As an Indian myself who lived in Australia for my bachelor's,during my stay in Australia for a couple of years I have noticed a lot immigrants have used and abused the immigration policies and generosity of the australian govt. Most people who were abusing the system were from my own country and I really felt bad at that time. Can't blame the australian govt for bringing in stricter policies .

correct they abused it and now shed crocodile tears. I have never seen a student wearing a turban in any univercity but now they all are suddenly coming to study because they cannot change the course and fake their visas. its not fair for some who come here with lots of exams and IELTS scores to find some who cannot even speak a word of english living here and abusing the freedom

@@christinemclatchie "making a contribution to the country"? They are looking after themselves.
They come to use hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of infrastructure and public services that they will never pay for. They contribute to the need for still more infrastructure, that we all have to pay for, not just the newcomers that make it necessary.

The truth is a lot of foreigners were taking advantage of the immigration policy doing the shortcut to PR. Many students and visitors real intention is to live in Australia permanently. Even if they are not yet citizen, they already started a family. They assume that immigration policy will never change. Coming to Australia, through student visa, is a gamble to become a citizen (easiest way but no guaranty even you get a permanent job). "The end does not justify the means"

What makes me laugh is that when Albo was asked questions about Visa’s in parliament, he wouldn’t. Deflected, avoided and accused Dutton of scare mongering. Well actions speak louder than words, or lack of. This demonstrates Dutton was right, and all the posturing by Labour was ridiculous. What people expect from government is honesty, everyone can make mistakes, but we respect people who admit it honestly and go about correcting the errors where possible. Stop the posturing and start doing what’s best for Australians, not what’s convenient or simply politically expedient. Both parties have moments like this, but for once. I’d like and have more respect for a government that would stand up and say, we fuc-ked up and we’ll fix it. The questions now are; are we pushing out the right people and letting the wrong ones in. What are the checks performed on people to determine their rights to stay. It shouldn’t be some arbitrary set of rules. It should be abut people who adopt Australian culture and how they integrate and adapt to the Australian people and lifestyle. We have a very clear picture as to which people and from which countries people cause few problems and seamlessly work and benefit themselves and the Australian people. We also know those places where people come and cause disruption and create problems in Australia. Skills shortages should also be a consideration but after the character of the people is assessed.

My house my rules. Yes we may allow you sleepovers & long stays but when I want to give the bedroom or house for another family, we ask you politely to leave & even give you enough time to pack up & find another place to live. Agree, going back to your country of origin could be painful but it is where God started your life. Try to build your country by practising your skills there. Then look for another Western country where you can move to if the Western lifestyle is what you prefer. Even becoming a citizen so you prove to the adopted country that you are serious in living & dying as one of them. This then will protect you from ever being removed, unless of course if they have the law of cancelling citizenship because of terrorist activities. God bless you & your family as you walk towards a new chapter of your lives.

We Australian born Australians want a better life for OUR KIDS too, and most of us would like OUR children to live, grow and prosper - don’t keep trying to USE our media to suck up to the “serial apologists”. Our children are just as important to us, as yours are to you. Lots of OUR children and teenagers are “skilled” workers too - and they would have the ability and capacity to be even more so if we weren’t always having to pander to people who think they have a “right” to citizenship in our country at the expense of OUR kids!

Make every country visa free, at least it can be visited. Make new rules & regulations on permanent residency, asylum and work/study visa. It is very sad to say that developed countries don't want to cooperate with people of underdeveloped countries. Although they are like your workers, just take work from them, they will get good quality life and you will get your work done, don't do it yourself. If the problem is of teachings/coaching, then you can categorise or train people. Chances & warnings can be given. But don't make anyone bad lucked forever. Teachings/coaching should reflect humanity & justice.
