I think I put 2/0 Trapper trebles on my big MS Slammer and Deps 250 and ended up very happy and leaving them on. I can tell a massive difference. They don’t come off as often either.
Great video, I found that when using the st-36’s I use double split rings to make up for the shorter shank that’s worked better for me, but I also have used the st-41’s and 45’s Zo-wire for bigger fish especially if I’m around stripers and they are better then the 36’s while still getting a lot better penetration than the stock 66’s and they are a lot harder to bend out especially the zo-wires then the 36, so it kinda bridges that gap between the two
@@Frostin_Austin great to hear that! I actually use that zo-wires on a lot of my bigger baits for musky and stripers , got a 45in musky and it didn’t bend them out, they have the strength of the 66’s but thinner and penetrating power like the 36’s
outstanding commentary! I've watched a lot of Japanese videos and some have twin hooks - have you looked into these? Also, this season I"m going to try assist cord or braided line to connect my hooks and eliminate the o rings.
What rod , reel and line are you using for your 250’s? I use an 8ft irod genesis XL XH (3-10oz) moderate, rod paired with a quantum monster pt 301 in a 6 gear ratio I have a 7 gear ratio in the same reel but I like the way 250 fishes for me on the 6 gear ratio, and I use typically 25lb izorline Copolymer, I have used Fluro but I like the Copolymer better, I used to use big game mono but made the switch to izorline and I like it a lot better , if I do use Fluro is typically 25lb invixx
Daiwa Tatula Elite 8' Ish Swimbait. It's rated for up to 10oz and then I use a Daiwa Kage 8' H rated for up to 8. Daiwa Tatula 150 7.3:1 on one and Tatula 200 7.3:1 on the other. 20 P-Line Tactical Fluro with a Double San Diego jam knot.
@@Frostin_Austin great set ups how do you feel that the 200 size reel handles the 250 it being 6.5oz how does your drag hold up ? thanks for the info and , I use nothing but the San Diego jam or double San Diego jam as well,,
Man, I’ve never had a problem with them! The HD was the original reel i used and then dudes wanted them so bad I sold them and started using the 200. Literally have never had a problem out of it in its first 2 years of existence!
@@Frostin_Austin that’s great to hear ,, and the HD version is a great reel, I use a 300 sized reel with 25lbs of drag because I fish a lot of waters that have musky and stripers , I had a 38 and a 45in musky two years ago completely destroy the gears and the drag system on my okuma Citrix , so that’s why I upgraded my reel but I am like you I would prefer the 200 sized reel if I could get away with it
At least a 6/0 shark hook lmao! When I was editing I said “I probably need to redo the video” and then I said piss on it, not enough ego to care what people think!
@@Frostin_Austin lol. Just having some fun with ya. We all can't wait until we get some decent weather so we can all get back on the water. Stay safe! Keep up the great videos!
thanks for the tip, I want to try this setup but just to clarify what size do you recommend for the nose hook on a owner st 36? What size do you recommend on a split ring, I don't want the nose hook catching the chin of the bait like you mentioned? Thanks man
