Death as the two higher priority dangers, and Pest and Famine as lower priority dangers, but that grow more dangerous over time. I say this would be strong in a three Apocalypse team than 2. TLDR; This Pest rework basically made Pest a support instead of an attacker
they made pestilence famine but with mcdonalds wifi. you basically are just a slower famine as town gets time to succumb to pestilence and not just die immediately of starvation. probably going to get another rework imo.
The problem with this Pest rework is that it ties your win condition to enemy agency. If nobody visits, you're the only one who can spread the Pestilence, meaning you can only kill 1 person every night, giving town a lot of time to find you. At least Baker kills off anyone without bread. Pest is just a worse version of Baker now. I suggested that Pestilence stacks apply overnight, meaning that town has a few days to find you overnight before they all succumb, rather than being forced to kill off townies one by one.
new pest doesnt seem to change the dynamic much lategame if pest transforms, stay home otherwise you accumulate stacks and probably die very quickly however if you get a fast transform off with new pest the game either grinds to a halt and you can just pick people off freely, or people keep visiting and they drop like flies whereas before they just had to worry about rampage

7:40 The Shroud ignited the Arsonist
In my opinion on the pest rework, it feels like players are still forced to stay home in order to prevent the pest stacks from becomin lethal. It feels like it can be played out the same way
I was playing Ultrakill while listening to this and at 5:49 when pipe said "Keep em coming" Sisyphus said it and they overlapped and I felt truly schizophrenic.
The buff to the plague spreading is a good rework.
THANK YOU pipton for playing the NEW PESTILENCE REWORK in Town of Salem 2
to get more than 1 kill as Pest, you could have one person visit you, and then a person visiting the person that visited you, giving that person 3 stacks of Pest, killing them.
Logic is:
Visiting Pest gives 1 Pest stack
Visiting someone with Pest gives 1 Pest stack
You start with 1 Pest stack
That is effectively 3 Pest stacks to kill, but people will stay home bc Pest.
If you were to think about it, people might end up visiting on Pest night due to the fact that they underestimate the Pest rework, but you can't count on that to effectively win. People won't visit either way, so it effectively the same, ig, you just don't rampage.
I love waking up to pipetron videos just as much I love going to bed watching them
I had the same thing in a game, I was trickster, vig had the message. The vig just doesn't shoot as they can't n1.
Way it reads is EVERYONE who is not an Apocalylse Role who is visited twice by anyone else will die
ANY visit by Pestilance counts as 2
Anyone visiting pestalance counts as a visit against themself
Seems to me the best time to be pestilance is when visting roles like TIs and TPs are still alive
personally, i think the new pest should be how famine should work. When you visit someone it should instantly starve them not just hasten the starve, if they did that then baker would be in a really good spot
Pipe I was the wildling that game and found bers n2 and found you n3 but you got away cus of arso lol but I like the new pest
That the Plaguebearer transforming into the Pestilence is a viable way to win a match in ToS2 means that it has found a better environment to thrive in compared to the original game. I'm happy for the Plaguebearer.
The shroud ignited the arso. Good one
I would like to see either some coven leader gameplay, or gameplay as solo soul collector.
Pestilence is still fun, I am just happy War is now role-block immune and kills jailor for jailing them
That second game was so sick! Lol Almost everything was aligned xd
I think the pest would be way more cool if insted of 3 stacks to die it would be 5 or 6 but evryone gets 1 stack each night until pest or them die
I think the pest rework is a buff ONLY if people continue to visit after the pb transform. They could kill everyone who is visiting or being visited, even if you're tp. If everyone stays home, its the exactly the same as the old pest
Pb is more to stop people from visiting and have social distancing which it does well, now I'm it does its job even better
I'm doing well. Thanks for always asking Pipe!
This Rework has made pest a very hard role to win, with this new stuff i have noticed coven being able to kill a lot more around them i have had games were i have transformed and coven kill 3 to 4 people in a row due to them visiting town allowing them to get Maj instantly
I've had a game where both napocs claimed day 2, and got confirmed, and town never lynched them
maybe a suggestion, i always love to see what roles everyone had, could you maybe add in the rolelist after each game?
Always a good day when I get to watch pipton play TOS 2
Pipe is somehow the least observant person I have ever seen playing Town of Salem. It's astounding.
The pest rework wasnt really about buffing it, but about making it feel different enough from bers
G2 Conj be like: "Hey, Dream, watch me throw this."
We love shrouds igniting arsonists, its a taste of their own medicine
Pipetron is my favorite consistent TH-camr. I learned everything I know about TOS from him. Thank you man!!!
14:45 Ah I seen space-time continuum was broken
Defo feels strong than baker now
Tbh, it would be great if you can show us the roles of the players at the end
7:43 nice the shroud ignited the arsonist
I think they reworked the shroud😅
I think that this is more of a nerf. Town can just not visit to prevent pestilence spreading
So the 2nd game end screen. there was also a hidden mayor and two tavern keepers.
7:42 the shroud ignited the arsonist? How the turns have tabled
they made pestilence famine but with mcdonalds wifi. you basically are just a slower famine as town gets time to succumb to pestilence and not just die immediately of starvation. probably going to get another rework imo.
Yep, the only thing is that it can now stop Ezodia combos
@@cyanideytcuriousseadoggo before it also stop visiting, because there is a chance you visit pest without knowing, and just dies(or visit pest target)
Yeah the new PB and Pest got buffed hard
This update gives Pest some pressure ... Not just an upgrade from PB to Berserker 😂 so they can attack ... I love the change
Now that actually feels like a disease role
Thank you pipetron for PLAYING the new PESTILENCE
Pesti absolutely shatters tp chains
new pest doesnt seem to change the dynamic much lategame
if pest transforms, stay home otherwise you accumulate stacks and probably die very quickly
however if you get a fast transform off with new pest the game either grinds to a halt and you can just pick people off freely, or people keep visiting and they drop like flies whereas before they just had to worry about rampage
So there's a unique interaction where Trickster can confirm to Vigilante on N1.
